Chapter 4769: Existence Is Too Vast! I
Chapter 4769: Existence Is Too Vast! I
Across Observable Existence.
In a region filled with multicolored flames, the visage of Anaximander was sitting in an incandescent sea of a massive Embodiment.
The sheer magnitude and concentration of Existence itself was unfathomable!
Waves of multicolored radiance lapped against his ancient form like tides of pure being. The authority of Existence pressed down from all directions, not oppressively, but with the overwhelming presence of something that simply WAS in ways that defied comprehension.
And then came a terrifying contrast.
Anaximander was not sitting alone.
His back was actually facing the back of another entity also seated down.
But the size difference alone was nearly a million times!
Anaximander appeared as nothing more than a speck against the vastness of the figure behind him. A single grain of sand resting against a mountain that stretched beyond the horizon in all directions.
It was not because the other side wanted to show off how much grander they were.
No.
The Weavings of Existence simply at this moment in time did not make it easy for this entity to take their size down to a level that many beings could comprehend. The very Depth and Immensity of their existence would seemingly not allow it.
When one’s being was so fundamentally tied to the concept of Existence itself, reducing oneself became an act of self-contradiction that even THE Creature found difficult to maintain for extended periods.
This massive entity was swirling with incandescent flames all around!
Multicolored fire that contained every hue that could be perceived and many that could not! Flames that did not burn but simply EXISTED with such intensity that observation itself became a challenge!
A unique process was currently taking place between him and Anaximander.
Something that required proximity.
Something that required the ancient wanderer to sit back-to-back with one of THE Four.
At this time, Anaximander raised his head and looked around.
He sensed imperceptible changes in the fabric of reality surrounding them. Subtle shifts in how The First Tongue resonated within this domain. Alterations that most beings would never notice but that his scientific mind immediately began cataloging and analyzing.
And he also felt something from the entity behind him.
Even though THE Creature was so massive that his entire body was shrouded by multicolored flames that would make his entire figure hazy and barely observable... Anaximander could barely perceive a smile on this being.
On THE Creature!
One of THE Four was smiling!
This was notable enough to make Anaximander’s heart beat slightly faster.
So Anaximander looked around as his own scientific mind began to break down exactly what had changed in the Weavings of Existence.
"Your mood seems to be a little happier."
His voice came casual and measured, as if he was talking to any being rather than one of the most powerful entities in all of reality.
"What just happened?"
He asked such a question as if inquiring about the weather.
And behind him, the entity shrouded in such terrifying flames of dense Weavings of Existence was quiet for a moment.
The silence stretched.
The multicolored flames crackled with energy that predated most of the Observable Existence.
Then his deep voice echoed out.
It was like listening to the surrounding existence itself speak. Not loud, but resonant in ways that made every particle of Anaximander’s being vibrate.
"It seems that your friend has gotten a bit more serious."
The words were calm and heavy.
"And is tweaking that which he has laid a claim on."
...!
The words were simple in construction but vast in implication!
When Anaximander heard them, his eyes flashed brilliantly!
He seemed to think about all of it heavily. There were many things to be broken down from the simple words of THE Creature. Layers of meaning that unfolded the more one contemplated them.
Your friend.
THE Creature referred to him as Anaximander’s friend.
Has gotten a bit more serious.
This implied that previous actions had been considered less than fully committed. That what came before was merely preliminary.
Tweaking that which he has laid a claim on.
The First Tongue.
Anaximander knew exactly who the entity in question was.
The swirling maelstrom of Existence in the form of this humanoid made a simple motion a moment later.
Just a casual gesture.
But the force alone could crush THE Fundamental Depth entities into paste! The mere movement of THE Creature’s fingers displaced enough authority to collapse lesser beings simply through proximity!
He pinched his fingers.
Moments later, multiple Phonemes of The First Tongue began to gather around him.
The 18 Phonemes everyone was so used to blazed into existence first! Fire and Water and Earth and Air and all the others, arranged in configurations that spoke of absolute mastery!
And additionally...
9 more!
Infinity! Quintessence! Tyranny! Fortune! Advantage! Narrative! Harvest! Hunger! Potential!
They gloriously arranged themselves before THE Creature, new letters joining old in a display that no other being in Existence could casually summon!
Moments later, this entity began to wave his fingers.
Old Phonemes and new Phonemes began to mix!
Hundreds of Logos being formed and broken down rapidly! The process was mesmerizing to observe, combinations that would take most scholars years to construct appearing and dissolving in fractions of seconds!
Then dozens of Philologies began to be formed and broken down at speeds that would even make Absolutes be astonished!
But THE Creature simply seemed to be familiarizing himself with old and new!
Testing how they integrated!
Seeing how the additions changed the possibilities of what could be expressed!
It was like watching a master linguist encountering new letters for the first time, except this linguist had existed since before language itself was differentiated from raw Existence.
Anaximander observed this scene with perceptive eyes.
There were many things he wanted to ask.
About Noah. About the changes. About what this meant for the ongoing conflict with THE Living Paradox. About countless mysteries that accumulated whenever one spent time in the presence of THE Creature.
But ultimately, he asked something simpler.
Something that had been weighing on his mind.
"Can he also not be considered your friend?"
...!
Anaximander asked such a simple question.
And truly, it should be simple.
Noah had helped THE Creature’s cause in numerous ways. His Civilization opposed THE Living Paradox. His actions aligned with what Existence represented.
By any reasonable measure, they should be allies.
Friends, even.
And yet...
The moving fingers of THE Creature paused momentarily.
The Phonemes and Logos and Philologies he had been constructing froze in mid-formation.
As if he was deeply pondering this question.
The seconds passed.
The multicolored flames continued their eternal dance.
The Embodiment surrounding them thrummed with energy that exceeded comprehension.
And still, Anaximander did not receive an answer!
The silence grew heavier.
More suffocating!
Eventually, in that heavy, suffocating silence, THE Creature replied.
"Maybe."
His voice came slower than before.
"Maybe not."
A pause that seemed to contain eternities.
"Existence is vast, Anaximander. Far, far too vast."
The multicolored flames around him flickered.
"And there are many things that even I do not know."
...!
BOOM!
The words landed with weight that made reality itself groan!
THE Creature, one of THE Four, the one who had laid the claim on Existence itself...
Admitting that there were things he did not know!
Admitting that even his perception had blind spots!
Anaximander sat in contemplative silence!
