Incurable Pain | Chapter 98.1

Cub Diary (3)

  1. Jealousy

The next morning, there was another emergency at the hospital.

When the phone rang, Yu Luoyin hadn’t slept much. His eyes, however, cleared up after a few exchanges. He hurriedly got up, washed and dressed in a rush, then grabbed a few slices of cold bread from the kitchen fridge to fill his stomach, the whole process was as smooth as flowing clouds and running water.

–Before leaving, he never forgot to run to the bedroom and kiss Bai Xunyin under the covers.

Annoying yet heartwarming.

Bai Xunyin watched his back, feeling both amused and exasperated.

But this commotion had woken her up, so she got up to prepare breakfast.

While toasting bread in the bread maker, Bai Xunyin glanced at Yu Luoyin, who had hurriedly eaten a few bites of bread. Her empty gaze seemed pensive.

Perhaps they really should hire a nanny, and she shouldn’t continue to insist on the unwritten rule of ‘not allowing strangers into their private domain’. People needed to adapt to changes in life.

On the way to take Yu Baiqi to school, Bai Xunyin called Ah Mo and asked her to see if there were any reliable and capable aunties available to recommend.

Ah Mo and Sheng Wen were also too busy, so they had hired a nanny early on, one with ‘experience’.

Ah Mo wasn’t surprised at all on the phone, she just chuckled knowingly and said, “I knew you wouldn’t hold out. It would be so much easier to have an auntie around – Anyway, let me gather some information this afternoon and send it to you.”

She hung up hurriedly after saying that.

Bai Xunyin was already accustomed to her impetuous nature, so she casually put away her phone.

Instead, it was Yu Baiqi who, having faintly heard Ah Mo’s voice, raised his head curiously and asked, “Mom, is that Auntie Ah Mo?”

“Yeah.”

Bai Xunyin smiled and rubbed his small, round nose.

“You’re really clever.”

Yu Baiqi, like a little adult, pondered for a moment and innocently asked, “Why doesn’t Sister Awu go to kindergarten?”

“Sister is still little.”

Every time she mentioned ‘sister’, Bai Xunyin couldn’t help but think of Yu Luoyin’s nonsense whispers in her ear last night, feeling somewhat embarrassed as she said softly, “She’ll go to kindergarten next year.”

So Yu Baiqi started counting on his small fingers.

Bai Xunyin watched him quietly, suddenly feeling that this little guy really meant what he said about wanting a sister.

It wasn’t just talk.

Bai Xunyin held Yu Baiqi’s hand and saw the teacher waiting at the classroom door from a distance.

Indeed, as Yu Luoyin had said, she was a young girl, dressed simply and neatly, with a fairly attractive appearance. However, she seemed slightly stunned when she saw them approaching.

“Hello.”

Wu Qingqing looked at Bai Xunyin, forcing a smile and murmuring, “Who are you?”

“I’m Yu Baiqi’s mother.”

Bai Xunyin smiled, slightly tilting her head, her voice warm and gentle.

“His father brought him here yesterday. How is he doing at school?”

She smoothly transitioned the conversation, leaving Wu Qingqing no choice but to follow along. Her voice was gentle, but her gaze couldn’t help but scrutinize the woman in front of her.

In fact, since seeing Yu Luoyin for the first time yesterday, Wu Qingqing had been curious about his wife, what kind of woman Yu Baiqi’s mother would be.

With such a good-looking and delicate child, so intelligent, coupled with Yu Luoyin’s overly outstanding appearance and demeanor… she must be someone outstanding and beautiful.

But even though she had mentally prepared herself, when she actually saw Bai Xunyin, Wu Qingqing still felt that she was more beautiful than she had imagined.

The woman in front of her wasn’t dressed in fancy attire; in fact, she seemed quite casual.

However, her every move and gesture was natural and effortless. When she smiled slightly and looked at you, you couldn’t help but be drawn in by those amber-like eyes.

In an instant, Wu Qingqing felt ashamed of the ‘heart flutter’ she had experienced yesterday because of Yu Luoyin.

How could she compare to his wife, such a girl?

Finally, it was time for class, and Wu Qingqing led Yu Baiqi into the classroom.

Even his back seemed somewhat disoriented.

Bai Xunyin looked at him and shook her head helplessly.

Actually, seeing this Wu Qingqing in person, Bai Xunyin realized that she was just in her early twenties. She probably came to work right after graduating from college, still young and immature, with a simple mind that was easy to discern.

Bai Xunyin could tell she didn’t have any bad intentions; she probably just innocently wanted to see Yu Luoyin – like a young girl who likes handsome boys.

And some little boys also like pretty women, regardless of whether they are married or have children.

This kind of attitude based on appearance was understandable, but it still didn’t prevent her from feeling ‘jealous’.

Through this incident, Bai Xunyin suddenly realized that in all the years she had been with Yu Luoyin, except for Sheng Churan’s one-sided pursuit during high school, there had never been any ‘scandals’ involving him.

So she had never felt jealous.

Now, with this sudden visit, it felt both unfamiliar and natural.

After all, given Yu Luoyin’s own conditions, it would be abnormal if there were no admirers around him.

Bai Xunyin, belatedly feeling jealous, remembered how she hadn’t minded when Yu Luoyin was displeased with the pursuers around her before…

It really shouldn’t be like this.

After inadvertently dealing with a ‘rival’, Bai Xunyin sent a message to Yu Luoyin –

“From now on, you’re not allowed to pick up Yu Baiqi anymore.”

There were too many young girls here, not that Bai Xunyin herself felt ‘threatened’, but she was afraid that the married and experienced Yu Luoyin would break more girls’ hearts like a fox.

After all, for some men, just standing there was already a sin of seduction because of their appearance.

In the afternoon, Yu Luoyin finally saw this message.

The reply was just a few question marks.

So Bai Xunyin earnestly explained her thoughts.

“Heh, baby, you’re worrying too late (smile)”

Yu Luoyin’s text messages seemed to carry a hint of a teasing smile:

“So many girls have had their hearts broken because of me over the years.”

[No way, who made me so devoted.]

Yu Luoyin shamelessly said:

[Just in our hospital, there are more than a dozen little nurses whose hearts are broken.]

Bai Xunyin expressionlessly turned off her phone.

She found that feeling sorry for Yu Luoyin was really unnecessary.
