Chapter 3995: Trembling! II
Chapter 3995: Trembling! II
When things did not go according to plans, when the carefully calculated variables suddenly shifted in ways that challenged every assumption about control and consequence, one could only reassess the new parameters, adapt to changing circumstances, and overcome whatever obstacles had emerged through application of wisdom rather than force!
The entry of the Living Paradoxes had been unexpected, their grand display of power even more so.
These were not the desperate interventions of allies seeking mutual benefit!
This was the calculated arrival of forces.
But even against this unprecedented development, Noah felt his consciousness shifting through familiar patterns of analysis and adaptation that had served him through countless trials across his impossible journey.
He looked at Diviticus through a lens that had grown cold with recognition and calculation, seeing her not as she appeared in this moment of triumph but as she would exist in futures that stretched toward horizons only he could perceive!
She was someone he had deemed would definitely perish under his hands when circumstances permitted such resolution...she was already dead, she simply remained ignorant of this fundamental truth about her ultimate destiny!
But the question that burned through his consciousness with increasing intensity was how she had become so devastatingly powerful in such a relatively brief span of time.
She had consumed half a drop of his blood during their encounter in the Paradoxical Folds, that infinitesimal portion of his essence that had granted her immunity to producing Inevitabilities.
Yet if half a drop could produce such magnificent results, if such a tiny fragment of his being could transform someone into a force capable of challenging Dukes, then why was his own accumulated power not measured in trillions of Complexity and Purity Quotients rather than the hundreds of millions he currently possessed?
The inconsistency gnawed at his understanding.
Noah then recalled what the Paradoxes had recently accomplished through their audacious assault on the Coalition’s most protected facility...the theft of a Corpse of an Early Creature that had been jealously guarded for eons.
Was this the source of her newfound capabilities? Had the combination of his blood and access to the preserved remains of one of his kind created synergistic effects that transcended what either component could achieve individually?
"..."
Noah felt instinctive certainty crystallizing around this theory.
If he had obtained that corpse himself, if those preserved remains had been processed through the mystical mechanisms of his Early Veiled Shore rather than whatever crude methods the Paradoxes had employed...
The possibilities that stretched from such speculation were intoxicating in their scope and magnitude.
But someone else had claimed that prize.
"Hmm..."
Through their own power and audacity, certainly, but his blood had been a critical factor in making such theft possible.
Without his essence flowing through Diviticus, without the immunity and enhancement that half a drop had provided, the Paradoxes would never have been able to penetrate defenses that had held firm for eons.
A feeling began to settle in the depths of his consciousness...the sensation of losing prized loot that he had never actually possessed, watching someone else play with treasures that should have been his by right!
It was like witnessing a rival embrace a lover who should have been his own, hugging that precious loot to sleep and performing unspeakable acts of intimacy while he could only observe from positions of enforced isolation.
After all, in existence, nothing was worse than stolen loot!
Diviticus had made herself the center of attention at this moment of existential significance, positioning herself as the architect of victory.
Her display of power against the skeletal Primordial Death that had required multiple Dukes working in coordination to merely withstand was nothing short of domination!
She raised her hand with precision, fingers moving in patterns that seemed to rewrite the fundamental nature of space around her position. Tendrils of obsidian authority erupted from her transformed form, flowing outward like liquid darkness.
Yet these were not the crude manifestations of Paradoxical Authority that Noah had observed from other Living Paradoxes. The tendrils carried within them something older, more refined.
Noah’s enhanced perception detected the subtle musings of Glyphs woven throughout that authority!
The tendrils she released moved with predatory intelligence, seeking to wrap around the massive form of the Skeletal Primordial Death with the inexorable certainty of entropy given purpose.
The creature fought back with silent fury, its accumulated power creating zones where the fundamental forces of existence simply ceased to function, yet its countless manifestations of ending found themselves systematically cornered by authority that operated according to principles it could not counter!
Gradually, inexorably, the Primordial Death became bound by forces that transcended its cursed nature, its movements growing more restricted with each passing moment as Diviticus demonstrated mastery!
It was at this moment of tactical supremacy that Diviticus chose to address the assembled forces.
Her voice carried across the battlefield with crystalline clarity, each word chosen with the precision of someone who understood exactly what effects her speech would produce among her diverse audience.
"Ladies and gentlemen," she began, "we find ourselves witnessing something that has not occurred since the Earliest Folds...the emergence of Dead Existences in numbers and power sufficient to challenge all Living Existences. "
WAA!
She gestured toward the bound Primordial Death.
"What we have seen here today is not an isolated incident, not some random breach in the barriers that separate Life from Death. This is the beginning of something far more significant...a systematic invasion that will spread across every domain where consciousness dares to exist."
Her voice took on notes of grim certainty as she continued her analysis.
"Dead Existences of this magnitude will appear in many other locations, and with far greater frequency than we have witnessed today. The barriers that THE Creature established to keep our domains separate are failing, and when they collapse entirely, only Living Paradoxes will possess the fundamental advantages necessary to face such enemies effectively."
During her monologue, the Symphony emanating from Moiraine’s position continued to resonate across the battlefield, its effects now extending to encompass the newly arrived Paradoxes. Above their heads appeared the same golden markers that blessed other Living Existences...two crossed swords that blazed with authority beyond normal limitation.
The newly arrived Living Paradoxes and Dukes responded to this enhancement by unleashing terrifying seas of Paradoxical Authority upon the remaining Honored Dead Existences, their coordinated assault clearing the cursed creatures like cattle being systematically processed through mechanisms designed for efficient elimination.
"Just as in the Earliest Folds," Diviticus continued, her voice rising with the passion of someone delivering truth that others preferred to ignore, "the true enemies of Living Existences are not each other, but the forces of ending that seek to consume everything we have built through eons of careful cultivation and advancement."
She paused, allowing this fundamental realization to settle among her audience before delivering her ultimate objective.
"It is time for Living Paradoxes to reclaim our rightful seat at the table. We offer our capabilities gladly in the fight against Dead Existences, seeking partnership in facing threats that transcend every previous category of danger."
HUUM!
As Diviticus finished her carefully crafted monologue, she also completed the process of binding the skeletal Primordial Death entirely, her authority wrapping around the creature until it could no longer move or resist the forces that held it in perfect stasis.
The demonstration was complete...she had single-handedly accomplished what multiple Dukes working in coordination had struggled to achieve, while simultaneously positioning herself as the voice of reasonable cooperation in facing existential threats!
