Chapter 5719: Foundation! III
Chapter 5719: Foundation! III
The projection of the golden silhouette expanded between them, its radiant lines illuminating the grey coral walls of the cavern as the dark, blighted water of THE Tide continued to churn beyond the reef.
Atlas gestured with a translucent hand, pointing directly to the dense lattice of golden script wrapped around the spine, heart, and meridians of the glowing figure.
|This is my crowning achievement,| Atlas said, |THE Existential Foundational Narrative Inscription. When I walked among Those Who Remain, this was the architecture that kept my foundation ahead of their sight. It does not merely give you armor or a bigger fist. It fundamentally alters the rate at which your existence processes authority. It scales your progression, it multiplies the density of your foundation, and it forces every grain of power you swallow to seat itself cleanly into your core.|
Noah leaned forward, his pupils reflecting the intricate geometries of the diagram.
The script was unlike anything he had observed before. It did not simply follow the natural pathways of blood and mana; it cut across the conceptual layers of the anatomy, establishing an entirely new framework that turned living flesh into a sovereign furnace.
|Look closely, Dreamer,| Atlas continued, his voice echoing through the hollow stone. |The execution is the same discipline as forging a relic, except you are using your own body as the anvil. You take a living Gu to act as the conceptual spark. You draw Distilled Cause Essence to serve as the binding mortar. You introduce the eight stabilizing elements in strict succession to construct the elemental cage. And then, you drive the weld using your own Provenance.|
The old engineer traced a complex series of symbols running down the forearm of the projection.
|The difference lies in the chisel. To carve an inscription into your own existence, you cannot think the words into place. You must write them using the Languages of Existence. I used a combination of all the great Tongues. THE Primordial Tongue to give the sentence origin, THE Infinite Tongue to stretch its reach, THE First Tongue to grant it basic authority, and THE Argent Tongue to lock the syntax. You weave them together, writing your chosen narrative directly into the bedrock of your bones, until that part of your body becomes a living, self-sustaining relic.|
Noah studied the lines, his mind spinning through infinite calculations in a stretched instant.
Atlas had used the four ancient Tongues, borrowing the established dialects of existence to translate his intent into reality. But Noah was a human who had cast out borrowed authorities under the stone. He did not need to borrow the speech of the continuum!
He held THE Osmontian Tongue.
His five letters: I AM, OSMONT, QUINTESSENTIAL, HUMAN, PROTAGONIST. Alongside his words: THE MORTAL COIL, THE UNBOUND LINEAGE.
If he were to engineer his own existence, he would not write with the dead dialects of departed epochs. He would use his own sovereign tongue, fusing the letters of his identity to his Teloi, forging an inscription that belonged to him alone.
"I understand the architecture," Noah said quietly.
|Understanding the blueprint and driving the nail are two very different matters,| Atlas remarked, squinting at him. |You have never inscribed a single letter into your own flesh. It requires absolute synchronization between the living insect and your sovereign intent. If the frequency shears by a fraction of a fraction, the lattice will collapse.|
Noah did not argue. He reached into his internal realm, where four Common Dream Gu drifted around the river of light, and drew one out into the cavern.
The insect rested upon his left palm. It was whole and translucent, its multifaceted eyes calm as it radiated a quiet, peaceful reverie.
With his right hand open, Noah called upon his reserves. He had busy as ever since Distilled Cause Essence became a critical resource, multiple blank Observable Existences were pruned by his body and THE Infiniverse to have even more!
Nine droplets of Distilled Cause Essence condensed from his internal void, hovering above his skin in a warm, golden cluster. Beside them, the eight foundational elements manifested in precise order, primordial atoms of hydrogen, helium, lithium, beryllium, boron, europium, strontium, and neodymium spinning in microscopic orbits.
Noah focused his gaze upon his left forearm.
He would try to inscribe the foundational narrative across the bone and meridians of his arm, turning the limb into the first anchor of his evolving existence!
He closed his eyes.
THE PRECEPT OF THE WAKING DREAM stirred, wrapping the Common Dream Gu in an infinite dream of unyielding growth. Blue-gold Provenance Essence surged from his core, meeting the Distilled Cause Essence as the eight elements collapsed inward, locking around the insect to forge the living core of the inscription.
Then, Noah began to write.
He did not call upon the Primordial or Argent Tongues. He reached into his soul and spoke with THE Osmontian Tongue.
The letter I AM ignited within his meridians, burning with stellar crimson and gold.
Following it, the letter PROTAGONIST rose, carrying the unyielding weight of an existence that refused to be scenery in another being’s sky.
Noah guided the letters down through his meridians, pressing the living narrative toward the bone of his forearm as he envisioned thst grand Inscription Atlas was showing before him!
The Common Dream Gu was drawn into the flesh, its dream expanding to bridge the gap between the words and the bone, acting as the living ink that would seat the inscription permanently into his anatomy.
The initial alignment held. The bone of his forearm began to glow with blinding blue-gold brilliance, the skin turning translucent as the first lines of the inscription took root.
Yet, as the second letter sought to anchor itself, an immediate dissonance tore through the limb.
The Osmontian Tongue was too heavy.
The letter PROTAGONIST did not merely ask for space; it demanded absolute narrative dominance over everything it touched. The Common Dream Gu, an insect built merely to drift in soft silk and dream of simple warmth, could not bear the terrifying weight of that demand.
The insect’s internal reverie fractured.
HUUUM!
