I Will Create a Good Ending for the Yandere Villainess

Chapter 622: Practicing Air-Movement?

Chapter 622: Practicing Air-Movement?

Millis continued to swing her axe wildly, while utilising the wings on her back to make her appear as a blur - slashing through a crowd of enemy mages.

But as she did this, she had certainly noticed the difficulty increase.

After injecting themselves with the syringe, the thugs were now suddenly filled with more energy and mana, allowing them to pull off attacks that required Millis to block.

Due to Lillian requiring her mana to stay alive, Millis had been using her mana sparingly, to the bare minimum.

Thus far, she had yet to use her earth element or any other abilities.

The only times she used her mana were to either fortify her defences or to increase her physical strength - the latter happening rarely due to the existence of her axe, which continued to supply her with a large amount of strength.

At this moment in time, Millis had the strength comparable to two entire elephants; more if she used her mana.

Tearing through the waves of enemy mages, Millis turned her eyes to the battle happening in the air.

SWISH SWISH SWISH

Lillian swiftly manoeuvred herself through the air, dodging the Salesman’s speedy lunges at her.

The Rabbit felt slightly disoriented.

Since this was her first battle in a spiritual form, she hadn’t yet been able to fully adapt to her newfound mobility - specifically, the weightlessness of her body.

Even though her earlier moments against the grunts gave her useful experience, Lillian still felt like a balloon with no sense of direction of where to move or complete control over her flight.

Because of the attack she blocked earlier, Lillian’s last shred of curiosity for enduring attacks was completely stripped away.

For such little damage to affect her, Lillian’s fear of being hit grew exponentially.

Fortunately, her instincts were enough to pull her out of harm’s way, but Lillian didn’t know for how long.

That was because—

’Too fast!’

—The Salesman was too fast.

The Salesman was a Tier 3 Mage, but unlike the one that Marionette fought, he was stronger. Sure, earth mages were usually known for their sturdiness to endure attacks, but he was different - he was experienced.

Like any logical person, he bought items to cover his weak spots.

Injured? He bought a healing item. Unable to endure strong attacks? He bought a defensive item. Too slow? He bought a mobility item.

Some people in this world only think of one thing: to have strength strong enough to pummel anything in their path. But what was the point if you didn’t last long enough to show off such strength?

Individuals in this world have become too reliant on others. Parties usually have five individuals.

One to endure attacks. One to heal injuries caused by the attacks. One to deal with the attacks. Another for auxiliary purposes like storage, buffing, or mobility. And the last to substitute in for the tank, in case they went down.

This was the usual setup for a well-rounded team.

However, just because the Trials required you to work together with others didn’t mean you should disregard options outside of your role.

Having grown up in the squalors of the Underworld, the Salesman knew that depending on others wasn’t the most optimal decision in such a harsh environment.

After all, in a place where murder can be covered and no one would know your name the day after, the only thing people could depend on was the benefits of their actions and results.

The Salesman kicked off the ground and flashed through the air, brandishing his shadow blade before positioning himself for a stab.

"[Wretched Thrust]!" He roared out the name of his attack.

FWIP!

Lillian gritted her teeth as she held up her water sword.

While simultaneously leaning back, Lillian instantly moved her water sword to parry the Salesman, struggling.

Afterwards, Lillian moved to intercept the man’s fall, immediately counter-attacking with strong killing intent in her eyes.

Gripping the handle of her weapon, Lillian made a familiar slashing motion.

"[Tidebreaker Slash]!"

Manifesting behind Lillian’s slash, a virtual sea wave that reached the peak of 3 metres tall washed through the air - targeting the Salesman, who widened his eyes.

’Technique Expression...!?’ He shouted in his mind in disbelief.

In all his years of mercenary work, he still hadn’t been able to get out of the Soldier stage in the Martial Realm. Yet, this Tier 3 mage before him had already achieved it?!

Without any desire to risk being hit directly by Lillian’s attack, the Salesman gritted his teeth as he summoned yet another defensive item from his spatial storage.

In the form of a diamond, the Salesman clutched the defensive item and crushed it into dust, causing a semi-transparent crystalline white shell to appear around his body.

It was a consumable-type item.

The virtual sea wave assaulted the crystalline white shell and dragged him through the air. Then, not even a second later, he was slammed brutally into the ground, causing his mystical defence to flash white several times.

The crystalline shell continued to flash several more times before shattering, its duration ending.

It was one of those items that allowed the user to survive a powerful strike for a limited duration.

The Salesman groaned, but was given no time to reflect on what happened.

Immediately rolling to the side, the Salesman managed to narrowly dodge a curved water blade, which Lillian sent at him from above.

The man scowled deeply.

Afterwards, the two engaged in another battle, another clash - several times.

Lillian flew through the air, dodging large storage containers that were thrown at her by the shadows.

Simultaneously, she moved to avoid the Salesman’s fierce and unending attacks.

It was at this point that Lillian began to grow more concerned and even frustrated by the rat-like Salesman.

’Slippery bastard...’

He was slower than the Jungle Lord, yet still managed to lose her.

’I can only attribute the fact I had my other gear at the time.’

Currently, Lillian was running on reflexes and instincts. In a fight to the death, these two aspects were crucial, but right now, Lillian needed to learn how to fly quickly.

She hadn’t ever flown before, after all.

’I feel like I’m getting the hang of it...’

Because of Lillian’s strange quirk to learn things at an accelerated rate during life-or-death situations, Lillian had managed to get down the basics already, allowing her to manoeuvre much more easily compared to before.

’Now then, I just need to somehow grab onto him and finish him off instantl—’

"Lillian?"

The Rabbit’s attention was instantly pulled back to her physical body, causing her soul to freeze in the air, as though she was locked in time.

Lillian blinked awake.

’Had an hour passed already?’

Marionette, who was hovering her face right above Lillian’s, blinked curiously at the girl’s lack of response to her presence.

"Were you in a daze, Lillian? Are you perhaps still hungry? Do you possibly need something to drink? Or are you bored?" Marionette asked, inquiring with a multitude of questions.

Lillian smiled crookedly, watching as the Assassin sat in the chair beside her. Then, she smiled warmly, trying to hide the crookedness as she muttered in response:

"I-I’m fine... I was just daydreaming a bit and just got lost in it somehow..."

"Is that so?"

"Mhm."

As Lillian hummed that, she thought self-deprecatingly:

’I need to fix this issue...’

Afterwards, she prepared to send her other mind back to her soul, hoping that nothing had happened in the brief moment she was distracted.

But then...

Drip... Drip... Drip...

Marionette raised an eyebrow as she watched a large amount of sweat begin to pour out of Lillian’s face, dripping without any visible end.

This caused the Assassin to become incredibly concerned. And as she was about to ask what was wrong—

THUD!

—She watched as Lillian thrashed in the chair violently, even being able to knock herself over before crying out loud.

"AHHHHGH!"
