Chapter 52: Returning to School – Ascetic Monk
Chapter 52: Returning to School – Ascetic Monk
The train to the end of one’s life would pass by many stops, and this stop, Star City High School, had now become Feng Qi’s past.
He bid farewell to his six years of youth, but it had also left behind beautiful memories.
With the blessings of his classmates, he embarked on the journey back to Star City Academy.
After getting off the vehicle, he was about to walk toward the entrance of Star City Academy when the bus driver’s voice sounded from behind.
"Young man, don’t embarrass the Star City High School. No matter how weak you are, you can’t have a battle record of o!”
Upon hearing the driver’s shout, Feng Qi felt helpless. However, he still turned to look at him and waved.
"Okay, I’ll see you again if fate allows.”
The driver grinned and gave Feng Qi a thumbs up. Then, he started the school bus and left in a hurry.
At the entrance of Star City Academy, Feng Qi’s detailed information appeared on the security guard’s tablet as the device scanned his entire body.
After confirming his identity as a new student, he was let in.
As he walked down the marble path with statues on both sides, he was surrounded by many freshmen like him, who had come to report with their luggage.
There were smiles on their faces as they curiously sized up the environment of Star City Academy, as if they were looking forward to the start of a new life in the academy.
The lotus flowers in the lotus pond ahead were in full bloom, and the nearby weeping willows swayed with the wind, looking green.
The reporting location for the freshmen was the office building on the east side of the dormitory building. They needed to collect school uniforms, first-year textbook materials, and other items.
As Feng Qi walked down the marble road, a figure caught his gaze.
He was wearing patched clothes and carrying a large cloth bag. The canvas shoes under his feet were also tattered. The most eye-catching thing was his shiny head, which refracted dazzling rays under the sunlight.
Feng Qi also noticed that there were ordination scarsE on his head.
From these physical features, he could basically confirm that this was a Buddhist disciple.
As if noticing Feng Qi’s gaze, the monk suddenly turned to look at him. Then, he walked towards him with a smile.
"Benefactor… All no, classmate, do you have any food? I’m so hungry!”

"After reporting, you can go to the cafeteria to eat. There’s a 24-hour buffet there.”
Upon hearing Feng Qi’s words, the monk said awkwardly, “Is the food here expensive?”
Realizing he was financially tight, Feng Qi answered with a smile, “The food here is free.” “Meat is free too?” The monk’s face lit up with surprise.

"You’re a monk, yet you still eat meat?”
"Wine and meat will move through the intestines, but Buddha remains in my heart. Besides, I’m a cultivator. How can 1 keep up if I don’t eat meat for nutrition? Given my family background, I can’t afford to eat energy supplements every day either.”
"So, is the meat free?” The monk pressed with an expectant expression.
"It’s free.”
"Then this is a wonderful place.” The monk was all smiles.
Feng Qi sized him up again and asked curiously,
"Why are you dressed like this? There are so many relief stations in the city. Getting you a new set of clothes is absolutely not a problem, right?”
In the face of the question, the monk sighed and said with a frown, “I’m an ascetic monk. Master feels that there’s a limit to the suffering in the world. As long as we suffer more, all living beings can suffer less. That’s why I’m like this.”
Hearing these words, Feng Qi felt deep veneration.
Spiritual faith could sometimes bring strength to people, regardless of whether it was an illusory thing.
Especially when one was in a desperate situation, the spiritual power brought about by faith might be able to make one muster the courage to break through despair.
However, the monk’s next words wiped the respect out of his heart.
"But Master can’t control me now so I’ll change into my school uniform later.”
Looking at the smile on the monk’s face, Feng Qi felt that he must have had a hard time holding it in before entering Star City Academy.
As they chatted, they exchanged phone numbers and arrived at the admissions office building.
From afar, they could see many students in Star City Academy’s uniform standing in two rows, watching them with a smile.
Seeing this scene, the monk could not help but ask curiously, “The seniors of Star City Academy are really enthusiastic. They specially came to welcome us.”
Upon hearing this, Feng Qi pointed at a sign standing on the right side of the office building.
"Look at what’s written on that sign.”
When the monk heard this, he immediately turned around. When he saw the contents written on the sign, his expression immediately changed.
The sign read:
Freshmen need to prove their strength and courage if they wish to pass through here.
The Star City Academy does not accept weaklings and cowards.
"No way. Cracking the whip on the first day of school?”
Seeing Feng Qi’s smile and calm expression, the monk was a little confused.
"It might just be a formality. Why don’t you go first?”
Realizing that the monk wanted to use him as a pathfinder, Feng Qi nodded. “Sure.”
Then, he pushed his luggage toward the office building.
Seeing this, the monk did not follow. Instead, he hid behind and began to observe the situation.
If they hit hard, he decided he would wear something on his body to cushion the impact. If it was just a formality, he would directly attack.
Seeing that Feng Qi had already moved with his luggage toward the seniors, the monk held his breath.
However, the imagined scene of a beating did not appear. The seniors standing on both sides greeted Feng Qi with smiles.
Although he could not hear what they were saying, it seemed to the monk that the seniors did not have any ill intentions.
But what he did not know was how special Feng Qi’s status at Star City Academy was.
No matter which class they were from, the students had all come to listen to his lecture. They already could not wait to please this knowledgeable teacher, so how could they dare to offend him?
However, in the monk’s eyes, the first test for freshmen was purely for show.
The seniors would just go through the formality and greet them.
But just as he was about to follow Feng Qi to the office building, a freshman stepped into the “welcome area” before him.
Then, under the monk’s dumbfounded expression, the freshman was beaten until he rolled all over the ground.

Seeing this scene, the monk quickly retracted his steps. Confused, he took out his phone with a cracked screen and dialed Feng Qi’s number.
When the call went through, he hurriedly asked,
"Hey, why did you get through absolutely fine? What’s going on?”
"Oh, the seniors are all very kind.”
"How is that possible? I saw them beat up a freshman with my own eyes. Every move they made didn’t hit his vital points, but it looked very painful.”
"You’re an ascetic monk, yet you’re afraid of pain?”
"Yes, I’m quite afraid!”
"Perhaps I was a little arrogant when I went over, so you should be more arrogant too. The seniors look down on cowards the most. When it’s your turn, put on a fiercer gaze and step with your feet splayed outwards. In short, you can’t lose in terms of aura.”

After hanging up, the monk took a deep breath, then picked up his cloth bag and walked towards the office building.
Although he was flustered, his eyes were abnormally fierce, and his footsteps were extremely arrogant.
Seeing this scene, the seniors who came to “welcome” him could not help but be stunned.
They had seen arrogant people, but they had never seen anyone so arrogant on the first day of school.
At this moment, they felt that they were being seriously provoked by this freshman.
If he didn’t beat him up, they would be completely humiliated as seniors.
"F*ckhim!”
Under the monk’s terrified expression, the seniors pounced on him.
What was supposed to be a formality became a real beating for the monk.
A moment later, the monk with a badly bruised and swollen face laid on the ground, panting heavily.
Until now, he still could not figure out what went wrong.
Could it be that 1 wasn’t arrogant enough?
