Chapter 1763: 24.24 Sixth Violet Star - Mercenary Tower

Huzi, the beastman leader of the village, made two known presence in his cave on his way home and hurriedly returned to his home to check on his cubs. His hair had turned white as snow as two fox ears appeared on his head. His golden vertical eyes looked around vigilantly as he instantly headed for the bed to check on his children. Seeing the two cubs sleeping peacefully hugging each under one blanket made Huzi sighed in relief.

Sitting at the side of the bed, he carefully took care of his cubs with their blankets which kicked with them moving around in their sleep. His eyes were gentle and full of emotions of adoration. Once his eyes moved away from the cubs, his eyes flashed with coldness.

Huzi mumbles, "This is the second time already? Who can come into my cave without alerting the formations I placed around. How are they able to come inside?"

The coldness in his eyes once again melted as it landed on his cubs, and realized something. Those presence only appears when he is not around and it is always around his cubs. It would disappear when he came out or return to the cave as if that presence was avoiding him. Huzi thought of something but no longer voiced things about those intruders. He had a way to catch them off guard. In the end, Huzi joins the cubs on the bed and sleeps with his arms around them.

Once Huzi fell asleep, the two cubs opened their eyes. They both look at their dad in this world and choose to lean towards him. They had witnessed the reaction of this beastman ever since they returned to the village as eggs. They saw him crying behind his people’s back cradling him. As if the most important treasures in his life had returned to him.

They also noticed that this beastman was too overprotective of them ever since they had hatched and they can truly feel his love for them. Which is why the two of them are willing to accept him as someone to be protected under their wings. At the very least in this world, Huzi’s protection will be their responsibility.

The thoughts of the God of Destruction: ’I guess I have to warn A’Ming and Wuye to meet us in their cub forms and pretend to be a species that control space to make an excuse of how they are able to sneak in the cave.’

In the human land, at the marshal’s territory.

Long Juedi returned home and told his family about the pair who accepted his commotion. He looked like an excited kid telling stories to his parents about his experience in school. The old marshal, his father, uncle and cousin, Long Teng had gathered in the living room waiting for dinner. Ever since the last time Long Kian had made a mistake and offended the two beasts at the detached manor, his father ordered him to stay at home.

Long Teng was healed by Hunluan and is no longer foolish. However, because of that event where he suffered, he avoided the detached manor no matter what. He can still recall how humans liked the expression that black, lion cub had when he looked at him that day. Disdainful eyes, chilly gaze as if looking at a dead man.

Long Juedi asked, "Do you think they can do it? It’s been awhile since someone accepted a mission located in the ancient forest. After the wooden wall appeared, no humans who entered there were able to survive." He was asking his elders whether those two men he met could provide him a beast meant for him.

An amateur beast tamer like him can only sign a contract twice. One for the main beast and the other for the support beast. He can sign more beasts only when his strength is promoted. The levels of beast taming from weakest to strongest are the following: Amateur (2 beasts), Elite (3 beasts), Expert (5 beasts), Master (7 beasts) and Heavenly (9 beasts).

The main beast contracted beast is connected to their master by life and death. If the master dies so is his beast. However, the master will not die even if the beast is killed though their soul will be injured making it almost impossible to sign another contract for the main beast. The difference between a main beast and support beasts is that, the main beast’s strength, power, and abilities can be shared with their beastmaster. Likewise, a beast who signed a control can get promoted in strength through battles.

The classification of beast strengths are the following: bronze, silver, gold, lord, king, and god. The old marshal’s main beast was at least gold rank. The current marshal’s beast is peak tier silver rank while his brothers is low tier silver rank beast. Long Teng is just an amateur beast tamer who recently signed a contract with his main beast and it’s just bronze like all beginner beasts.

"Are you stupid? You are being fooled. Do you think someone will still enter that deadly forest to get a beast egg?" Long Teng said.

Long Kian glared at his son. He knew that Long Juedi had a good relationship with those powerful beasts at that detached manor. They couldn’t openly offend this child right now.

"Teng’er, watch your words,"

Long Kian reprimands his son. Then he looked at Long Juedi talking to him like a kind elder worried about his situation.

"Forgive your brother’s mouth. I don’t know where he picked up talking like a thug. However, he is right. You cannot easily believe people who are involved in things like the ancient forest. Right now, that place is considered a deadly zone where no human was able to come out alive."

"Your uncle is right this time, Jue’er," said Long Tian.

Long Kian noticed his brother’s unkind tone and retorted, "What do you mean by ’this time’? Are you trying to say I am always wrong!"

"I wasn’t the one who said that. You’ve spoken it yourself," said Lon Tian.

The two started fighting again and the two young men were watching from the living room beside them. Long Huang was sighing.

The old marshal said to his grandsons, "Ignore those two fools. Jue’er, tomorrow bring your brother with you to meet that pair who promised to accomplish your mission request. Carry an identifier with you, if they truly brought a beast egg, use the identifier on it. This is to check whether the beast egg is alive or its a dead egg. Also to check if the egg is stolen or not. If they didn’t appear on the promised time schedule, go back. It can only mean that they have failed to survive."

"Grandpa, obviously those two won’t survive. Why do we still need to waste time to leave home?" complained Long Teng.

Long Huang said, "Since they are so sure to survive, maybe there is a chance they would survive. A chance cannot be wasted, even if they failed there is nothing wrong with you going to the Mercenary Tower. Maybe you would be lucky enough to find an egg for your brother’s support beast."

As for Long Juedi’s main beast, Hunluan and An Shizhe promised to help him find one within this year. So they aren’t worried much about it. This is a promise from a powerful beast. A beast that can speak and communicate like a human. Moreover, it can be said that Long Juedi is the savior of those two beasts. That is also the reason why these two beasts promised to help Long Juedi find a beast suitable to become his main beast.

The old marshal said, "Do you two understand?"

"Yes, Grandpa!" Long Teng and Long Juedi responded.

The next morning at the Mercenary Tower, Long Juedi had dragged his cousin, Long Teng with him to meet with Warden Yun Ming and the Chief Warden, Lou Wuye. By the time they arrived at the tower, people were surrounding the room where the two wardens were. After all, they had reported the completion of the mission to the tower making them a powerful pair who completed a mission considered as a dead end.

Members of the tower had just finished their conversation with Yun Ming and Lou Wuye by the time these brothers from the Long Clan arrived.

Yawns~

"What is happening here? Why are there too many people?" Long Teng asked while looking sleepy.

Long Juedi didn’t know the reason, but he overheard people in front of a room talking so loudly about it. Both mercenaries and recruiters had gathered in place. They are all talking about the same thing. This young master from the Long Clan started eavesdropping in their conversation.

"Have you heard? They say this pair came out of that dead zone alive!"

"You mean the Ancient Forest?! They just returned from there!"

"Is that even possible?"

"That’s right. Even the group of A grade mercenaries died in that hellhole. How can one be sure that they come out from there?"

"But the patrol guards saw them coming from that direction of the wooden wall. There is no need for them to lie with witnesses on their side."

"Is it not possible to be a scheme or something?"

"No. The beast egg they pulled out had just finished being identified."

"The staff of the tower were all speechless by the result."

"They say everything was real and the egg wasn’t stolen. I heard the egg is a new type as well."

"That’s amazing. The tower planned to buy it but upon hearing that this is a mission issued by the young master of the Long Clan, the mercenary tower held back."

Suddenly two among the crowd turned around and saw Long Juedi with Long Teng standing beside him. They shriek in surprise, getting others’ attention as well.