Noah felt the tension immediately! The bridge between the sovereign letter and the living insect buckled, the eight elemental orbits spinning out of control as the Distilled Cause Essence boiled under the uneven pressure.
Noah tried to force the alignment with his Telos of Tyranny, commanding the lattice to hold.
It was too late!
The Common Dream Gu let out a soundless conceptual shriek. Its translucent body turned pitch-black, drying and shriveling into brittle ash within a microsecond as its small existence was crushed beneath the narrative weight!
The living heart of the inscription died.
BOOM!
A violent narrative backlash detonated inside Noah’s arm.
The unstable lattice ruptured, tearing through his meridians and blowing outward in a blinding flash of golden flame and shattered elements. Flesh tore open to the bone. Stellar crimson-gold blood sprayed across the starlight slab and splattered against the petrified coral floor as the shockwave rattled the cavern ceiling, raining calcified dust upon his shoulders.
Noah’s breathing was heavy and ragged as the conceptual explosion settled. He lowered his ruined arm, watching his Infinite Sanguine Mana already surging through the torn pathways, slowly knitting the scorched muscle and fractured bone back together.
At the center of the wound lay a tiny pile of grey dust, the lifeless remnants of the Common Dream Gu.
The cavern fell into stillness.
Atlas stood within his projection, his arms crossed over his chest, looking down at Noah’s bleeding arm with calm, unblinking eyes.
|Hmm.|
The small, unkind sound broke the quiet.
|Look at that,| Atlas said, his tone dry and surprisingly relaxed. |It turns out you are actually normal. For a moment there, after watching you survive an architect’s sentence and weld an Elsedimension Ring on your first try, I was starting to wonder if you were some sort of impossible monster who could rewrite reality without breaking a sweat. It is almost comforting to see you blow your own arm off.|
Noah exhaled slowly, raising his eyes to meet the projection.
"The insect could not bear the weight of the tongue," Noah stated, his voice level despite the throbbing ache in his limb. "The translation failed at the foundation. I may need to find stronger Gu."
|Of course it failed,| Atlas said, shaking his head. |You tried to carve an imperial decree onto an eggshell and acted surprised when the yolk burst. But do not look so sour, Dreamer. Failure is good.|
The old engineer drifted forward, leaning against an illusory cane as his gaze pierced through the stone ceiling toward the ancient depths of the Chrysalis.
|Long before the First Sundering, in an epoch that existence itself has largely scrubbed from its memory, there lived an Immense One who held absolute contempt for blemishes. He believed that true supremacy was an unbroken line of perfection, a slate upon which no mistake was ever permitted to be written.|
Atlas spoke with the cadence of someone reciting an ancient legend!
|This architect forged a Descendant. He did not build the child from common clay or common blood; he carved him from pristine celestial jade, blessed his heart with seven Provenance Causes, and declared him the absolute pinnacle of his lineage. To ensure the child remained flawless, the architect cleared every stone from his path. If an obstacle appeared, the father shattered it. If an enemy rose, the father extinguished them. The Descendant was never allowed to stumble, never allowed to bleed, and never allowed to fail, because to fail was an unforgivable defect in the design.|
Noah listened quietly, the golden blood on his arm hissing as the flesh sealed shut.
|For an Age, this Descendant walked across the Folds, and everyone bowed before him. He won every duel in a single breath. He claimed every treasure without contest. He looked upon the expanse and genuinely believed that the continuum had been engineered solely to serve his glory. He had never made an error, so he possessed absolute confidence in his own invulnerability.|
Atlas paused, his eyes narrowing.
|Then came the day he met THE Unyielding Gate. It was not an enemy, and it was not a weapon. It was simply a primordial barrier, an ancient seam of existence that refused to open to raw force. The Descendant drew his sword and struck it, certain the stone would part as everything else had parted before him. The gate did not move. He struck it again, calling upon his seven Provenance Causes. The gate held its silence.|
The projection turned slightly, looking directly at Noah.
|For the first time in his existence, the child stood before a wall that did not fall. He had never fallen, so he had never learned how to brace his feet. He had never bled, so he did not know how to endure the tear of his own flesh. He had never failed, so his mind possessed no framework for what to do when reality said no. In his panic, he threw his entire existence against the stone, burning his existence, screaming at the gate to recognize his perfection.|
Atlas gave a short, sorrowful grunt.
|The gate did not care about his perfection. The backlash crashed down upon him. Because his foundation had never been tempered by a mistake, because his bones had never learned how to bend beneath an error and spring back, he shattered completely. Like brittle glass meeting an anvil, the grandest Descendant of that era snapped into fragments, weeping upon the stone as his seven Causes dissolved into meaningless dust.|
Atlas lowered his gaze back to Noah’s newly healed arm.
|The father arrived too late, standing over the pieces of his masterpiece, and he finally understood the fatal flaw of his creation. An existence that has never known failure is not strong; it is merely untested glass waiting for the right impact. It has no resilience, no depth, and no ability to survive the friction of a hostile reality.|
The old man straightened his posture, his expression firm and unyielding.
|Failure is not an ending, O Chance of Chances. Failure is the continuum showing you the exact joint where your arrogance exceeded your architecture. It tells you where the mortar was thin and where the stone was weak. A failure only means you are halfway there.|
Atlas pointed down at the starlight slab.
|You found the wrong way to carve the bone. Now clean the dust off your arm, find the viable insect, adjust your weight, and try again.|
