Infinite Mana In The Apocalypse

Chapter 5885: THE King II

Chapter 5885: THE King II

Noah’s Dream pulsed as he looked up at the baleful aurora, and he knew that things were not over.

A moment later, the aurora began to move. Its haze pulled together from every corner of the sky and gathered over the Legacy into a single point of dark light, and the point split into a long, radiant rift of obsidian that hummed with a note so deep that every Dimension below shivered!

Something was coming through!

A tusk came first, white as milk and longer than a river, then three more. A head followed, then a body, and it was an elephant, so vast that the rift stretched around it like a mouth around a pearl. Its hide looked carved from white obsidian, pale and glossy at once, with dark veins glittering under the surface. Two huge wings unfolded from its back, black and shining, and when they beat, clouds rolled out across the sky. It floated on a bed of soft cloud, and rain fell from its trunk in thin silver threads.

On its back stood a pavilion with slender pale pillars, a curved roof, and dark silk curtains tied back, and three figures sat inside it!

THE Airavata of the Churned Heavens.

Ancient Immensity: Immensity of Bearing.

It carries whatever it is told to carry, and nothing it carries can be made to fall.

Its four tusks each call a different kind of rain. Its wings make clouds of their own filled with Immensity

Noah barely read it, because something behind the elephant had made his Dream flinch.

Your Dream senses an Immensity past Ancient.

Past Ancient!

He looked at the pavilion, and the three figures looked back.

A woman sat at the front, and boundless Immensity swirled around her like a slow storm of Dimensions. She wore a white wool gown pinned at both shoulders with gold brooches, its hem edged with a gold pattern of squares, and a deep blue cloak draped from one shoulder and stitched with tiny constellations. Gold cords laced her sandals up to her knees, and a thin gold crown sat in her dark hair. She leaned back in her seat as if the whole sky were her sitting room, and she was terrifyingly great!

Two men sat behind her. One was tall and pale-haired, with a face like a closed door. The other was lean and dark-haired, with eyes like polished coins. Both gazed down with a cold, grand stillness, and both felt lesser than the woman, yet when Noah looked at them, he felt as if he were looking at something too big to put a name on.

He was looking at...

Unfathomable Immensity.

Profundity: Unfathomable.

True Keystone Sight cannot find a keystone.

Your Dream cannot read how deep it goes. ?????

The woman at the front is greater than the other two. ?????

...!

Below him, the Council of Lucy’s Legacy rose!

Moriarty and the Thinker led them, and more than a hundred Immensities followed in one long rush, Established and Ancient together, their power gatherd into a storm that rolled up into the sky. They stopped above Noah and between him and the elephant, and they gazed up at the newcomers while the great winged elephant floated over them all and looked down.

One of the men stood!

It was the tall one. He rose from the pavilion into the air, and the sky seemed to lean toward him. He looked at everyone below as if they were dust on a table, and he spoke in a thick, rolling accent.

"All of you stand before the grace of THE Followers of Infinite Existence, of THE King of Countless Expanses, and of THE Legacy Maker. You are honored by our presence alone, as..."

The woman waved a hand, her eyes still on the sky.

"Alright, alright. None of that."

The Unfathomable Immensity gathering behind her stopped as if someone had laid a hand on its chest, and the tall man closed his mouth.

"Sorry," she said to the sky, with a small shrug. "He loves speeches. Its been a while..."

She rose and stepped to the edge of the pavilion with one hand on a pillar. Her cloak stirred, the storm of Dimensions around her bowed, and she grinned down at a hundred Immense Ones as if they were old friends who had arrived early.

"Hello to those below. I am Vilenova, and I come from big and high place...yada yada yada...out of the kindness of THE King of Countless Expanses, he chose not to destroy the talent who is spreading across existence and trying to replace existence itself."

"He understands lifeforms. He knows you might feel stifled. You might feel defiant. You might even disobey, and it would be a shame when you do, because then he must collapse everything after."

"So we were sent to make an introduction. To let it be known that this Legacy, and other regions of existence, even when the Narrative of THE Long Night falls over them, can also fall under the rule of THE King of Countless Expanses."

Her eyes passed over the Council and found Noah as if she had known where he was from the start.

"So. The talented one who made our King make a move... you wanna show yourself?"

...!

She said it lightly. Noah looked up at her calmly!

Moriarty floated forward, grim, and spoke before anyone else could!

"There is nobody like that here," he said. "You must be mistaken..."

While he spoke, Noah rose.

He went up slowly through the Council, and they parted for him in silence. Golden-blue brilliance burned around his body, with the thin film of Shinjitsu glimmering close against his skin, and every eye in the sky turned his way! Moriarty and the others watched him with somber eyes. The two men behind Vilenova looked on coldly. Vilenova only smiled, calm and patient, like someone watching a thing she had expected to see.

Noah came to a stop in the air, opposite the winged elephant, and met her gaze.

Vilenova nodded, and her smile turned thin and amused.

"The would-be king, setting his sights on things too grand," she said. "Come. We need to have a talk, to make sure our King’s favor is not a wasted one."

Noah looked down at Moriarty, who was staring up at him somberly!

"It should be okay," Noah said quietly.

The Immense Ones below could only watch!

In the next instant, Vilenova closed her fist.

HUUM!

Everything turned to glass!

