Chapter 502:
Isekai Yururi Kikou ~Raising Children While Being an Adventurer~
Arrived!
"It looks like we’ll be arriving at Bailey's port by this evening."
"Oh, I see."
"”Ohh~””
On the ninth day of our voyage, the ship's journey had progressed smoothly, and Patrick-san informed us that we would be arriving in Bailey a day earlier than planned.
"So, from tonight onwards, you'll be staying at the Risner estate. My brother left a message saying you are welcome to stay as many nights as you like."
"Hahaha~"
"Theodore-kun and–"
"Latis-kun"
"”How are they doing~?””
It seemed that the Risner family had already been informed of our visit to Bailey, and our accommodations had been arranged accordingly.
As expected of them.
"I'm looking forward to seeing them."
"”Looking forward~"”
"But we still have more than half a day left. What should we do today?"
"”Mm~ we study?"”
And so, it was decided that today would be a serious study day—
"Guardia Kingdom, Serdik Kingdom, Argo Kingdom, Creta Kingdom, Belfard Empire, Gretia Kingdom!"
"United Nations of Dwargon, Elisabeth Kingdom, St. Shim Theocracy, Fallus Kingdom, Regulus Empire, Jakar Union!"
"”Did we get them all?"”
"Yes, that's correct."
Allen and Elena were learning geography from Patrick-san, a current government official, using a map with only outlines drawn on it.
"Now, can you point out the locations of each country’s capital?"
"Here, here, and here..."
"Here, here, and here..."
"Correct.—Takumi-san, these children have memorized everything properly."
"Really?—You two are amazing!"
"”Ehehe~””
Compared to them, I completely rely on my status window.
Well, I do remember the country names at least, but as for the capitals of places I have no ties to... I’m probably a bit fuzzy on those.
"Next, let’s learn about each country’s characteristics and specialties."
"”Okay~”"
… It suddenly occurred to me—should I be paying tutoring fees for this?
"Patrick-san, about your teaching fe—"
"No need."
"......"
I got cut off before I could even finish.
Why does everyone always interrupt me before I get to the point?
Is everyone just that perceptive, or am I just too easy to read...? I’d really like to believe it’s the former.
"I'll just splurge on gifts for the Risner family."
"Hopefully, my brother won’t refuse them."
… I'll do my best to push them through.
"Five, right?"
"Yeah."
"Allen-kun, Elena-san, what five?"
"”The countries we've been to!"”
"Oh, I see, the countries you've visited."
"”Yep.””
"That's impressive. You’ve been to more than I have."
“”Ohhh~we won~””
They remember all the places they’ve visited, huh? When I was their age, if I had traveled to a different prefecture, would I have even recognized it properly?
… I have absolutely no memory of that.
"Hmm, I've only been to Guardia and Regulus..."
"Allen wins~"
"Elena wins~"
In Kaiser’s case, while he may not have traveled much on land, he's probably circled entire continents multiple times underwater.
"”We wanna visit all of them!"”
"At your age, you've already been to five countries. You might accomplish that in just a few more years."
"”Will do our best! Oniichan, take us!"”
"That sounds fun. Takumi, invite me when you go."
"... ‘Take us’ doesn’t sound quite right, but well… one at a time, okay?"
“”Yeah!””
That said, aside from Guardia, we had only visited a single city in each country, not traveled across them. So, even for places we've been to, we still had the option of returning and exploring other towns.
Even though this world lacks airplanes and has less developed transportation compared to Earth, I seem to be traveling around more here~ Oh, but I guess instead of planes, dragons and griffins play an active role in transportation.
"”Oh! Have we arrived?"”
As we continued chatting and studying, it seemed we had finally reached the port.
"”Arrived!"”
"Sea travel is quite exhausting~ Well then, as I mentioned earlier, I shall take my leave here."
"”Eh!? Already?"”
Just as we arrived at the port, before even entering the town, Kaiser announced that he would be going his own way.
"Indeed. I’m eager to move my body again."
"Oh, that makes sense."
Being a Leviathan, Kaiser’s regular level of activity must be incredibly high. Spending nine days on a ship where he couldn't engage in intense movement would surely make him restless.
"”Mumu… I get that.””
"......"
The more energetic kids seemed to sympathize with him.
"Alright, I understand. Kaiser, contact me through Telepathy when you feel like meeting up again."
"Indeed. Traveling with you has been enjoyable, Takumi. I shall reach out before long.—Kids, stay hale and hearty until we meet again."
"”Hale and hearty?"”
"It means stay healthy."
"”Okay, we’ll be hale and hearty!”"
Their usage was a little off, but… oh well.
"Huh? Where is Kaiser-san going?"
Seeing Kaiser heading away from town, Eugene tilted his head in confusion.
"We’re going separate ways from here. He has some things to take care of."
"Wait, is he leaving for another place already? Couldn’t he stay for the night and leave tomorrow morning?"
"Ah, well, he was too bored on the ship and wants to move around. So… he’s probably going to run all night."
"What!?"
Well, technically, it’s more like swim all night.
"I understand the need to move after being still for so long, but if someone told me to start running now, I’d struggle."
"Staying still too long can be tiring, too~ I get it. If I had to run now, I’d suffer. Well, Allen and Elena, on the other hand, would probably be thrilled to take on a request from the Adventurers’ Guild right away."
"”Should we take on one?””
"No, no, we’re heading straight to the Risner estate today."
Even though they almost took my joke seriously, we safely arrived in Bailey.
