Chapter 452: Tempest Storm

The moment the sky darkened, Kassie glanced up with a grimace and then suddenly exploded with motion. She leaped backwards, into the sky, dodging the pillar of lightning by a hair’s breadth.

The impact that was wrenched open the moment the lightning struck the ground hit her and destroyed her flow, causing her to roll through the air and fall on the snow.

Still before falling, Kassie took an impossible spin with her entire body and landed on her leg, staggering back several paces before stabbing her sword into the snow and finally stopping.

A fog of snow had obscured the area where Kassie had rolled out from. Her gaze was sick there now, with an unreadable expression on her face. There were several shallow cuts across her body but none of them seemed to bother her one beat.

In that moment though, Kassie’s armor stretched forward, with a fluid movement, it crawled over her explosed skin forming a second body over her.

It extended across her entire body and eventually she was standing, with her entire body encased in an obsidian tight suit. The helmet finally covered her face, releasing two hollow crimson eyes and horns.

Her figure was immaculate, it was like a second skin, every contour, every curve was impeccably carved and her chest, trembled with each movement.

Kassie dragged her great sword across the snow and then stopped after reaching half the distance from the obscuring fog.

Instantly, something shot out of the fog and flashed, reaching Kassie in less than a second, it approached Kassie and from behind her, an halberd whipped forward with a blur. And detonated against Kassie’s sword that vertically blocked her side.

A dangerous shockwave swept snow outward. But an odd hurricane lifted them with furious winds, turning into a cyclonic storm that created a wall between Kassie and her.

Somehow, the two of them were instantly cut off from the rest of the world.

Kassie glared at her, but through the evil crimson eyes. She twirled her great sword and then vanished.

The next second, a terrifying clash resounded across, the impact of the clash threatened to rend the storm apart but was absorbed.

The summon held her halberd against Kassie’s great sword, her stormy eyes, emotionlessly glued to Kassie.

Kassie suddenly, threw a jab into the summon’s ribs, causing her to bend sideways. Instantly, she sent a kick forward, slamming her leg against the temple of the summon. The summon crashed to the ground and rolled away.

But her recovery was swift.

The summon’s lightning-wreathed form slammed into Kassie like a living thunderbolt, driving both combatants backward through the cyclonic wall. Snow and wind howled around them in a frenzied vortex.

Kassie’s obsidian armor held firm, the second skin absorbing the crackling voltage that danced across its surface, yet the sheer momentum sent them skidding across the frozen ground.

With a grunt of raw power, Kassie twisted mid-flight and drove the pommel of her great sword downward into the summon’s midsection. The impact cratered the ice beneath them as they landed.

Tempest rolled away instantly, vanishing in a flash of lightning only to reappear above Kassie, halberd already descending in a blurring arc.

Kassie raised her great sword in a vertical block, the weapons colliding with a detonation that split the storm wall for a heartbeat before the hurricane roared back into place. Shockwaves rippled outward, uprooting chunks of snow and hurling them into the cyclonic barrier.

Kassie’s crimson eyes burned brighter through the helmet as she pushed upward with pillar-like strength, forcing the halberd aside and launching a sweeping horizontal cut.

The summon twisted like wind itself, the blade whistling past her by inches. Lightning arced from her stormy eyes, lashing out in jagged chains that struck Kassie’s armored shoulder.

The obsidian suit sparked violently, shallow cuts reopening beneath the second skin, but Kassie did not falter. She charged forward, dragging her great sword through the snow and swinging it in a devastating overhead smash.

Tempest met it head-on, halberd spinning in a defensive whirlwind that absorbed the blow’s force. The ground beneath their feet shattered into a spiderweb of fractures.

Kassie pressed the advantage, her body moving like a bastion of unyielding power. She released one hand from the great sword and drove a heavy fist into Tempest’s guard, the punch carrying enough force to bend the halberd’s shaft momentarily.

The summon staggered, emotionless face unchanging, but her stormy eyes flared. A sudden gust exploded from her position, lifting her backward while summoning a pillar of lightning directly under Kassie’s feet. Kassie leaped sideways, the explosion of electricity singing the edge of her obsidian armor and sending her tumbling through the air once more.

She recovered mid-roll, spinning her entire body like before and landing on one leg with perfect balance. Snow fog billowed around her.

Without pause, she vanished into her own explosive motion, reappearing in a blur to deliver a kick that caught Tempest in the ribs.

The summon folded, but lightning surged through her body, electrocuting Kassie’s leg on contact and forcing a separation. Both flew apart, crashing into opposite sides of the storm enclosure.

The cyclonic wall howled louder, feeding on their violence.

Tempest rose first, lightning coiling around her halberd like a serpent. She flashed forward in a streak of blue-white fury, halberd whipping in a series of rapid thrusts and slashes that tested Kassie’s defenses.

Kassie’s great sword became a moving wall, blocking each strike with earth-shaking impacts. Sparks flew where metal met metal, and each clash sent fresh shockwaves rippling into the hurricane.

One thrust slipped through, grazing Kassie’s armored thigh and drawing another shallow cut that the obsidian suit quickly sealed over.

Kassie countered with brutal efficiency. She parried a downward halberd strike and immediately followed with a pommel bash to the summon’s chest, then a knee driven upward.

Tempest absorbed the hits with storm-like resilience, her body flickering with lightning to mitigate the damage.

She retaliated by summoning a localized hurricane burst right in Kassie’s face, the winds screaming as they tried to lift and disorient the armored warrior.

Kassie planted her feet, stabbing her great sword into the ground for an anchor, and roared silently through her helmet as she powered through the gale. Her muscles strained visibly beneath the second skin, curves and contours flexing with raw might.

Both of them, in a strange and deliberate charm were locked in a tight formation that prevented Kassie from breaking free.

No matter what, she could not get past the summon and her vortex. She had been completely cut from the battlefield.
