I'll Be the Male Leads Sister-in-Law

Chapter 515

Chapter 515

Madam Zhu shook her head without answering her daughter’s question. After a while, she whispered as if she was talking to herself, “It’s been 4 months and she had followed the troops north throughout the entire trip. I don’t even know if the journey was hard for her or if she is faring well as of now.”

And during the time where Madam Zhu was talking about Mu Mingtang, said girl was also seated on her chair as she listened to her servants relaying the news they heard.

“Your Highness, we heard that His Highness has now reached Youzhou. The people of Youzhou heard that he was coming, so everyone is spreading the news frantically. Nevertheless, there are still some who aren’t happy with His Highness’s abrupt decisions— especially His Majesty. In response, His Majesty had issued 12 imperial decrees, ordering His Highness Prince An’s return to the capital at this moment.”

Mu Mingtang heard this and frowned as she asked, “He’s being asked to return with such urgency? Then how is he now?”

The servant shook her head, “I don’t know. The news is just a mess and I’m only  getting word from the other servants by the gate as well.”

Before Xie Xuanchen left, he left his most elite and reliable men beside Mu Mingtang. Now, there were three layers of guards on the periphery of the Zhending Mansion. And because of that, her servants could not leave the premises at the moment, which was why they could only hear the news from what was said from the front gates.

Xie Xuanchen was now in Youzhou. Even the Emperor was not aware of the situation in Youzhou, let alone her.

Mu Mingtang’s face darkened and her hand could not help but be placed on her lower abdomen. One of the servants complained, “The royal court is also really a pain. So many people have always tried to reclaim Youzhou but there was never the right opportunity. And now, it was no easy task for His Highness to infiltrate and attack Youzhou. Who knows— this might be the time we can finally retake Youyun’s Sixteen Prefectures. Forget extending an offer to help His Highness, they’re now forcing him to return just like that?”

After she finished speaking, she was dragged by her companion. The complaining servant turned her head to see Mu Mingtang’s expression before she decided not to say anything more. Mu Mingtang’s heart was heavy with worry. Of course, she knew that Xie Xuanchen’s conquest of Youyun’s Sixteen Prefectures was not something he did on a whim. With how anxious His Majesty was in demanding his return, the former definitely thought of her husband as a threat.

It was because Mu Mingtang knew about all this that made her even more worried. Youyun’s geographical location was important and it was tantamount to accessing more features and benefits. Beirong had always attached great importance to this place. After all, Youyun had been occupied by Beirong for the past 30 years. Now that Xie Xuanchen was heading deep into enemy territory, there was an immensely high chance that they might be counterattacked by the Beriong army.

On the outside, there’s Beirong, but on the inside, it wasn’t all that safe either. After all, Senior General Xu and General Chang were people of the royal court. Should the Emperor label Xie Xuanchen as instigating a rebellion and relay the order for the Generals to apprehend him, wouldn’t he be attacked and targeted from both sides?

When Mu Mingtang’s expression was getting worse and the servant knew that she had said something wrong. She persuaded her Master, “Your Highness, I might have been the one who baselessly believed rumours. With how amazing His Highness is and how powerful his abilities are, nothing will go wrong.”
