Chapter 2475 - Movie Watching with Kaori ⑪

Although she ended up listening once again to Kaito’s passionately charged explanation, this time they were still in transit, and there was a kind of time limit in place, the conversation would be cut off once they reached Kaito’s room. Because of that, Kaori listened to his talk about Nebula with a wry smile.

Before long, they arrived in front of the room. The conversation came to a pause there, and, prompted by Kaito, she stepped inside.

[……Huge!? It’s like on the level of a hotel suite, with the bed being king-sized too…… The rich-person aura is just way too overwhelming……]

[This room was arranged based on the guest room I was using at Lilia-san’s mansion while I was staying there after all.]

[Ahh, if it’s modeled after a Duchy’s guest room, then I guess a suite-like size makes sense. I mean…… it’s still amazing though.]

The one who built Kaito’s house was Alice. To make it easy for Kaito to live in, the interior design of Kaito’s room was modeled after the guest room he had used in Lilia’s mansion, but since he was the homeowner, the room itself had been expanded in size.

It was a room so spacious that an ordinary person like Kaori would almost never have a chance to see one like it, and the items displayed inside radiated an overwhelming sense of luxury as well.

Even if it was the room of Kaito, someone she was fairly close to, it was only natural that she would feel a bit overawed by the sheer opulence.

[……Ahh, you got the birthday photos too. Arehh? And this painting on the wall…… is this Japan? It kind of feels like a festival stall scene.]

[Ah, that one’s…… hard to explain. It’s a painting of a festival from a dream…… I guess you could say?]

[That painting was a gift from Alice, but…… how do I put it, there was this thing where, in a dream-like state, or maybe a world of consciousness only, Alice and I went around a festival together. This is a painting of the scenery from back then.]

[H- Hmmm…… I don’t really get the situation, but if it’s you, Kaito-kun, I guess it wouldn’t be strange for something like that to happen…… Still, I should probably say it’s amazing, like, as expected of the Phantasmal King-sama. It’s an incredible painting. It really pulls you in…… I don’t know anything about art, but it feels really captivating somehow…… Yeah, it’s a really nice painting~~]

[It’s warm and cheerful, but there’s also a hint of loneliness to it…… It really feels like it captured the atmosphere of a festival just as it was. I like it a lot too.]

Kaito and Kaori’s impressions were fairly simple, but if someone knowledgeable about art, like Rosemary, had been there, they would have been utterly engrossed in the painting.

After all, this painting had been created using the same paint as the legendary artwork Seven Planet.

The paint used to create Seven Planet was a mysterious kind of paint Alice had made long ago after defeating the Seven-Star Demon Beast, a magical beast born of the stars, using its materials. It was something that could be said to be almost impossible to recreate.

After finishing her true masterpiece, Blue Earth, and then Seven Planet with the remaining paint, Alice had kept what little was left…… an amount not even enough to finish a single painting as a keepsake.

Later on, she realized that Makina’s Heart Tool, Factory Gear, could be used to increase the amount of paint. Using copied and multiplied paint, she painted this festival scene and presented it to Kaito as a gift.

In other words, this was, in a sense, the newest…… a work that could be called the ninth iteration of the Seven Planet series. It was an artwork of tremendous value, but since Kaito wasn’t particularly well-versed in art, and Alice herself had simply painted a nostalgic scene as a gift without bothering to explain anything about the paint, its true worth was still unknown.

If Rosemary were to visit Kaito’s room, she would notice it immediately. However, the last time she visited the house, they had tea on the garden terrace, and afterward it was usually Kaito who went to visit Rosemary’s home instead, so she still hadn’t laid eyes on this painting.

[But festivals really are nice huh~~ Maybe there are festivals with a similar vibe in this world too.]

[There probably are…… actually, the thing Kuro produced for the first Six Kings Festival was kind of festival-like, so I think it’s pretty likely.]

[Searching for them sounds fun. Lately I’ve had a bit more financial leeway too, so I’ve been thinking that traveling could be fun. Well, it’ll probably be a little different from Japanese festivals, but that’s part of the fun too.]

[True. Ah, though, if you use that gate over there, you can go to Japan too.]

Hearing the words Kaito said so casually, Kaori stared blankly back and forth between the gate in the room and Kaito’s face.

[Errr, that gate is something I received from Shiro-san, and it can be used to travel to the Otherworld. It seems that, basically, no one other than me can make the trip to the Otherworld…… but if someone is holding my hand or in physical contact with me, we can move together. So if you really wanted to, you could go to Japan too. Well, there are restrictions, like you can’t bring things from over there to this side, that sort of thing.]

My heart almost stopped…… So that means if I’m with Kaito-kun, I can go to the Otherworld…… Well, my existence over there, including official records and all, has already been erased, and I don’t really think about going back at this point, but…… that’s still a pretty shocking fact.]

Kaori didn’t have any particular lingering attachment to the Otherworld, so even after hearing about the existence of a gate that allowed travel between worlds, she didn’t really feel like going there. Still, a certain thought crossed her mind.

(……But if you think about it that way, doesn’t that mean something like a Harajuku date, the thing I always dreamed about, would also be possible? Ahh, no, but since I can’t travel unless you’re with Kaito-kun, that basically means my boyfriend would have to be Kaito-kun…… which means…… which means…… w- well…… that’s n- not really a problem either…… a- and besides, that’s not what this is about right now anyway…… I- I mean, it’s just, you know, as a reference for the future…… just the possibility that a dream-like youth date could happen someday…… Y- Yeah! Serious-senpai : [Well, to begin with, Heroes are summoned through the Hero Summoning ritual that targets people who already harbor desires like “I want to disappear from this world” or “I want to go to another world”. After being summoned, they go on a pilgrimage and live in the other world for about a year before weighing the options and choosing whether to return or stay, so I guess it makes sense that she doesn’t really have much lingering attachment to her original world…… That aside…… somehow, the sugar content is going up again…… This is bad. It’s not a good trend.]
