Chapter 2570 - Demon Realm Amusement Park ①
Chapter 2570 - Demon Realm Amusement Park ①
As I watched the scenery of the Demon Realm flow past outside, I turned toward Aoi-chan and Hina-chan, who both looked like they were having the time of their lives.
[So you two haven’t really been to the Demon Realm much, right?]
[Hardly at all. Just that party on the ship before, and the Harmonic Symphony.]
[Our adventurer work is mostly centered around the Human Realm after all. Though I’ve heard that top-ranked adventurers sometimes get jobs in the Demon Realm and end up helping the Six Kings’ subordinates……]
Right now, we were on our way to the pre-opening of the amusement park Kuro and Alice had built in the Demon Realm. Lilia-san and the others were coming too, but the transport carriage…… well, I guess calling it a carriage was technically correct? Since fitting everyone into a single carriage would’ve been difficult, we split up into groups.
We could’ve just used teleportation magic to get there instantly, but this time the trip itself was part of the pre-opening experience. We were traveling from Kuromu Lake to the amusement park by carriage.
The ten of us were divided up like this: me, Aoi-chan, and Hina-chan in one carriage; Lilia-san, Luna-san, and Sieg-san in another; and Anima, Caraway, Eta, and Theta in the last.
We had invited Illness-san too, but she apparently had other business this time and couldn’t come. She did say she’d join the small trip later on to the hot spring town Shiro-san was building.
[But this carriage is really comfortable. It barely shakes at all…… though the thing pulling it looks less like a horse and more like some gigantic monster……]
[Maybe it’s because the Demon Realm has so many monsters compared to the Human Realm? Normal horses would probably get scared by the monsters’ presence.]
As I listened to Aoi-chan answer Hina-chan’s comment, I looked toward the creature pulling the carriage. It was some kind of dinosaur-like monster.
It was hard to describe exactly, but it looked like a tyrannosaurus with enlarged forelegs walking on all fours…… the kind of thing that looked obviously powerful at first glance.
[I wonder what kind of monster it is?]
[……I think it’s probably a monster called a Grapfoot. They don’t live in the Human Realm, only in the Demon Realm. They really look carnivorous, but if I remember right, they’re actually herbivores.]
[Ooh, as expected of Aoi-senpai, you really know your stuff. Arehh? Somehow, dinosaur-like monsters in the Demon Realm…… isn’t this different from the one we learned about in training?]
Aoi-chan, who probably studied all sorts of things daily as an adventurer, answered my question immediately. Hina-chan, meanwhile, didn’t seem as familiar with the topic and muttered while trying to jog her memory.
[The one from training was the Agisaurus, right? The super dangerous and violent one they warned us not to approach its habitat……]
[……Ah, Bell’s snack……]
I knew the Agisaurus pretty well too, or rather, it was the monster used to make Bell’s favorite beef jerky. Since Bell always looked so happy eating it, it was easy to forget, but apparently it was an extremely dangerous monster whose hide and flesh were both harder than steel.
[But this is exciting! An amusement park, an amusement park! I never thought I’d get to go to one in this world!]
[Hina-chan really does seem like the type who’d love this kind of thing. What about you, Aoi-chan?]
[I do have knowledge about them, but I’ve actually never been to one before.]
The conversation shifted to the amusement park we were heading toward, and Hina-chan’s excitement was exactly what I’d imagined. Her enthusiasm was obvious even from the outside.
On the other hand, I’d never really pictured Aoi-chan as someone who went to amusement parks much, but when I actually asked her, it turned out she’d never been to one at all.
[Ehh!? Aoi-senpai, you’ve never been to an amusement park before? Not even as a kid with your family or something?]
[Go out with the people from that household? ……Just imagining it makes me sick.]
[……You really do casually reveal some pretty dark stuff whenever the topic of your family comes up, Aoi-senpai.]
It wasn’t some rebellious phase or anything like that. Seeing the expression on Aoi-chan’s face, one filled with nothing but pure, visceral disgust, made even Hina-chan respond with an awkward look.
Aoi-chan’s hatred toward her family was completely genuine. Honestly, it felt like she even hated calling them “family” in the first place…… She almost never referred to them that way, usually just saying “my parents’ house”. She truly seemed to despise them from the bottom of her heart.
[W- Well, if it’s your first time, then it’ll probably feel really fresh and exciting, right? I mean, you can probably imagine what the attractions are like, but…… they’ve adapted everything to fit this world, so I bet a lot of things are different.]
[……That’s true. I am looking forward to it when all’s said and done. Kaito-san, you’ve gone before, right?]
[I have, but back then, it was basically still in the stage where Shiro-san had just made it and they were still improving it afterward. I mean, one of Shiro-san’s roller coasters moved at ten times the speed of sound for over 10 minutes…… and the initial version was designed based on Lilia-san’s physical abilities……]
[Ehhhhhh…… A- Are you sure the place we’re going to now is safe!? If it’s designed around Lilia-san’s standards, won’t we get turned into chunks of meat!?]
[W- Well, Kuro and Alice adjusted everything, so it should be fine.]
That was Lilia-san’s standard for you. Well, to be fair, attractions built around Lilia-san’s physical capabilities really would turn ordinary people into minced meat machines……
<Afterword>
Serious-senpai : [This may seem like the moment where I braced myself for the date chapter to happen…… but maybe the real deal is at the hot springs? No, wait, they could also be lulling me into a false sense of security before striking……]
