Chapter 602: The Moment it all Clicked together?

Now clutching her face, Marionette began to laugh; her dry voice quickly growing in volume as her laughter echoed far enough for Damien to hear her voice.

Having decided not to return to the dining hall yet, Damien leaned his back against the wall, nursing the side of his head before instantly freezing in place like a petrified statue.

He quickly swung his head around, left to right, in search of laughter’s owner before wincing and clutching his head again, overcome with vertigo due to his sudden movements.

He could recognise the voice of the laughter; it was none other than that damned female Assassin!

"What the hell is going on...?" Damien hissed loudly, slowly pulling out his phone and calling his Bloodhounds.

Before the voice on the otherside could say anything—

"I want all eyes on Marionette Von Roselle, this instant, do you hear me?!"

—Damien had already given out his orders.

"And prevent her from doing anything rash!"

...

While that was happening, Lillian was rooted to the ground from shock as she watched Marionette continue to laugh - her voice growing more crazed by the second.

"Hahahaha!"

She hadn’t ever heard Marionette laugh like this before, or sound this crazed!

’Something is definitely wrong...!’ Lillian shouted inside her head, noticing Aurelia hid behind her even more in the corner of her eyes.

Marionete noticed this as well, causing her laughter to soon come to a quiet stop.

Then, she began to mutter ominously:

"I understand it now... the reason why you wanted to come to this place. The reason why you wanted to linger around these disgusting nobles... to think it was all so you could meet with some woman behind my back—"

"THAT’S NOT THE REASON AT ALL!" Lillian shouted, hurt by Marionette’s insinuation, "Why would you think such a thing—?"

"You give me nothing else for me to think!" Marionette yelled back, continuing to clutch her face tightly, "You even prevented me from coming with you to the restroom. Prevented ME from making sure you’re okay! But to think it’s all so you can meet up with some BITCH, who’s trying to take you away from ME...!"

Lillian became stunned at Marionette’s emotional outburst. Was her girlfriend... Jealous?

Aurelia, sensing that her presence was causing trouble, whispered to Lillian:

"Is it best if I leave, Lillian?"

"Maybe, try to see if you ca—"

"NO ONE LEAVES!"

Within a fraction of a second, Marionette threw a dark javelin towards Aurelia’s head - intending on ending her before she even moves.

Unfortunately for her, Lillian had already moved to intercept the weapon, knocking it away with a strike of her knuckles and sending it shattering through a window.

Aurelia flinched in fear, unable to react to the entire sequence and only awakening to the sound of the window shattering.

Lillian’s expression was serious, growing more serious by the second at what she was looking at.

With furrowed brows, Lillian lowered her hand to her side - the skin of her knuckles reddened from striking the javelin. She looked towards Marionette’s face, which was finally exposed; no longer covered by the woman’s hand.

Crawling up the woman’s neck and reaching her cheeks were several distinct black veins, still increasing in length as time went on.

At this moment in time, Marionette was now becoming strongly affected by the True Darkness’s effects, leading her mind to create several impossible scenarios and making those thoughts branch into more impossible scenarios.

The True Darkness was attacking her hidden insecurity.

However, the True Darkness wasn’t the only one at fault for causing her to think this way. For it to force her into creating these thoughts, it would need her to have something in mind first.

Millis’s words.

"She might be meeting with someone she knows really well~..."

These were the words Millis told her.

If Millis hadn’t told these words to Marionette, then the reaction the Assassin would’ve had to Lillian walking with someone else would’ve been much milder than what she was feeling right now.

"What does she have... THAT I DON’T, LILLIAN?!" Marionette screamed in frustration before vanishing into a blur.

Lillian flinched, panicking as she found her surroundings darken at an exceeding rate.

Alarm bells then rang inside her mind, notifying her of danger.

She turned to the side swiftly and found the tip of a dark javelin aiming directly towards Aurelia in between her brows.

Marionette held the other end of the javelin, lunging forward with a dark mask shrouding her face - her eyes glowing a fierce blood red.

’Fast!’ Lillian thought.

The Rabbit quickly moved to shove Aurelia back before charging towards Marionette, hoping to grapple with her.

SWIP!

Unfortunately, even with her Tier 3 physique, Lillian was still too slow to contend with Marionette.

The Assassin swiftly shifted the direction of her javelin, aiming it down. Then, she stabbed - piercing her dark weapon into the ground and using it as a vaulting pole.

With incredible gymnastic and mobility, she leveraged her body over Lillian and continued her chase of Aurelia, who had now begun to run.

Lillian also moved to chase after Marionette, intending to stop the Assassin.

Aurelia kept on running, dodging close-calls after close-calls, silently cursing her own dress for almost tripping her up.

After noticing that Aurelia managed to get away from her yet again, Marionette clicked her tongue as she watched Lillian move in front of her again - blocking her path.

Marionette gritted her teeth as she gripped the handle of her revolver, which she had summoned just minutes before.

"What can you possibly gain from stopping me, Lillian?! Move!"

"Not until you calm down!" Lillian shouted back.

With heavy breathing and a sweat-covered face, Lillian moved into a stance, tilting her head to get a better look at the corridor behind Marionette.

It was partially destroyed.

At some point, Marionette had gone to use the revolver she was gifted to kill Aurelia, thus leading to countless explosions along the corridor.

Fortunately, the material that made up the corridor was highly resilient and durable, making it so that only the furniture and decorations were reduced to shattered pieces.

But that right now wasn’t Lillian’s main focus.

Shifting her gaze back to Marionette, Lillian finally understood or had mostly figured out the reason why Damien might have turned back time.

Marionette had killed Damien.

But for what reason?

As Lillian continued to think, her thoughts were quickly interrupted when Marionette suddenly leapt at her.
