Chapter 489: Advice And Warnings
Chapter 489: Advice And Warnings
"It doesn’t matter what I want or not. I am not asking anyone for justice, am I? I am simply pointing out the hypocrisy of those people who keep screaming about proof and truth." Razeal looked at Nerrisa and answered in a calm, almost indifferent voice. There wasn’t even the slightest trace of anger directed toward her. If anything, he sounded tired. Too tired to argue. Too tired to fight over something that had already lost all meaning to him. His face remained completely expressionless, as though this conversation was nothing more than another inconvenience standing in his way.
He paused for only a brief moment before continuing. This time, however, his eyes slowly shifted toward Merisa from the corner of his vision. He didn’t even bother looking directly at her. It was almost as if she no longer deserved that much attention.
"I never expected any of them to do anything for me in the first place." His voice remained steady without rising even a little. "Forget real justice. I’m sure no one even bothered to hold them accountable for what they did. I’m certain of it."
His lips curved into a faint, humorless smile.
"I was thrown out of my own family simply because of accusations. No sturdy proof. No investigation from themselves . No one cared enough to ask whether it was true or false."
The memory flashed through his mind like an old scar reopening.
The countless eyes staring at him with disgust.
The judgment.
The humiliation.
The pain.
Everything happened because people decided accusations alone were enough.
Then his gaze became even colder.
"And Selena..." he continued. "Even after telling everyone the truth... I’m sure my so-called family haven’t even slapped her once."
His words carried complete confidence, as though he didn’t need confirmation.
"They probably comforted her instead maybe. Telling her that she was innocent too. That she suffered as well or whatver bullshit."
He let out a quiet breath before finishing. Not a single hint of doubt existed in his voice. As if he believed every word he had just spoken.
Merisa’s heart tightened painfully.
"N-No... that’s not how it is..." she suddenly blurted out, unable to stay silent any longer. Panic appeared across her face as she instinctively took half a step forward. Her hands trembled slightly at her sides.
She wanted to explain.
She wanted to tell him everything.
She wanted him to know he was wrong. Thats not how it is actually.. But before she could say another word..
"No need."
Razeal interrupted her without even looking at her.
"Keep it to yourself."
The words weren’t loud. They weren’t filled with hatred either.
Yet somehow, they hurt even more. There was no anger. Only complete disinterest.
It was the kind of response someone gave to a stranger whose explanation no longer mattered.
Merisa’s lips parted slightly.
The countless words she had been trying so desperately to say became trapped inside her throat.
Her shoulders slowly lowered. Her trembling lips closed once more. She lowered her head slightly. Not because she had nothing to say. But because he simply didn’t want to hear it.
Silence settled over everyone for a few long seconds.
Razeal sighed quietly.
"Well, anyway..." he said, sounding almost bored. "I have more important things to do."
His crimson eyes moved toward both women one after another.
"So stop wasting my time."
His tone remained calm from beginning to end.
Almost emotionless.
As though this entire meeting had accomplished nothing except ruin his mood. Honestly, every single time he met these people, it ended the same way.
Anyways he had already said everything he wanted to say. There was nothing left to gain by standing here any longer. With that thought, he slowly turned around, intending to leave without another glance behind him.
But before he could take more than a single step, Nerrisa’s calm voice came from behind him.
"They have already confessed and received what they deserved. That is justice." Her tone was steady, carrying the authority of someone whose words alone do decide the fate of nations.
"The sooner you accept that, the better it will be for you. It will save you from unnecessary pain and unnecessary mistakes."
Razeal stopped walking but didn’t turn around immediately.
Nerrisa continued, her expression gradually losing every trace of the playful smile she usually carried. "I honestly don’t care what you think about Selena," she said plainly. "But if you ever decide to play games with my daughter... if you ever try to use this so-called justice as an excuse to do something to her..."
She paused before slowly meeting Razeal’s eyes as he finally turned his head toward her. The warmth had completely disappeared from her face. Standing there now wasn’t the teasing aunt from before. It was the Empress.
"Then I will be the one delivering justice instead." Her voice remained frighteningly calm. She slowly placed a hand against her own chest, her platinum eyes never leaving his.
"She’s my daughter." Every word came out firm and unwavering. "Celestia Gwon Valentine’s daughter. Remember that." The pressure in the air subtly changed, not enough to crush anyone, but enough for everyone present to instinctively understand the seriousness behind her words.
"Do not even dream of laying a hand on her." She stared directly into his crimson eyes without blinking.
