Infinite Mana In The Apocalypse

Chapter 5102: Experimentation III

Chapter 5102: Experimentation III

In many areas, they seemed actively deficient, pathways that should have blazed with power instead flickering weakly or barely registering at all. The architecture was present, the potential was there, but something fundamental prevented that potential from being realized.

I have completed preliminary analysis of the subject’s Existential Engineering.

Ruination’s voice emerged.

What you perceive before you is the Lattice of Foundational Constraint. This is the basal, most basic perceivable engineering to you currently that defines Bounded Lifeforms, the architecture that was thr blueprint woven into their existence. The network you observe represents the channels through which power should flow and the nodes where that power should accumulate.

In Bounded existence, these channels are narrow. The nodes are dimmed. The potential for expansion exists within the architecture, but limitations prevent that expansion from occurring regardless of how much power the subject attempts to cultivate. This...is not deficiency in the conventional sense. This is engineering. Deliberate, precise engineering that establishes ceilings the Bounded cannot surpass through normal means. It is the base template of Existences that will ever be born in Observable Existence.

HUUM!

The subject Barbatos displays this Lattice of Foundational Constraint in typical Bounded configuration. Her Civilization and your infinity has optimized what can be optimized within these limitations, but she cannot exceed what she was engineered to be. The channels will not widen. The nodes will not brighten. The ceilings will not lift regardless of her efforts or desires.

However.

Through Existential Engineering, it is theoretically possible to alter this seemingly preset and unchangeable construct. The limitations are just that, which means they can be removed or modified by one possessing sufficient capability and power. If you were to flood her Lattice with Observable Force and Quintessence Infiniforce and overwhelm the constraints, you could potentially reshape her engineering toward something approaching Hadean classification.

I should note that this would not immediately transform her into a full Hadean Lifeform. Her bones and organs would remain in their current state until she undergoes the transformation process that you experienced. But her engineering would be altered to permit such transformation, to allow her existence to grow toward classifications that Bounded existence normally cannot achieve.

If successful, she would be designated as a Nascent Hadean. A Hadean Lifeform that has not yet grown to full maturity but possesses the potential to do so. The engineering of a Hadean without the completed physical transformation. A seedling rather than a tree.

...!

Noah absorbed this information with eyes that blazed brighter by the moment.

A Nascent Hadean.

The possibility of granting others the potential he had achieved through cycles of destruction and rebirth that most couldn’t survive. If he could reshape Bounded engineering through Existential Engineering, if he could remove the limitations that prevented his companions from advancing beyond their designated ceilings...

His hands began to vibrate with immensity.

One hand shone gold with endless Observable Force. The other shone multicolored with endless Quintessence Infiniforce, the energy of his transformation gathering with density that pressed against everything nearby.

He looked down at Barbatos.

"This may be intense," he said simply.

Her dark eyes met his with trust that didn’t waver.

"Go on, Little Fish. Do what you need to do."

Noah pressed both hands against her heart.

He began to flood both forces into her existence, Observable Force and Quintessence Infiniforce pouring through her Lattice of Foundational Constraint in torrents that exceeded anything she had ever experienced. The power pressed against their walls. It pushed against the narrowing. It demanded expansion that the engineering had been designed to prevent!

Barbatos opened her eyes wide.

Her hand shot out to grasp onto his robe. Her chest heaved as her breathing became ragged, back arching off the platform as sensations cascaded through her existence in waves she couldn’t control!

"Ah..!"

BOOM!

Immense concentrations flooded into her engineering.

The Lattice of Foundational Constraint resisted at first, limitations pushing back against the power attempting to reshape them. But Noah didn’t relent. He poured more Observable Force into the gold hand, more Quintessence Infiniforce into the multicolored hand, overwhelming the resistance through sheer magnitude of what he provided.

Engineering modification in progress. The Lattice of Foundational Constraint is experiencing forced expansion. Primary channels widening by factor of twelve. Secondary channels widening by factor of eight. Tertiary networks restructuring to accommodate increased flow capacity.

Nodes of concentrated energy are brightening. Junction points that previously flickered weakly are now blazing with intensity approaching what I observe in your own engineering. The artificial dimming is being overwritten.

Subject is experiencing significant sensation as her existence restructures around new parameters. The engineering that defined her for her entire existence is being rewritten in real time. Such alteration cannot occur without the subject being aware of what is happening to them.

Modification continuing. Seventy-three percent complete.

Barbatos trembled beneath his hands.

Golden light began emanating from her skin, Observable Force flooding through channels that could suddenly accommodate its presence. Her dark hair started shifting, strands that had been purely black now showing rivers of gold running through them like veins of precious metal through stone. Her breathing came in gasps that released mist tinged with golden luminescence.

Eighty-nine percent complete.

Ninety-four percent complete.

Modification complete.

Noah slowly withdrew his hands.

The figure of Barbatos lay on the floating platform looking unfathomably beautiful! Her dark hair spread across the soft surface in waves now threaded with rivers of gold Observable Force, the coloring permanent rather than temporary. Her skin held luminescence that hadn’t been there before, subtle but undeniable illumination pressing outward from within.

And on her forehead, a barely discernible golden crack could be seen.

It looked like a line of fracture in porcelain, except instead of damage it suggested emergence. Something breaking through from beneath. Something that had been constrained finally finding expression in physical form!

Her gaze was dazed and heavy as she breathed out golden mist with each exhale.

She rose slowly to sit on the soft floating platform. Around her body, rivers of golden Observable Force surged in currents that responded to her presence, power that her existence could suddenly channel in ways that had been impossible moments before.

"Little Fish..."

Her voice emerged breathless.

"What did you just do?"

...!

Coomplete success has been observed in the modification of subject Barbatos’s Existential Engineering.