The sky went clear and brittle first, then the stars, then the Dimensions themselves, until all of existence around Noah was one vast plane that rang faintly, like a plate that had just been tapped. The Council of Immense Ones vanished with it. Moriarty, the Thinker, the hundred Immensities, the clouds, and the light all went out like writing wiped off a window, and only the winged elephant, its pavilion, and the three figures on it stayed with him.

New prompts opened across his sight.

You have entered a Parallel Quantum Dimensionality of Existence.

Here, every outcome that could happen sits beside every other, and each one looks like glass.

You are standing in one probability. It has not happened yet, and it could.

Beings of enough Profundity can pull others into this place and show them what could be.

You cannot be harmed by what you see here. You can only be shown.

...!

Noah understood it quickly! Existence was many roads at once. It was every road that could be walked, and almost all of them were left untaken. This place kept them anyway, row after row, an endles hall of windows stretching in every direction, and every window held a different ending.

She had pulled him into one of them!

Far below, the Legacy lay in ruins!

Its Dimensions had cracked like dropped plates and hung in the dark as slowley drifting shards. The seas of snow had turned to glass dust. The thrones of the Council lay split in two, and the Mountain that had been Noah’s home stood in halves with nothing alive near it, across thousands of light years of glittering wreckage.

Noah looked down at it calmly. He studied the cracks, the size of the shards, and the order in which things had fallen, as if he were reading a report about someone else’s house.

"This is why I like this place. It is honest. Existence is not one thing that happens. It is every thing that could happen, and most of it never does. Every choice, every blow, every breath splits into outcomes, and nearly all of them fall away unseen. Here they wait. What you see below is one of them, the one where our King closes his hand. It did not happen. But it can. That is the whole point."

She stretched and waved her hands further as behind her, even the other two Immense Ones disappeared from perception!

"Now, why are we here? We are messengers, and we are here now because existence is at a turning point. Many Narratives are rising at once. You have felt them. Maybe you wrote one, yes? They are rising because this is the start of the Cycle. It is...year one. Nothing has settled yet, so everything is possible, and everyone who wants a piece is running."

"THE Long Night is the loudest. A Narrative of winter and debt, laid over every everything, so heavy that most do not even notice it is a story. But it is not alone. There is a Narrative of Fate, which ties what must happen to what already did. A Narrative of Time, which wants every moment to belong to someone. A Narrative of Calamity, old and angry. A Narrative of Destiny, which sits very quietly and pulls many threads. And there are new ones, small ones, with no names yet. Some of them eat other Narratives. Those are the ones that make even me nervous, and I do not get nervous."

Vilenova looked at him closely!

"All of them are running the same race, and the prize is Existence itself. But is already claimed. A few of the great ones have carved it between them, like a cake nobody invited you to. My Master, THE King of Countless Expanses, has a slice. So do the others. All of them are powerful in ways that make me look like a candle. You, me, and many others are all small pieces of their game."

WAA!

Noah’s dream was roaring inside him as he listened!

"Every Cycle is the same. New lifeforms appear with the talent to make a claim of their own, and every Cycle, those at my Master’s level find them, destroy them, and devour what is left. To them, it is housekeeping. My Master is a little kinder. He sent us because he wants this done right, and that is rare, so I would not waste it."

"So I will say it clearly. You need to stop. I know it is frustrating. I know you want to be defiant. But Existence is not for you. It has already been divided by others. You are not special. You are not some chosen. Do everything else you want. Spread your Narrative. Build a Legacy yourself. Grow until Dimensions bow. Only do not try to replace existence with yourself. Existence is vast, and there are countless things for you to do. Do not do the one thing you are forbidden from doing."

"And hope we do not meet again. If we do, it means all of this was for nothing."

...!

Noah listened to all of it with the cool attention he had learned to use!

Behind Vilenova, the great winged elephant also began to fade, like writing wiped off a window.

Noah looked up at her, grand and calm, with gold-blue light burning around him in the glass!

"What if I am still not content?" he said. "What if I still want to do what I want?"

Vilenova smiled!

It was the same easy smile as before, but behind it her eyes held a great many things she kept to herself, and in the next breath a voice spoke inside Noah’s mind, quiet and private.

"You actually have defiance in you, after all this? Maybe there is a chance for you. Hmm...this might end up harming me but...ah."

Her outer expression remained calm as she continued!

"If you are still defiant, then do what you want without being caught."

"When you replace existence that lifeforms already live in, Legacies, Dimensions, Observable Existences, all of it is wrapped in many Narratives, so any change in how those places touch their surroundings is sensed much more easily. If you are still defiant, set your eyes on the endless regions of existence that have no lifeforms. Nobody watches empty places, yes?"

"I and many others never got to live our dreams, because those above us were too grand. Haha. You are something! Meeting you made me remember my old dream. Is this your Narrative? It is a unique one."

"Good luck. I hope you do not get caught, and I hope I am not the one sent to kill you next time. Be low key until you do not have to be."

She winked, and faded with the rest!

The glass broke into light, and existence poured back in around him! The stars returned, the Dimensions turned, and the Legacy lay whole below, with every lamp still burning. The rift was gone, and the sky above it was empty.

Moriarty and the Council of Immense Ones were already rushing toward him as the aura of Unfathomable Immensity disappeared, but their aurora remained!

A warning had been delivered, and very clearly at that as in the end...a possibility was left behind!
