Chapter 173: Heading for the Immortal Island of No Return

“A river of blood” was not an empty threat from an ignorant youth. He meant what he said and did it, turning Windwood Ridge into a graveyard of corpses, the ground stained crimson with blood.

Tian Fan stood alone in the field like a demonic mountain, suffocating everyone with his presence. A single person, just one, had slaughtered dozens upon dozens from the Sword Immortal Sect. The ground was littered with broken limbs and mutilated bodies, scarlet blood flowing like small streams.

“Ugh… you beast! You sinner!” Though immobilized and unable to move, the middle-aged man could clearly see everything happening around him. He let out a hysterical roar, his eyes bloodshot.

“Now,” Tian Fan said, his voice cold, “can you understand a fraction of my pain?”

He stepped forward through the air, ascending as if climbing stairs. His white robes were pristine, unsullied by a single drop of blood, clean as a scholar’s, ethereal like an immortal’s. Yet, he sent a chill through the hearts of everyone on Windwood Ridge, all looking upon him with awe and terror.

“Who gave the order for the Sword Immortal Decree?” Tian Fan asked calmly, each word deliberate and sharp.

“I don’t know!” The middle-aged man glared at Tian Fan with fierce malice, a sinister fire flickering in his eyes.

Swish…

The Yin-Yang Sword appeared in Tian Fan’s hand. With a slanting strike, the man’s right arm severed from his body, sending a spray of blood across the sky.

“Who issued the Demon Extermination Decree?”

“I don’t know!” The man gritted his teeth, his eyes blood-red, wishing he could tear this youth apart. He, a supreme existence of the Immortal Ascension realm, one whose stomp would shake the Divine Martial Continent for ages, had been reduced to this state. It was unbearable.

Thud…

Tian Fan’s expression remained placid. He pointed forward with his left hand. His physical body was immensely powerful, far surpassing the Immortal Ascension realm. The middle-aged man’s right hand shattered instantly.

The onlookers in the distance felt a deep chill. Such methods were exceedingly cruel, hardly different from those of the demonic path.

“One last time,” Tian Fan’s voice was low, “who ordered you to kill me?”

He sensed something unusual at play, as if someone was deliberately targeting him from the shadows. The middle-aged man was already terrified by the young man’s methods, but he stubbornly refused to talk.

“Speak!!” The low command left Tian Fan’s lips. His eyes turned pitch black, the pupils vanishing, becoming like black holes ready to devour everything.

“Aaaaaahh…!”

A heart-rending scream echoed throughout Windwood Ridge. The man had already lost both arms, blood streaming down endlessly. Immobilized, he could only scream. Blood vessels bulged in his eyes, nearly bursting, and froth dripped from the corner of his mouth.

The distant observers felt their scalps go numb, their hair standing on end.

“Since you are useless, let your soul be buried here.” The icy words were uttered without emotion. Tian Fan pointed forward, piercing through the man’s glabella. Brain matter mixed with blood flowed out as the corpse plummeted to the ground. Tian Fan stood quietly in mid-air, his left hand pointing downward. A dark light shot from his palm, blasting the man’s body into dust, not even leaving bone fragments behind.

The crowd watched this scene in utter horror, chilled to the bone from the inside out.

A supreme existence of the Immortal Ascension realm had perished just like that, perishing on Windwood Ridge without even a corpse remaining.

They knew the Divine Martial Continent would be thrown into an uproar. This time, news of a Immortal Ascension expert’s fall would spread across all five domains. The name Tian Fan was destined to shock the world.

“Don’t kill me! I’ll tell you! I’ll tell you everything!” Staring into Tian Fan’s pitch-black pupils, the man called Mo Wu felt true fear. The higher one’s cultivation, the more one feared death—this was the innate nature of demonic cultivators.

“Speak!” Tian Fan’s tone was frosty.

“A year ago, a very strange person came to the Sword Immortal Sect. The sect master personally received him and treated him with great respect. The order concerning you was brought by him. The content was: if possible, recruit him. If not, eliminate him without fail!”

Upon hearing this, Tian Fan frowned.

A year ago, he had just been dragged into the Great Sealing Sect by that old swindler. No one should have known about him then. This shouldn’t be possible.

“Is that all? Nothing else?!”

“That’s all! This is the sect’s highest secret. As for the reason, only the sect master and that person know. Even some of the ancestral elders are unaware.” Mo Wu spoke carefully, afraid that any misstep might anger this demonic figure. Now that he was immobilized, he was completely at the other’s mercy.

“In that case, you can die.” The calm statement filled the gaunt man with rage.

“I told you everything!” he yelled, staring at Tian Fan. “Why won’t you let me go?!”

“I never said I wouldn’t kill you.” Tian Fan spoke numbly, raising his right hand. The Yin-Yang Sword swept down. A head, its face contorted with unwillingness, flew through the air. Two beams of demonic light shot from Tian Fan’s hands, shattering the skull and destroying the remnant body.

Thus, everyone from the Sword Immortal Sect who had come to Windwood Ridge was dead. Not a single one survived, all killed by Tian Fan’s hand. Blood dyed the entire mountain ridge red.

In the distance, people from the five great domains looked at the white-robed youth in the air, their hearts cold. He was truly a devil, daring to raise his blade against a figure from the Immortal Ascension realm, and one from the number one immortal sect at that.

