Immortal Divine Tribulation

Chapter 148: Broken Path in the Ancient Tomb

Chapter 148: Broken Path in the Ancient Tomb

A shrill and tragic scream echoed throughout the stone chamber.

Everyone felt their scalp tingle, their hair standing on end—the ancient corpses were terrifying beyond reason. Even several cultivators at the peak of Cloud Heaven couldn’t resist them. They were torn apart on the spot, their bodies completely devoured—ripped to shreds and drained of blood. Their organs were all eaten.

“Jie…Jie!”

Two of the ancient corpses let out strange cries. Their messy, sparse hair fluttered in the air like dry grass. Their entire bodies were covered in red fur, shrouded in black mist. Their faces were ferocious, and their eyes glowed a blood-red hue.

“Vengeful spirits! Run!”

Everyone was frozen in fear, their faces full of panic.

“Where’s the exit? Where did the path go?!”

Finally, someone amidst the chaos tried to flee, only to discover that there was nothing behind them anymore. It was pure darkness. Even their spiritual sense was swallowed whole when sent out.

“Awooo…”

The two corpse fiends howled like demons from hell. Their eyes were bloodshot, their faces chilling, their bodies wrapped in terrifying black mist.

The heir of the Huangpu Clan glanced in their direction. His eyes glinted with cold light, but in the end, he did nothing. Instead, he turned and walked deeper into the ancient tomb.

Seeing this, many quickly followed. The ancient corpses were simply too fearsome. No one could stand against them. Not only were their bodies unnaturally strong, but even divine abilities seemed ineffective. Their sharp claws had already torn countless experts apart.

“Awooo…”

The corpse fiends howled long and loud, and an ominous wind howled with them. Their mouths grew long fangs, grotesque and terrifying, as they charged forward. Many people glanced back in terror, nearly vomiting from fright.

“D*mn it! Old ghost, your brother’s calling you!”

The Holy Son of the Demon Saint Palace cried out in frustration. He was already being beaten so badly he was losing patience. This ancient monster’s body was freakishly hard. Not only were weapons useless against it, even divine abilities merely made it sway before being absorbed like water into the sea.

“Jie…”

The corpse fiend actually grinned at the Demon Saint Palace’s Holy Son. Then its clawed hand suddenly extended several times in length, shrouded in demonic energy. As it slashed forward, five streaks of black claw energy tore through the air—getting hit by that would mean death or at least losing a layer of skin.

“Screw you! Laugh, laugh, laugh—laugh at your damn sister!”

The Holy Son of the Demon Saint Palace leaped back, cursing at the red-haired corpse fiend. He was seriously developing an allergy to that freak’s smile.

“It’s laughing at you…”

Tian Fan slapped the corpse fiend entangled with the Holy Son away and kindly reminded him.

The Holy Son of the Demon Saint Palace: “Fu*k you…”

That ancient corpse really was horrifying. Even the two of them together couldn’t suppress it. It was like it feared nothing. Normal attacks were completely ineffective.

“Why do I feel like this place is getting more spacious?”

The Holy Son of the Demon Saint Palace fought while frowning deeply, his face full of doubt.

“No kidding. Everyone’s left. Of course, it feels more spacious!” Tian Fan was speechless. It was obvious, yet the guy still frowned and extended his spiritual sense to probe the surroundings.

“What?! They’re all gone?! Damn it! We better leave too, or we won’t even see the shadow of a treasure!”

The Holy Son turned and saw that everyone had already left. He panicked. If he came in and left empty-handed, he wouldn’t be able to sleep for days.

“Move aside. I’ll handle it.”

Tian Fan said to the Holy Son, his golden eyes flashing brightly. His Heart Desire Without Trace technique quickly activated. His powerful spiritual force slammed directly into the corpse fiend—this was the strongest technique for attacking soul-based beings. He was confident that even such a powerful corpse fiend couldn’t withstand it.

“Gahhh!”

Sure enough, the red-haired corpse fiend let out a miserable shriek. Its blood-red eyes twisted, its face contorted with pain. It clutched its head with clawed hands, tearing at its scalp until dark fluid oozed out, releasing a foul stench.

“Let’s go!”

Tian Fan grabbed the still-stunned Holy Son of the Demon Saint Palace and activated Divine Cloud Steps, vanishing from the spot and leaping deeper into the ancient tomb.

“Awooo!”

Behind them, the red-haired corpse fiend let out a furious roar. It looked like a demonic blaze was burning on its body as it stared menacingly at the duo’s fleeing figures and chased after them, its heavy footsteps cracking the floor beneath.

The third level was vast, like a starry sky, making everyone feel as though they were floating in the cosmos. But strangely, aside from this boundless space, there was nothing else. The path of the ancient tomb ended here. Ahead lay a blurry fog and an impenetrable wall of energy blocking the way forward—everyone was trapped.

When Tian Fan and the Holy Son of the Demon Saint Palace arrived, the sky was ablaze with divine light and secret treasures. Everyone had gathered there, working together to fight the two corpse fiends. Not because they wanted to, but because they had no choice. This was the end of the tomb, and the corpse fiends were too terrifying. Even united, they couldn’t suppress them. More people had already died under those demonic claws—turned into “dry mothers” for the corpse fiends.

Tian Fan spotted Sun Yueying and her group standing quietly in a corner. A golden light enveloped them from above, keeping them safe.

“Buzz…”

The heir of the Huangpu Clan finally made his move. Everyone was trapped—if they didn’t take out the corpse fiends, they couldn’t proceed. He raised his right hand and lightly waved it. A red divine blade, over ten feet long, slashed through the air like it could tear the heavens apart. It fell with the power of annihilation.

“Pfft…”

The corpse fiend, despite its fearsome strength, was actually injured—black ichor splashed out as a wound opened on its body. The cut wasn’t deep, but it was enough to inspire fear. The heir of the Huangpu Clan truly lived up to his reputation as peerlessly powerful among his generation.

Everyone was shocked, but he only frowned. He knew how powerful that slash was—it may have looked simple, but it contained nearly 80% of his full strength. That strike could easily obliterate a peak Cloud Heaven cultivator, yet all it did here was leave a scratch.

“Awooo!”

Though the heir’s strike didn’t deal fatal damage, it enraged the corpse fiend. Its eyes blazed red, and it opened its maw wide, revealing long fangs dripping with slime.

On the other side, a young man in golden robes stepped forward. His calm smile and refined demeanor made him look like a scholar.

“The Divine Son of the Sword Immortal Sect!”

“He’s making his move?!”

At the sight of him, everyone showed awe. No matter where they were, anyone from the Sword Immortal Sect commanded reverence. Anyone who emerged from that sect was never weak—it wasn’t called the number one immortal sect for nothing.

“Pfft…”

Like the Huangpu heir, the Divine Son was immensely powerful. With a wave of his hand, countless swords of light shot toward the other corpse fiend. The divine force surged like a tide. Even though the ancient corpse could absorb spiritual energy, it didn’t matter—he was directly blasted into the dust, shedding a carpet of red fur.

Tian Fan watched from the shadows. For a moment, he had the illusion that the man’s sword technique looked a lot like the Shangguan clan’s Sword Twenty-Three.

After finishing, the Divine Son looked toward the Huangpu heir. Almost at the same time, the Huangpu heir looked back at him—one smiling gently, ethereal and scholarly; the other cold and stern, like a defiant battle demon.

“Awooo…”

Just then, a terrifying howl echoed from far behind.

The third corpse fiend had arrived.

Everyone turned in shock, their faces pale—the path behind the ancient corpse was also slowly disappearing, fading into eternal darkness…
