Chapter 2011: 24.272 Sixth Violet Star - Missing Ashes
What happened after the flare was seen in the evening sky?
The soldiers under the human general had those captured beastmen gathered and massacred by his soldiers. After they were dead, they were killed to be burnt to a small hill of ashes then left there to be blown away by the wind. Moreover, the soldiers intentionally left this pile of ashes at the forest between the city and the borders. Unless one intentionally entered the forest no one would see it at all.
If it’s just ordinary ashes then as time passes it would be blown away by the wind merging with the forest and becoming nutrients by the land. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. A few hours after the human soldier had retreated to the city, the small hill of ashes started to tremble. After a while, a hand comes out from it and one of the hidden guards comes out alive. Under the moonlight one can see their bodies regenerating. More and more people came out from the ashes until all ashes disappeared and everyone had been revived.
"Boss, where to go next?"
"Everyone, good job! Let’s return to the borders. Our mission is complete."

Back to the Borderland
Seeing the hidden guards all alive when they are supposed to be dead left the Beast God Mo Minkong and his mate, the Ninetailed Fox Beastmen Leader Huzi, dumbfounded. The mission of acting like a messenger or scout whether there is something wrong in the city with none of the other scouts returning, Mo Minkong and Huzi expected no one to return. But upon seeing them now, it seems that no one had died at all.
Beast God Mo Minkong asked, "What happened? You guys are still alive!? Were you not caught by the humans?"
"Caught and burned alive. But with Prince Hei’s blessing, we have immortality during the evening. As long as a part of us remains, even just ashes, we will be able to come back to life." The Hidden Guard Leader answered.
Beast God Mo Minkong and the Ninetailed Fox Beastmen Leader Huzi exclaimed, "WHAT!?"
"Immortality. This is something only Lord Hei can bestow on people. You will not die unless your whole existence was purged completely into nothingness." Zhi Yue said.
Zhi Yang added, "Even though immortality is real, the process of death, the pain suffered and mental pressure is also real. The pain and suffering you underwent is not avoidable. So if you are hacked to death, beheaded, beaten or burned alive, what you fell into was something you cannot avoid."
Silence~
"Then us too, do we have the same blessing?" Beast God Mo Minkong asked.
Zhi Yang answers, "Yes. Yours is more powerful as you have the blessing of both Lord Hunluan and Master. You possess Accelerated Regeneration and Immortality. Us as well. But the enemies are beings from outside this world that have capabilities of killing one in an instant with nothing left behind. That’s what Master fears, after all, even he couldn’t resurrect one who didn’t even leave a hint of soul to save."
"No wonder you didn’t want me to return to the city." Lord Huzi finally erased the thoughts of returning to the city after hearing this.
Zhi Yue said, "Don’t worry. Being like that hidden in the city looks down on everything in this world. It wouldn’t care much about the beastmen race. After all, he cannot move on his own. Once he made a big move, it means that he had given Lord Hei and Milord a reason to move as well."
"But his sneak attack is deadly for your level, so for now do not return. It’s not like that beast race watching from the Barren Land would give a leeway to leave this place." Zhi Yang said.
Sigh~
"Alright. I understand the situation now," said Lord Huzi.

Back to the Ruined Alliance City...
The two groups lead by Elf Vera and Dwarf King Garan are now being chased by the humans. They were found after someone broke the underground tunnel the dwarf created for sneaking through underneath. After finding the Dwarf Race’s Kingdom underground, the humans now know that the dwarf race is capable of moving underground, and so they created holes above ground and leave a trap which would allow them to know if there is someone moving underneath,
Now exposed by these traps, the groups of elves and dwarfs had no other choice but to run to the surface and escape. The remaining warriors from the side of the elves and dwarfs would block the enemies and buy some time for the others to escape. Among these warriors are the dwarf king and the Elf Chief Warrior Vera.
"Keep running towards the Ancient Forest!" Dwarf King Garan said.