Her previous designation as a Bounded Lifeform is no longer accurate. The Lattice of Foundational Constraint has been replaced with what I shall term the Lattice of Nascent Emergence. Her channels have been widened to accommodate power flow at rates previously impossible for her classification. Her nodes have been brightened to store energy in concentrations that would have destroyed her former engineering. The artificial limitations that defined her existence have been removed.

She is now designated as a Nascent Hadean.

In practical terms, this means she is capable of beginning the refinement of her bones and organs toward full Hadean classification. The transformation you underwent through cycles of destruction and rebirth, she can now pursue. The ceiling that would have prevented such advancement no longer exists.

I should note several significant implications of this change.

First, a Nascent Hadean exists in territories that blur the line between THE First Scale and THE Second Scale. She has not established a Civilizational Anchor, but she now possesses potential that exceeds what establishing such an Anchor would normally provide. The Hadean Organs and Bones she can eventually form will be grander than the Proterozoic Organs and Bones that others form upon reaching THE Second Scale. She will, in essence, be able to achieve Hadean classification at THE First Scale, then carry that enhanced foundation into THE Second Scale if she chooses to establish her Anchor.

Second, the golden crack visible on her forehead represents the physical manifestation of her altered engineering. This marking will evolve as she progresses toward full Hadean transformation, eventually becoming something more elaborate as her existence fully integrates the changes you have implemented.

Third, her connection to you has deepened significantly through this process. The Observable Force and Quintessence Infiniforce you used to reshape her engineering now exists within her foundations as permanent presence. She is, in a very real sense, partially composed of your power now.

This was a successful first application of Existential Engineering. The methodology you employed intuitively appears to have been correct. Future applications may require adjustment based on subject variation, but the fundamental approach has proven viable.

Noah read over all of this as Barbatos continued breathing heavily beside him, her existence acclimating to parameters that had just been completely rewritten.

He brought his vibrant right hand forward.

His palm cradled her head, fingers supporting the back of her skull while his hand covered all of her cheek. The touch was gentle despite the power still radiating from his transformed flesh. She looked at him with dark gold eyes that hadn’t been gold before, that shone with brilliance reflecting the Observable Force now flowing through her existence.

She cuddled against his hand to feel his warmth.

"What... have you done, Little Fish?"

She asked again as even her own existence couldn’t believe itself!

<Personal Reflections from THE Grimoire of Hadean Lexicon, Author: Noah Osmont, written during the span known as THE Reckoning of Imposed Order>

"I have often reflected upon the nature of pivotal moments, and I have come to understand that they rarely announce themselves with the fanfare one might expect. The grand turning points of existence, the instants where the trajectory of reality itself shifts toward weavings that will define eons yet to come, these moments tend to arrive quietly, dressed in the mundane clothing of ordinary action, revealing their true significance only when observed through the lens of considerable retrospection.

When I performed my first Nascent Hadean transformation upon Barbatos in the Early Veiled Shore, I believed I was conducting an experiment. A test of newly acquired capabilities. An exploration of what Existential Engineering might allow me to accomplish for those I cared about. I did not understand, could not have understood at that time, that I was striking the first blow against an architecture of existence that had governed Causes and Observable Existences since before many of us learned to perceive ourselves as existing.

I actually threw the first punch without realizing it.

That moment marked one of the last periods of relative peace I would experience.

I do have to confess, with the clarity that distance and time provides, that my ignorance was profound. I knew, of course, that the distinctions between Bounded and Gilded were permanent by design. But knowing that something is designed and understanding why it was designed, understanding who benefits from that design and what they will do to preserve it, these are different forms of knowledge entirely.

But even if I had known, I would have still done the same. Because who decided things had to be this way? What gave them the right? What ordained them to have any capability at all?

The engineering that constrains Bounded existence was not so much as artificially implemented...as much as it was simply nature. Just how existence was. There wasn’t something singular that could be said to be responsible. Existence simply was. Existence was...unfair. But it was structure an there were those who enjoyed such structure.

Those who sit atop structures of existentially imposed hierarchy rarely perceive their position as imposed. To them, the structure is natural and inevitable. The way things have always been and therefore the way things must always be.

The Bounded are Bounded because that is what they are. The Gilded are Gilded because that is what they are. And the Primeval, those ancient arbiters whose hands observed and directed Causes and studied and sought to manipulate the very engineering I was beginning to unravel, they exist beyond both because existence itself demands that someone must.

There was no good or evil. There was and is always what one believes.

When one alters the status quo, when one demonstrates that the limitations could be altered from below, when one proves that ceilings can be shattered and floors can be raised and the entire edifice of carefully maintained separation can be restructured through sufficient will and power, those who have benefited from that status quo tend to fight back.

They fight back because their position, their identity, their very understanding of their own significance depends upon the continued existence of those beneath them. A Gilded Lifeform is only Gilded in relation to the Bounded they surpass. Remove that relation, blur that distinction, demonstrate that the Bounded can become something that rivals or exceeds what the Gilded were engineered to be, and you do not merely threaten their power as you... threaten their meaning.

And to them, meaning is everything. For this, I pity Ubergulden Adelheid. I pity Ubergulden Markhus.

I did not know this when I placed my hands upon Barbatos and reshaped her engineering. I did not know that the peace I enjoyed in that moment, the relative calm of experimentation and discovery and the quiet joy of elevating someone I loved, would be one of the last moments of such peace I would experience before storms arrived that made Grimvault and his companions seem like gentle rain.

At that time, I truly did not know.

But I learned. Oh, how thoroughly I learned. And from all of it...endless seas of Observable and Unobservable Blood shall bloom. Existence will shudder, for it deserves to. All of Existence...deserves what is coming."