"Because I won’t simply take your life." Her voice became colder than before. "I’ll erase your name from every record of this world. Every book. Every banner. Every achievement you have now. Every memory. Until history itself denies that someone named Razeal ever drew breath."
Complete silence followed her words. Even Sofia felt the atmosphere grow heavier. For the first time since arriving, Nerrisa wasn’t smiling, wasn’t joking, and wasn’t teasing anyone. She stood there only as a mother protecting her child, and there wasn’t the slightest hesitation in her resolve.
Razeal quietly listened until she finished. Then, to everyone’s surprise, he simply nodded once. There wasn’t even the slightest hint of fear on his face. Instead, he spoke in an almost thoughtful voice.
"Well... at least someone truly loves their child." His words made Merisa’s body stiffen instantly. Slowly, Razeal turned away from Nerrisa and looked directly at Merisa instead. Then he raised one hand and gestured toward the Empress as though presenting an example.
"Look at this," he said quietly. His eyes remained locked on Merisa’s face. "This is what a mother does for her child." He pointed toward Nerrisa again before lowering his hand.
"Her daughter is completely in the wrong, yet she’s still standing there. She’s taking her daughter’s side without hesitation, and I can tell..." His voice became quieter but somehow even heavier.
"Sshe’d still stand there even if the entire world stood against her daughter. Even if everyone called her wrong. Even if everyone pointed their swords at her. She would still stand in front of her child first." Razeal slowly shook his head, disappointment clear in his eyes as he continued looking at Merisa.
"And then..." He let out a quiet, bitter breath. "...there’s you."
Merisa went completely still after hearing those words. It felt as though every bit of warmth had drained from her body. Her wet eyes slowly moved from Razeal’s face to Nerrisa, then back to Razeal again.
Her lips parted slightly, wanting to say something, wanting to deny it, wanting to tell him that she did love him, that she would give everything for him now... but not a single word came out. His comparison had pierced straight through her heart. The worst part wasn’t that his words hurt. It was that she couldn’t even defend herself anymore. After everything he had said today, after everything she had finally realized, she no longer had the strength to argue against him. Every excuse sounded hollow, every explanation sounded selfish. Her spirit had already been crushed by her own guilt long before this moment. She simply stood there looking at him with eyes full of sorrow, unable to do anything except silently accept every word.
Razeal noticed that look. His eyes rested on her for only a brief moment before he clicked his tongue in quiet annoyance and turned his head away.
"Tch..." He no longer wanted to look at that expression. Whether it was guilt, regret, or pain, it didn’t matter anymore. There was nothing left for either of them to say. Everything that needed to be spoken had already been spoken. He let out a quiet breath before shifting his gaze toward Nerrisa instead.
"Well... as for doing this or that..." he said calmly, looking straight into her platinum eyes.
"We’ll see about that." There wasn’t a hint of provocation in his tone. It sounded more like a simple statement than a challenge.
Nerrisa looked back at him without looking away for even a second. Then she nodded once.
"We will." Her answer came instantly, carrying the same confidence she always had. Neither of them smiled. Neither of them backed down. It was simply two people acknowledging each other’s resolve. After a few moments of silence, Nerrisa spoke again.
"Oh... and one piece of advice for you."
Razeal raised an eyebrow but remained silent, allowing her to continue.
"Don’t underestimate Selena Luminus either." Her voice became slower, more serious than before. "She may look innocent. She may not even understand the true extent of the innate power sleeping inside her." She paused briefly before continuing, making sure every word reached him clearly.
"But I’ll tell you this much." Her platinum eyes narrowed ever so slightly. "You’d have a better chance fighting against the combined strength of all Seven Continents than fighting her... if she ever truly decided to use that power. That is.."
The warning hung heavily in the air. Even Sofia instinctively looked toward Nerrisa with surprise.
Nerrisa continued calmly.
"She’s an excellent Saintess. Let her be.." A brief pause followed before she quietly added,
"Just don’t ever force her to choose violence. Thatll be best for you." Then, almost as an afterthought, she said, "That’s only in case you think she’s someone weak enough to punish."
Razeal silently listened to every word. His crimson eyes narrowed slightly as different thoughts crossed his mind. Was Selena really that terrifying? For someone like Nerrisa to speak in such a tone... she wasn’t the type to exaggerate for no reason. Was she trying to scare him? Or was she genuinely warning him? He couldn’t tell. He knew a little about Selena’s innate abilities. Even in the novel he had read, her potential had always been described as extraordinary. But she had never truly reached a situation where she released everything she possessed. She had always remained the gentle Saintess.. Calm and Kind. Someone known more for healing than destruction. Because of that, he had never ranked her among the true monsters of the world not to say after he surpassed the generational gap with all younger generation.
