Chapter 1634: More Ultimate Taboo Secrets

Chapter 1634: More Ultimate Taboo Secrets

Wang Wei did not stay long in the league. After obtaining the information he wanted, he bid his friends farewell before leaving, choosing not to alarm his ancestor since there was no issue. The three primals looked at his back as he flew away.

"Did you feel a bit of a threat from him?" Seven Strike asked.

"I did," Soft Lifting nodded.

"That’s not surprising given how he was able to defeat a pretty decent primal before even reaching such a stage," Slaughter said.

"If nothing unexpected happens, the Dao Opening Sect is guaranteed one of the seven spots," Seven Strike sighed. "And if you consider Wu Hong will probably be the first Saint, that’s a second spot, leaving only five."

"Would Buddhism be considered among the seven?"

"I don’t know," Seven Strike replied. "According to the Sword Destiny Monarch, the Seven Transcendent Factions do not mean only seven Saints. "

"So, what does it mean?"

"He doesn’t know. All he knows is the seven factions will have a unique position in the upcoming Age," Seven Strike explained. "And if we want an opportunity of preserving the status of Sword Dao, we must acquire one of the spots."

"In that case, let’s speed up things," Slaughter said.

"How could we possibly do that?" Soft Lifting asked. They have been doing their best to spread the Ultimate Sword Path while also controlling the Extreme Path swordsmen from causing chaos because of this sudden change. There is also the Unpure Path that has been causing more trouble because of Dugu Jing’s presence.

"We will forcibly recruit all who resist into the court’s army," Slaughter said. "In the face of death, they will either refine their bodies to increase their survival or die in battle."

"That could work, but don’t forget the war is the quickest way to amass merit. The last thing we would want is for one of them to rise."

"It’s not like we are only recruiting them," Seven Strike added. "Anyway, if you put the two paths together, who do you think has the highest chance of surviving? Our goal is merely to use this war to clear out these dogmatic swordsmen."

"And what if they revolt against this order?"

"I wish they would," Slaughter said as a red hue flashed in his eyes.

After returning home, Wang Wei analyzed everything he experienced. One thing that caught him slightly off guard was the league’s unanimous support for adopting the Ultimate Sword Path. He thought that at least one of them would be stubborn and vehemently oppose it. After all, these three have lived for so long and never thought of changing, but now, they were suddenly so open-minded.

’This sudden change seemed to be because of their desire to preserve the supreme status of Sword Dao.’ He remembered the map. Based on his observation, this was an artifact to keep watch on the destiny of Sword Dao across numerous worlds, and maybe even most of the Chaos Universe.

’Something is not adding up,’ Wang Wei thought. ’Even if that was the goal, at least one of them should have believed that the Extreme Path is the best way to preserve Sword Dao’s status. After all, it has been this way for so long. But somehow, these stubborn old men all unanimously agreed that this was the best path.’

Wang Wei understood how dogmatic these swordsmen can be, so he really could not fathom this sudden change. ’Their league used the word [Path] in their names because they had access to the remnant of a Saint’s Sword Will. Based on their league’s current development and their strong support of the Second Origin War, I can deduce they’ve never discovered a transcendent path, so the Ultimate Taboo was enticing.

’However, preserving Sword Dao’s status will be an event involving great destiny — transcendent destiny. Had they known about this beforehand, they would not have been as enthusiastic as they were in the Second Origin. That means everything leads to something happening in the Ultimate Taboo that not only changed their perspective but also placed them on the Ultimate Sword Path.

’But what was it? A flawed method? No, they would have used it by now.’

The flawed method did not guarantee success, but even if someone from the league had tried but failed, there would have been signs.

’Maybe an incomplete method? An incomplete method that revealed the Ultimate Path was the way forward? But how would that explain their focus on Sword Dao Status instead of perfecting this method? How would they even know about the situation of Sword Dao and the fact that they needed to preserve its position?’

All the possibilities Wang Wei thought of could not perfectly explain everything; there seemed to be a piece of the puzzle missing, and it was the piece that fit everything together. ’What am I missing?’ he thought. He reviewed everything he knew about the Ultimate Taboo and analyzed the event.

’What if what they discovered was information about the evolution of Sword Dao and the prediction of its downfall?’ Wang Wei thought. There were many ruins and trials in the taboo, so it’s not out of the ordinary for a vital piece of information or history to appear.

’Something is still missing,’ Wang Wei thought. Everything made sense. The Qi Luck of the Sword Path League manifested, and they discovered a piece of information from the taboo that hinted at a transcendent path to their leaders — it even changed their stubborn nature by showing them the essence of swordsmanship — and lastly, the information granted their faction a mission of preserving their status in the Chaos Universe.

’The entire situation is fishy. Why did the league have the Sword Will from a Saint in the first place? This is smelling like a plot,’ Wang Wei thought, and something immediately clicked in his mind.

’Yes, they are being used as pawns. The lucky encounter was not a manifestation of their fortune, but the cause and effect of receiving that remanent Sword Will and using its luck for their factions,’ Wang Wei thought. Everything made sense. Someone was using them in the battle to preserve the status of Sword Dao.

’The question now is who is it?’ This question could not be answered with the limited information Wang Wei had. However, he had his suspicions.

’It’s probably a Pre-Taboo Saint,’ Wang Wei thought. ’And I’m starting to believe that I was right: there was a second, unknown side to the Ultimate Taboo.’

A question that has been on his and numerous other people’s minds has always been what the Saints were doing during the Second Origin War and the Ultimate Taboo. Now, everybody knew there were a few of them, some of which had already reached the second step of the Quintessence Realm. So, why did they never show up during such a war? Did they just find this level of fighting childish and choose to ignore it?

Wang Wei did not have an answer until he learned that the Trinity Venerable was one of the masterminds of this event, luring Qiyuan to do his bidding. Now, he theorized that a secret event involving all the Saints took place during Ultimate Taboo.

’In fact, there is a high chance the event was not just called the Ultimate Taboo because Qiyuan summoned numerous transcendent path ideas and methods that Grand Dao disapproves of. The true meaning behind that name might be whatever these Saints did.’

Wang Wei was curious, but he resisted the urge to try to divine such information. Even if he sanctified, he might receive a terrifying backlash from such divination. ’No need to rush since I’ll find out eventually.’ He did not think too much about this truth and focused on something that directly affected him.

’My father will most likely be involved in this battle for the Sword Dao Position,’ Wang Wei thought with a groan. His father had his own life and destiny, so he understood why he would willingly participate. But if it were up to Wang Wei, he would prefer that he stay away from these old monsters that have been plotting for eons.

While his father is talented, he’s not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. Without knowing it, he’ll probably hand these old monsters all his money and then help them count it. And once he’s too involved, his mother will also be drawn into it, which means Wang Wei will be forced to participate as well.

’If I could Yan Hai, then the entire sect will also be dragged into that quagmire. And if something were to happen to Yan Hai or me, Hong’er will also be forced to participate. Once she’s in, Maitreya and Buddhism might be pulled in.’

Wang Wei paused, realizing his thoughts were spiraling out of control. He stopped and controlled himself. While his deduction was a possibility, it’s truly the worst-case scenario. He had no idea how exactly things would proceed, or how long before this so-called event would even take place.

’Regardless, I still need to warn my father and the ancestor."
