Chapter 562: Embrace with a Taste of Blood?
Chapter 562: Embrace with a Taste of Blood?
Before Lillian could have the chance to finish her words, she needed to dodge. With a conscious thought, Lillian transformed her body into water - avoiding the rubble completely - before reforming.
She then looked up towards the sky, finding dark tentacles peeling chunks out of the roof of the mansion before lobbing them at her - more specifically, the Flag of Reclamation.
It had devised a plan to get around the Flag of Reclamation’s suppressing effects!
Unfortunately, that plan wouldn’t work against her.
With a wave of her hand, Lillian began to shoot down the volley of rubble like an anti-air turret before moving on to reclaim more land from the darkness.
As time went on, Lillian found herself annoyed by her lack of progress. The more the darkness ripped apart the mansion to attack her, the more mana she needed expend to defend - that in itself wasn’t that big of a deal.
However, she was wasting time.
If she were to lift the flag to move, the darkness that had once receded would return in seconds. She had to move carefully, for the moment, the True Darkness would surround her entirely, and it would be game over.
Her mana was too weak to purify it. Nothing in her arsenal would be able to suppress it if she were caught in the air, even with the flag. And if she was too slow to dodge, the darkness would shred through her body like she was made of cotton.
And yet...
She was willing to face the obvious risks.
Separating her mind into two, making full use of her enchantment’s [Parallel Thinking], she grabbed hold of her flag’s pole and yanked it up from the ground.
Allowing her other mind for defence, Lillian scoured the surroundings around her - calculating.
Then, with a heave, she chucked the flagpole towards Marionette’s window, which was still left intact by the darkness.
It shot through the air and shattered through her window; when Lillian was about to be overrun with darkness, the flag was able to plant itself into a wall - saving Lillian at the very last second.
Seeing that the flag was about to embed itself into a hard surface, Lillian swiftly made her way towards the shattered window - hopping several times and soon able to enter.
And when she did, her body collided with the side of a flying syringe, knocking it off course, much to the Gardener’s surprise.
Ignoring the syringe’s existence, Lillian twisted her body in Marionette’s direction, summoned the medicine from her ring and threw it at her.
Marionette, who watched as the medicine flew towards her, clawed her way through the darkness that enveloped her.
She casted the hand from which the darkness was sprouting back and reached out with her other hand to catch the thrown medicine.
The darkness around her watched this sight with unbridled rage. With a stir, the darkness beneath the medicine shot upwards - slicing through the glass bottle with ease before reeling as though it had made contact with acid.
The medicine from the bottle spilt out from the gaps, splashing onto Marionette’s shocked face.
But.
That was what Lillian had more or less expected.
Before she had thrown the glass bottle, she had imbued the medicine with a special Unorthodox Element of hers - Parasitism.
The medicine that had splashed onto Marionette’s face began to rapidly diffuse through her skin, her muscles, and eventually... into her dark bloodstream.
She had given her element a special instruction. Upon contact with biological material, it clings to it and enters through any pores it can find.
In the past, instructions like these - despite appearing simple - were more difficult for her, but with her current affinity with mana, it had made it a lot easier for her to do something as creative as this.
Lillian watched as the darkness around them receded to the point where only natural darkness remained, leaving Marionette in all of her glory to be revealed without her darkened veins.
Marionette felt the medicine enter through her pores and into her bloodstream, then felt a burning but also relieving sensation as the pain inflicted on her by the darkness subsided greatly to the point where she could barely feel it.
She then felt the feeling surge towards her Mana Core, improving shells of it to become sturdier and more secure - while also having a slight "divine" touch to it.
The True Darkness, which resided within her Mana Core, was incredibly unhappy; furious even. How dare these humans contain it again! If it wasn’t for the fact that it was in a weakened state, it would’ve torn all of them apart!
As Marionette felt the ecstatic effects, she felt as though... Something was missing...
Something that would tie everything together.
Blinking back to consciousness, Marionette looked around before settling her gaze on Lillian - marvelling at her appearance, but unfortunately, she felt something other than love for her...
Lillian, sensing the Assassin’s gaze on her, smiled broadly as she took a subconscious step forward. She had felt it was forever since she last saw Marionette’s face, and to think she would see this early in person!
Opening her arms, Lillian strode forward with the intention to embrace her beloved Assassin. And when she did, she hugged tightly - the feeling of separation between them disappearing immediately.
She hugged tighter, pressing herself closer to the woman as she subconsciously tried to remove any gaps between them.
Lillian felt her heart swell up like a balloon as longing within her surged out in waves. She had missed her girlfriend greatly.
"I missed you so much." Lillian mumbled, soon after... Felt there was something odd about the ambience.
More specifically, she felt something was about Marionette. It could just be her, but she felt her girlfriend was a bit quieter than usual.
The moment Lillian pulled away slightly to get a better look at Marionette’s face, she was immediately pulled back in.
"Lillian..." Marionette whispered mysteriously, a shadow falling over her face as she tilted her head down.
"H-huh? Yes?" Lillian stuttered, surprised by the sudden action, but had no intentions of pushing against it.
But what happened next caused the Rabbit’s eyes to widen as a warm and sharp pain assaulted her shoulder.
"Huh?" Lillian gasped quietly.
Marionette, without any warning whatsoever, had bit down on Lillian’s shoulder - her teeth digging through the Rabbit’s flesh as the taste of Lillian’s blood reached her tongue.