Tian Fan stood alone in the sky. The autumn wind, bleak like his current mood, lifted the hair from his forehead and gently stirred his white robes. He stood there quietly, a faint loneliness in his eyes. Even after killing all these people, he felt no pleasure.

“Big brother…” A large dragon head leaned over and called out softly.

Tian Fan’s bloody rampage had frightened it. The little guy was worried.

“I’m sorry. To me, you and her are the most important people. I shouldn’t have let you see such a cruel side of me.” Tian Fan whispered, gently stroking its head, feeling somewhat guilty.

The little guy had just come into this world. He wanted it to remain like an innocent child, but he truly couldn’t control himself.

“It’s not big brother’s fault. They were all bad people!” The little dragon’s massive body began to shrink, its supreme dragon might instantly vanishing from heaven and earth. It perched on Tian Fan’s shoulder, clutching a lock of his hair.

The crowd in the distance felt as if granted amnesty, finally letting out a long breath, their bodies soaked in cold sweat.

“Heh, let’s go. Meet my friends.” Tian Fan smiled, patted it, and descended toward the ground.

“Kid, you killed well! That was satisfying!” Shangguan Jingyi was still his usual self, sharing the same temperament as Li Yunyang. He stepped forward and punched Tian Fan’s shoulder, then laughed heartily. Shangguan Yunfeng, more steady than his brother, smiled and nodded at Tian Fan. In the distance, the Holy Son of the Demon Saint Palace and others also approached.

“Little dragon!” Murong Qiu was not shy at all. Her beautiful eyes sparkling, she stepped forward, snatched the little dragon from Tian Fan’s shoulder, making the two men behind her break out in a cold sweat.

The person before them had just slain two Immortal Ascension experts! He was a bona fide super demon!

She reached into her robe and took out a red fruit emitting a faint, delicate fragrance.

Even Tian Fan was shocked, looking over in surprise.

“Miss, you mustn’t…” The two men knew exactly what she intended to do and grew anxious, stepping forward to stop her.

“Hmph, I said I can, so I can!” Murong Qiu petulantly wrinkled her nose and offered the fruit to the little dragon. The little guy’s eyes immediately lit up. It took the offered fruit, took a bite, and immediately began to hum happily “Mmm, mmm!”, its dragon eyes curving into little crescent moons.

“So adorable!” Seeing the little dragon’s expression, Murong Qiu’s eyes instantly turned into little stars. She revealed an enchanting smile, hugging the little creature and spinning around on the spot.

“Aiyo, I can’t take it, I can’t take it! I’m gonna die!” The Holy Son of the Demon Saint Palace yelled loudly, nosebleed even streaming out.

It had to be said, Murong Qiu truly had the grace of a heavenly immortal, so much so that even the Shangguan brothers stared dumbfounded.

“Pervert, die!” Murong Qiu was furious. Her slender leg shot out towards the Holy Son of the Demon Saint Palace. And thus, a perfect parabola was drawn across the sky.

Reunions between old friends always have endless words.

On Windwood Ridge, people from the five domains dispersed, returning to their respective forces. They needed to relay this shocking news upwards immediately.

The Shangguan family members took a serious look at Tian Fan before also returning to the central region.

The Shangguan brothers stayed behind, deciding to return the next day.

The night moon was beautiful, yet carried a touch of sorrow.

Not far from Windwood Ridge, on a small hill, the group lit a torch.

The Holy Son of the Demon Saint Palace had “borrowed” a few spirit beasts from a nearby minor sect. Now, the faint aroma of roasting meat wafted through the air, tantalizing the appetite.

Murong Qiu absolutely refused to leave. Clutching the violet-gold little dragon to her chest, she insisted on staying with the group of men, making her two companions constantly wipe cold sweat.

“Be good, little dragon. Big sister will feed you.” She tore off a piece of roasted meat and offered it to the little fellow, who swallowed it in one bite, chewing with relish.

“Big sister?!”

The group was stunned for a moment, all turning to look at her.

The two men behind her started wiping sweat again.

“What? Is there a problem?” Murong Qiu blinked her eyes innocently, her naivety truly left everyone speechless.

“How did you get out of the Dark Abyss?” Shangguan Jingyi was extremely curious.

Everyone else’s gazes also shifted over. This was absolutely earth-shattering secret. Even Immortal Ascension experts never returned, yet Tian Fan had come back alive. This in itself was enough to suggest something significant.

“If you call purgatory terrifying, it couldn’t be worse than this…” Tian Fan didn’t really want to talk about it, but the group insisted relentlessly. He sighed softly and finally decided to tell them. He briefly described the events within the Dark Abyss. They were all friends, comrades who had faced life and death together. There was no need to hide it from them.

When they finished hearing his account, they all showed expressions of utter astonishment. The Demon Realm truly existed? And it seemed all its inhabitants had perished there?

“Will you go see her?” As the first light of dawn sprinkled over the land, Shangguan Yunfeng asked lightly.

Tian Fan’s body trembled slightly.

“No,” he said softly. “After I gather all five spirit orbs, I will go find her.” Tian Fan stood up, a faint aura of sorrow surrounding him.

For a moment, everyone fell silent. Even the lively and active Murong Qiu stopped talking.

“What are your plans next? Where will you go?” Though their hearts also ached, the Shangguan brothers spoke up to change the subject and break the heavy silence.

“The Immortal Island of No Return…” Tian Fan said softly, gazing towards the farthest edge of the Northern Domain.