He wasn’t even seeing celestia, selena or anyone that age as his competitors. Thats just .. well.. Kind of time waste.
Still... Nerrisa’s warning wasn’t something he could completely ignore. After several seconds of silence, he simply shrugged. Whatever the truth was, it changed nothing. He wasn’t someone who intended to fear anyone anymore. Not after everything he had already survived. Still, deep inside his mind, he quietly made a note of those words. Better to remember them than forget them.
"Anyway..." Razeal rolled his eyes with a faint sigh.
"Whatever." He shook his head dismissively before finally turning his back on both women. This conversation had gone on long enough. Talking time was over. There were kingdoms to rebuild, people waiting for him, and countless things demanding his attention. Standing here digging through old wounds served no purpose anymore.
Without another glance, he started walking away. Sofia remained where she was for only a brief moment. She looked toward Merisa and Nerrisa one last time. Her ocean-blue eyes softened ever so slightly when they met Merisa’s sorrowful face, but she didn’t say anything. This wasn’t her place. She quietly turned around and hurried after Razeal until she was walking beside him again.
As they walked away, Razeal lazily raised one hand without turning around.
"I’ll give you one last piece of advice too," he said in a calm voice. "Don’t come in my way again... and definitely don’t disturb me anymore. I have far greater things to focus on now. Just in case you dont want problems." His hand dropped back to his side as he continued walking without waiting for an answer.
Behind them, both Merisa and Nerrisa silently watched his figure grow farther away. Merisa’s eyes never left his back. They were filled with sorrow, regret, and an unbearable heaviness. Once again... she had watched her son walk away. Once again... she had failed to stop him. It felt as though every meeting ended exactly the same way. The distance between them only grew larger.
The saddest part wasn’t that he hated her anymore. It was that this time she didn’t even have the courage to call his name. Her throat tightened every time she wanted to speak. Her body refused to move. She simply stood there, watching him disappear little by little, feeling as though a part of herself was leaving with him once again.
After a long silence, Nerrisa slowly let out a breath and shook her head, pushing away the complicated thoughts lingering in her mind. Whatever happened between that mother and son would not be solved today. There were more immediate matters waiting. She turned toward Merisa, whose eyes still remained fixed on the disappearing figure in the distance.
"Alright..." Nerrisa said, her tone returning to its usual calmness. "I think it’s time you prepared for your breakthrough."
Merisa seemed to suddenly wake from her thoughts when she heard Nerrisa’s voice again. She slowly turned her head to the side and looked at the Empress, but she didn’t answer. Her eyes were still heavy with sorrow, as though part of her mind was still following Razeal’s back even after he had already disappeared into the distance.
Everything that had happened today kept replaying inside her head over and over again. Every word he had spoken. Every expression on his face. Every disappointment in his voice. It felt like each memory was carving itself deeper into her heart. She wanted to chase after him. She wanted to call his name. She wanted to stop him just once. Yet her body refused to move. It was as though she had already lost the right to ask him to stay.
Nerrisa quietly watched her for a few moments before speaking again. This time her voice was much calmer.
"It’s alright, Merisa. I can understand what you’re going through." She paused briefly before letting out a small sigh. "I know I probably look cold for bringing this up right now... but this is important. More important than anything else at this moment." Her platinum eyes became serious.
"Don’t throw your life away because of this." She slowly looked toward the direction where Razeal and Sofia had disappeared. A faint smile appeared on her face.
"He’s still just a child..." She stopped for a second before shaking her head with a quiet chuckle.
"Well... a very special child." She corrected herself before looking back at Merisa again. "If fate truly has something planned for both of you, you’ll meet again. Relationships don’t end just because one conversation went badly. Sometimes they need time. Give him some time." She spoke without trying to comfort Merisa with empty words. "But for any of that to happen..." Her gaze became firm again. "...you need to stay alive."
Merisa silently listened to every word. She knew Nerrisa wasn’t trying to dismiss her pain. The Empress simply wasn’t good at speaking gently. Even when trying to comfort someone, her words came out blunt and straightforward.
