I ended up coming to Vanessa-san’s room after being invited to have drinks in the middle of the day. It’s not like this is my first time here, so it’s not particularly new to me, but as always, the room is neatly organized and spotless. Even now, she casually brought four bottles of beer, and the fact that she placed all four on the table right from the start suggested she intended to drink at a pretty fast pace.

Vanessa-san handed me a glass, then casually popped open the beer bottle cap with her thumb and poured it for me. The fact that she removed the cap so naturally without using an opener just goes to show that, in the end, she’s one of the superhumans known as maids.

As she said that, Vanessa-san naturally lit up a cigarette as if it were second nature. Thanks to the magic tool, no smoke drifted my way, but even though it was still daytime, this was completely the vibe of someone having drinks before a day off.

Laughing lightly, Vanessa-san still carried that languid air about her, yet she looked like she was genuinely enjoying herself. Somehow, she really is easy to talk to.

Though the label “hopeless” definitely applies to her, she still gives off that strong vibe of an easygoing older woman you can relax around.