Elf Vera commanded, "Boost speed. Retreat as fast as you can. We will block the enemies for you and buy you some time! Once you reach the ancient forest’s vicinity, shout for the name of the king. As long as he hears you, he will definitely save you. GO! This is an order!"
Receiving the command from their leader, the other elf warriors can only support the weaker ones in the group and run towards the forest as they were told. Hearing the sounds of the fleeing group from behind them, Dwarf King Garan and Elf Vera as well as a few dwarfs warriors who choose to remain smiled. Buying time for the rest with their lives was something they do not regret. It is just that Elf Vera isn’t willing to let his subordinates stay with him and the dwarf king and his loyalist also didn’t question this action.
After all, if not for them the dwarfs, these elves could escape on their own as their main ability is speed using the wind as their support. Just by the fact that Elf Vera is willing to stay means that he is willing to accompany them until the end. In the past even though the dwarf and elf didn’t get along, they respected each other’s strengths. It was until the new Elf King had taken over and started talking about the purity of one’s bloodline that the relationship between the two races became fake and awkward.
The warriors that used to follow the former elf king had retreated after they lost their king and leader pretending to have nothing to do with the throne. Because they are powerful warriors of their race, Elf King Valerian didn’t go there to make a move on them, afraid that he might get killed instead. That’s why dwarf king Garan never met Elf Vera until recently when he was freed from the water dungeon.
Now Dwarf King Garan believes that the elves that follow the former king and not his friend, Valerian, are the true elf warriors of their race.
Elf Vera said, "I will hide your scent with wind elements. You find a place to hide. We will try to ambush them."
"Alright! Everyone, find a hiding spot!" Dwarf King Garan commanded.
The dwarf warrior spread. Some hid under ground and the others at the two sides of the road. Elf Vera summoned his wind and asked it to mask their scent. He carried Dwarf King Garan to the air with them. They would ambush from the above.
It took a while for the preparations to be completed but they were all well hidden when the human led by the human general who failed his tasks at the gates were punished to purge both the remnants of the Dwarf race and the Elven race. He was about to attack the Elven Race whose territory was found by their scouts when suddenly a recent report about spotting dwarf remnants and some elves was heard by him. He chose the closer one and chased after them himself.
The human general can still recall what happened in the Marshal’ office when he reported the failure of his mission at the gates.
At the Marshal’s office...
After hearing that he is being summoned by the Marshal, the human general was terrified by the punishment from his master. Even though the adjutant that stood beside their master says he will not die, the moment he entered the room something had grabbed his neck, instantly giving him a choke.
Urgh!
"M-Master... please... spare... this servant... of yours..." Beg the human general.
The one who caught his neck was none other than the monstrous being that his master signed a contract with.
Marshal Gu Ying waves his hand and the monster that held his neck let him go. The General started coughing and traces of something gripping his neck can be seen. It was obvious that the force of that monster when he grabbed him by his neck was something.
"You failed your mission. What is your excuse?" Marshal Gu Ying asked.
The human general immediately knelt down with his head on the ground and said, "This servant didn’t expect the beastmen messengers to be willing to give away their lives just to enter the city. They even move as a group but enter individually as if trying to find a hole within the formation. One... One of them had slipped through. Even before their deaths they used some kind of flare and it was already too late to stop it."
The human marshal didn’t seem to mind his explanation and just asked, "Their corpses... have you checked it?"
"N-No... We’ve burned them to ashes so..." The human general said as he sneaked a peek and met the cold eyes of his master devoid of any emotions.
Marshal Gu Ying said, "It’s just an hour since you arrived. Call your subordinates to check on that pile of ashes you are talking about."
"Y-Yes!" The human marshal did as he was told. Even though they do not understand the hidden meaning of his master’s word he still called his people and was shocked by what he heard.
"WHAT!? What do you mean there is no ashes!?!" The general exclaimed on the spot.