Still... somehow they cooled the storm inside her heart a little. A tiny bit of hope that had almost disappeared flickered once again. Maybe... maybe this wasn’t truly the end. Yes, she had failed. Horribly. She had broken her son’s trust with her own hands. But love wasn’t something that disappeared because of one mistake. Or even many mistakes. She loved him. She finally understood that clearly. Then... she would simply continue trying until the day he believed it too. Nothing in this world was beyond repair. Not while both people were still alive. She slowly closed her eyes and took a long, deep breath, forcing herself to calm the chaos inside her heart. Nerrisa was right. She had come here risking everything because her breakthrough could no longer be delayed. If she continued suppressing it after reaching this point, the backlash could become fatal. Slowly opening her eyes again, she looked one last time toward the direction Razeal had disappeared. Her eyes remained filled with deep melancholy, but this time there was also a small trace of determination hidden beneath all that sadness.
Nerrisa watched Merisa continue staring toward the horizon where Razeal had disappeared. Seeing that she wasn’t responding anymore, she simply shook her head with a helpless sigh.
"Well... I don’t particularly want this entire continent to be destroyed either," she said in a calm voice, deliberately pulling Merisa’s attention away from her thoughts. "So it’d be better if you prepare for your breakthrough as soon as possible." Her expression became serious. Unlike before, there wasn’t even a hint of teasing on her face.
"Breaking through to Emperor Rank isn’t some ordinary advancement. Cosmic Tribulation is no joke." She said.. Yeah even someone like Nerrisa, who stood at the very peak of the world, spoke about it with respect it deserves. She quietly glanced around at the surrounding land before letting out a small breath.
Afterall no sane person would attempt something like that on a populated planet. The thought alone was absurd. The chosmos didn’t care who stood below. Once the tribulation descended, mountains, kingdoms, oceans, or civilizations meant nothing. Everything caught within its range could simply disappears.
"I hope you’ve already prepared a suitable pocket dimension," Nerrisa -;;4; while looking Merisa up and down. "And the bigger, the better." She folded her arms thoughtfully.
"You’re not an ordinary Supreme Merisa." Her platinum eyes narrowed slightly. "Which also means the cosmos will have... very high expectations of you." There was both advice and warning hidden inside those words. The stronger someone was before reaching Emperor Rank, the harsher the chosmos usually tested them.
Merisa quietly nodded, taking a slow breath to steady herself.
"I know." Her voice was soft but firm. She had already prepared herself mentally for this long ago. Nerrisa looked at her for another moment before speaking again.
"I’ll go with you... just in case." This time Merisa’s eyebrows immediately rose in surprise. She genuinely hadn’t expected those words.
"You will?" she asked, unable to hide the confusion in her voice. Anyone with enough knowledge understood how unusual that was. Even another Emperor couldn’t truly interfere with someone else’s Cosmic Tribulation. If they tried, the heavens could judge them as part of the trial. The punishment could be anything from losing their all strength to simply dying on the spot. Because of that, almost no Emperor willingly approached another person during such a breakthrough. The risk simply wasn’t worth it.
Nerrisa merely spread her hands with a casual shrug.
"I mean..." She smiled lightly but didn’t actually answer the question. She didn’t explain her reason, nor did she seem interested in doing so. Merisa looked at her for several seconds before quietly nodding.
"Fine." She didn’t ask again. She knew Nerrisa well enough to understand that if the Empress didn’t wish to explain something, no amount of questioning would change her mind.
But just then as though suddenly remembering something, Nerrisa rubbed her chin thoughtfully and looked toward the distant direction where Razeal and Sofia had disappeared only moments earlier. "Oh... I think I might actually have a very good job for your son." A faint smile slowly appeared on her face.
"I mean... with strength like that, it’d be a complete waste to let him remain unemployed."
Merisa frowned immediately, pulled out of her thoughts once again.
"What do you mean?" she asked, completely caught off guard by the sudden change in topic. Nerrisa only smiled mysteriously.
"Nothing." She waved her hand dismissively. "You’ll know when the time comes." Her smile widened just a little. "I’m quite sure you’ll like it though." She clearly had no intention of explaining anything further.
Merisa could only continue looking at her with a deeper frown, wondering what exactly was going on inside the Empress’s head this time. But before she could ask anything else, Nerrisa clapped her hands together lightly.
"Come on." Her tone became more hurried. "We’ve already delayed this long enough. We really shouldn’t waste any more time."
Merisa let out one final quiet breath before giving a small nod. Whatever Nerrisa was planning could wait. Right now, there were more important matters ahead of her. Without another word, both women disappeared from where they stood, vanishing into space as though they had never been there at all. Silence returned to the battlefield once more.
Nothing remained except an enormous plain stretching endlessly beneath the sky, perfectly smooth and unnaturally polished, every crater and small hill erased by the terrifying clash that had taken place there only moments before. The empty battlefield stood alone, carrying nothing but the silent evidence of power so overwhelming that even nature itself had been forced to surrender before it.
