Chapter 1648: Uncle & Nephew (I)
Chapter 1648: Uncle & Nephew (I)
Xun Junyao took a moment to gather her thoughts. "I keep having this fear that everything is a setup. By joining you, I’m essentially rushing into a demon’s mouth."
"What would give you such an idea?"
"...Why have you never brought up the Fate Line? You must have known when we first met?"
"I didn’t — at least not the first time I heard about you," Wu Hong admitted. "At that time, I was still extremely feeble from my [Existence Injury] from the second war, and my senses were at an all-time low."
"What about when you noticed?"
"My first instinct was that the man chosen for me by Fate must be scum. Could it be that I, wasn’t enough for him? However, I realized we were all victims in this situation. The real culprit is the thing that dictates our lives through those damn Fate Nexuses. I always treated you as the innocent party in all of this."
"I see," Xun Junyao uttered. It was a good way to look at the situation since it was the truth. Without the River of Fate’s interference in their destiny, things would never become this complicated. "Why did you still accept the marriage in the end?"
"I had long realized I couldn’t remove the Fate Line until I met him." Wu Hong explained. "I figured after knowing who it was and showing them my standards — including the fact they could only have me in their life — I would have the ability to cut it when they fall short. But what can I say? Fate won this round of the fight."
"Well, not entirely."
"True," Wu Hong nodded as the two chuckled. With Xun Junyao out of the picture, Fate’s victory was not a hundred percent.
"If I join you, what will be my position? What about the people from my Heavenly Beauty Palace?"
"Your people are also welcome," Wu Hong stated. "As for your status? There are many positions that the continent can benefit from someone of your talent. I’ve even prepared a welcome gift." Two information storage talismans materialized in Wu Hong’s palms before handing them to her.
"What’s this?"
"Two transcendent foundations based on the concept of perfection."
"Really?" What occurred in the Second Heavenly Court has already spread throughout the world, so by now, everybody knows about the Primal Classification System and the significance of Transcendent Foundation Methods.
"Don’t get excited since there are two versions of one technique, and you can only use one."
"Even if that’s true, that is one heck of a welcome gift," Xun Junyao exclaimed. "But why are there two versions?"
"The first one is the best, but if you want to cultivate it, you’ll need to take the risk and enter the Dark Truth."
"What?"
"Yes, you heard me correctly. The materials are too rare, and the only way to gather them is by receiving them from there," Wu Hong explained. "But if you don’t want to do that, you can cultivate the second version. While not as potent, this one will allow you to nurture the [perfection] already existing inside your body.
"However, you should wait until you’re a Primal and have completed your face before cultivating it. Otherwise, you’ll undo all the efforts you’ve made."
"...Thank you."
"No need for that since you’re not one of my people," Wu Hong said.
"One more thing. Is everybody going to be disciples under you, or can I keep my own disciples?"
Wu Hong was about to answer when she noticed something. She glanced at Xun Junayo for a moment before asking: "Do you want everybody to have the same status?"
Xun Junyao lowered her head while her face turned bright crimson.
’I didn’t know this girl was so thin-skinned,’ Wu Hong thought. A Master and Disciple romantic relationship is not a big deal as long as the two are of a similar cultivation realm. Of course, these Literary Scholars would tell you this was the highest form of sins, but in general, no one really cares. However, it seemed that Xun Junyao could not completely overcome the status gap.
"You guys need to integrate into the sect, so you must abandon the old relationship and become a true disciple of the continent."
"I understand," Xun Junyao said. "Although he will not be happy at first, I think he will understand."
"That’s good to hear," Wu Hong nodded. "Well, I have work to do, but one of my clones is in the sect, and it will help with the transition process."
"No problem."
Wu Hong watched Xun Junyao leave, and a smile crept on the corner of her mouth. The light shining on her continent’s Qi Luck Dragon almost blinded her. Xun Junyao herself could be considered a Saint Seed, but along with her comes her Dao Lord disciple, Xiao Tiandi, and that talented chef, Chen Shu.
’Once the twins fully reach their potential, these three finally grow up, and with the eventual return of the Master Lie, our foundation will no longer be the weakest,’ Wu Hong smiled. For years, her continent was placed on the same tier as the Limitless Exchange Hall and the Divine Faith Heaven, despite her strength being among the pinnacle of this world. But now, she is slowly climbing to the top.
...
Time passed, and Wang Wei was enjoying his seclusion. He thought it would last until the war started, but less than 20 Yuan Epochs after his retreat, his nephew, Li Xingwei, returned from the competition, so he was excited to meet him.
"Look at you, all tall and handsome," Wang Wei praised. Li Xingwei most likely inherited his beautiful, elf-like or ethereal face from his mother, along with her black hair. However, his eyes and strong body came from his father, which resulted in the perfect mix of masculinity and femininity. As he stood straight, wearing his white and gold robe, and with an aura that seemed to indicate that he was the origin of all laws between Heaven and Earth, Wang Wei felt as though he was seeing Li Jun and Su Ai fused.
"Uncle Wei," Li Xingwei saluted politely.
"The last time I saw you, you were nothing but a fertilized egg."
Li Xingwei paused before giggling. "Uncle, that’s a terrible joke."
"Is it?" Wang Wei smiled. "Come, tell me everything you’ve experienced."
The two sat together, and Wang Wei pulled out his best wine. Then, Li Xingwei started talking.
"Well, where do we start? I started cultivating when I was..."
"Ha, I told your father you would be more interested in my sutra. Well, to be fair, at that time I was planning on bribing you."
"...I can’t believe I missed your first brothel trip. I always thought I would be the first to bring you, and it would be a bonding experience."
"...You may have drawn out the short change regarding your Innate Talent. I think Heavenly Dao and Grand Dao might have suppressed you, given your talent and how much you have going on for you."
"...Using the concept of [Endless Cycle] for your flesh attribute was a wise move. If used correctly, the potential is no less than my [Nothingness]."
"...The concept of Chakra does have a lot of potential, which I probably should have explored further. Regardless, I’m glad someone finally improved on it, and I don’t think I could have done a better job myself."
"...Well, it’s good you’re not a womaniser like your father. You did well by being direct with that Demon Girl."
"...I heard about your Supreme Outlaw Trial, but your second mother did not describe how truly terrifying it was. There is no need to thank me for the Array Virus. You reminded me that they are another interesting concept I should revisit."
"...It seems that this Ye Nantian was a poor attempt of Heavenly Dao at creating a worthy opponent for you. You wish you had your own Di Tian? You wouldn’t say that had you known the pressure that man once put me under."
"...I wish my Heaven Will Battle was that easy. Yes, having everybody gang up on you was easier in comparison to what I had to go through."
"...After I proved the Dao, nothing major occurred," Li Xingwei finished. "I took my place as the Heavenly Emperor, created my legacy, and ruled peacefully. In hindsight, it was kind of boring compared to how you establish the Heavenly Emperor Era."
"What? Not satisfied with peace and prosperity?"
"Honestly, no," he answered. "I kind of wish there was more to explore or conquer — maybe another lower dimension separate from ours."
Wang Wei was about to shake his head when something dawned on him. Once the Eternal Ascension World becomes the Destiny Center, the scope of the lower dimension might be extended. One way to approach this expansion is to create numerous dimensions of similar size.
"Is something wrong?" Li Xingwei asked.
"What you said might come true one day."
"You mean the lower dimension expansion? Is it because of the Destiny Center thing?" He didn’t know much because of his cultivation realm, but with the limited information he had, it wasn’t hard to put two and two together.
"Yes, but let’s not talk about that," Wang Wei said. "I’m interested in what legacy you left."
