I Only Summon Villainesses

Chapter 544: The Monster Got To Him

Chapter 544: The Monster Got To Him

There was no time for ignorance. The only thing that stayed on my mind was the fact that she needed to survive at all costs.

So I ran and ran, giving no care to what my nose perceived. The thing was, no matter how disgusted I was by the smell, it wasn’t enough to make me feel like I was weakening or losing my mind.

The urge to vomit my very stomach out was there, but it didn’t feel threatening. And it was no surprise, after all. I had layers of attributes protecting me from mental attacks like that.

Eventually, I saw the lake not too far ahead, and I stumbled right into it. Relief washed over me, causing Ilse to spill out of my hand and tumble away, with me following right behind her.

Not caring about the gruesome little scratches covering the surface of my skin and elbows, I laid back on the ground and stared at the roof of the cave, breathing hard, my heart swollen with relief.

“Ilse! Ilse! Can you hear me?!”

Quickly, I yanked myself up and paid attention to her. I leaned low and placed my ear near her nostrils. After making sure she was breathing, I placed my hands on her chest.

The pulse was there, but it was weak.

However, it was there, and the stench certainly did not get here.

Now that she was safe and the stench did not reach here, I gripped Wren tightly.

‘Hey, easy, easy. You know I can feel things too, right?’

This time, I couldn’t afford to respond to Wren’s tantrums. Perhaps that was the reason why she didn’t bother throwing another one.

She stayed silent, and the next second, I unleashed a vicious dash, breaking through the distance separating the stench and me.

‘I’m going to carve that damn monster in two.’

With ruthless determination boiling in my head, I shot across the cavern, watching the cavern wall fly past me in a blur. All the distance I had covered twice over was being covered once more.

And this time, far faster than I had ever been.

Then I suddenly felt something… Someone.

With Death Sense giving me an imminent premonition, I shoved myself to the right and raised my sword, blocking the strike as it came from my side.

Then I tilted the weight of my sword and shoved it to the side. Immediately, I lunged with my elbow and smacked the face of the person attacking me, making them stagger back.

But before I could get a glimpse of their face, they had retreated into the embrace of the darkness.

I manifested one of the daggers that Maggie had given me, holding it in one hand while Wren rested in my other.

‘Bold of you to assume you could handle me with one hand.’

I never responded to her. Instead, my eyes scrutinized the darkness, searching.

And it wasn’t long before I found something.

In the same breath, Death Sense opened, and I didn’t need to look to know where the attack was coming from. Fortunately, my eyes were already fixed on the same place.

The moment he plunged out of the darkness with a cold longsword, I threw my right hand forward, blocking with Wren.

I felt his power double down, and he pressed against me, pushing me backward two steps before I generated momentum of my own, resisting his strength with force drawn from my legs and balance.

My dagger was poised beside me, hidden from his eyes intentionally, and his lower body was open.

His ribs were open.

“You’re a dead motherfucka. I knew you couldn’t be trusted!”

He didn’t respond.

Well, I didn’t need him to either.

I twisted the dagger in my hand, ready to bury it into his side. However, at that moment, I saw his face and froze in shock.

Of course, in such a moment, the bastard felt my power reduce, and he used the weight of his sword to throw my block off balance.

He grabbed my collar and pulled me in for a factory-resetting headbutt that sent my hand flying back. I staggered and hit the wall behind me.

That was when my senses came back.

But he was already moving, swinging an arc from behind him.

Instantly, my gaze sharpened.

‘This bastard!’

My essence was only a trickle. Death Sense didn’t consume essence, and Feather Step consumed only a trickle depending on the distance.

I vanished from in front of him and appeared behind him.

My sword flew out before he could even realize it, and the pommel slammed against the back of his head, sending him staggering forward until his face kissed the rocky wall.

Meanwhile, I grinned, enjoying the moment.

‘Oh, how I wish I could capture this moment.’

I threw a foot forward and stamped it onto his lower back, slamming him against the wall a second time.

Before he could turn on me, I grabbed a fistful of his hair.

“I’m sure it’s a wig, you freak!”

Then I yanked it backward, expecting the wig on his head to follow.

Instead, strands came with my hand, and his white hair was suddenly all over the place.

He lurched backward, losing his balance.

Even though I was shocked, blinking when I saw that there was no wig, I brought my leg down and buried it into his chest as he went down, causing the ground to resound with a thunderous crash.

He stayed on the ground for a moment.

He did not stand up and did not bother to move.

“Hey! Welcome back to you too! Is this how a reunion is really supposed to be?!”

I yelled at him, red-hot with anger.

However, he said nothing.

And that was just in line with his character.

I grinned with one corner of my mouth and lifted my foot off him, bending down to his level.

“For a moment, I was concerned, thinking you didn’t end up here with me. Turned out you were here the whole time.”

His eyes suddenly glowered with a ghastly crimson light, sending an eerie goosebump across my entire body.

Death Sense warned me so detrimentally that my body acted on its own, and I leaped back several steps.

And watched from afar.

‘That… something is wrong. Why does he look like a freaking zombie?’

I paused for a moment, frowned, and realized.

‘Oh fuck me. It got to you?!’
