Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1717: Slingshot

Chapter 1717: Slingshot

Wang Wei internally sneered. He was not the kind of person to easily offend anyone — especially an Ancient Saint with great power and potential. However, he needed a way to establish his authority and show these people he was not to be messed with. Unfortunately for Sovereign Dao Eyes, his previous actions made him the best target.

’I can’t underestimate him since he might survive the dangerous zone,’ Wang Wei thought. Just sending the latter to a suicide mission was not enough; he needed additional assurances. ’I can’t believe I’ll be using that so soon.’

With a calm expression on his face, he watched as those Saints argued like merchants at a stall. He understood this was just a distraction: the core issue is that no one wanted to participate in this mission. The battle between 8 Tribunal Lords (4 on each side) was already chaotic enough, but five of them on their sides kept indiscriminately bombarding the enemy’s array. Maybe they will stop once the mission starts, but who knows?

"Alright, here is the list of people selected to participate in this mission," Wang Wei suddenly said. Despite some of the many tempting offers some of these Saints tried to bribe him with, he rejected everybody. Now was a crucial moment for him to establish his authority, and the last thing he would do is let his greed ruin that.

As such, without waiting for anyone to accept or acknowledge his words, he listed a bunch of names. He chose a mix of Ancient and New Saints, but for the latter, he put them on a team and encouraged them to use formation to strengthen their play. His choices were also not random; he selected people based on their strength, Dao, and his perception of their survivability. Most of the information he knew about these people originated from Maitreya, and he knew it was lacking; so, Wang Wei did his best with what he had.

After the selection, Wang Wei subsequently assigned them different nodes to test. As expected, Sovereign Dao Eyes was part of the team, and he was assigned to the worst area. Wang Wei was so blatant in his purpose that some people were surprised. The message was loud and clear: mess with him, and he can control their fate to some extent.

However, the situationship room soon became awkward. Despite Wang Wei’s deployment, no one left. They just stared at him and at each other, creating a strange tension. Wang Wei, however, ignored them. He closed his eyes as if nothing mattered to him. Maybe some people were hoping the tension would get to him and he would try to negotiate or persuade them, thus granting them more power in this situation. However, he remained as calm and serene as a pine tree.

A few seconds later, when the awkwardness and tension had reached their peak, a terrifying killing intent descended in the room, jolting the Saints to their feet. The selected Saints proceeded with their last-minute preparations before deploying to the Infinite Divine Court’s base. As soon as they arrived and began attacking these nodes, the battle changed drastically.

First, an unknown humanoid creature in all-black armor, covering every inch of its body, appeared. This person somehow fought against four of the Tribunal Lords alone. Wang Wei only saw the armored individual, and afterward, the second-step powerhouses on his side stopped attacking the array. With this bit of information, he deduced the enemy could still borrow the strength of the array — that’s the only explanation as to how they could fight against four Tribunal Saints.

Afterward, he watched as the Infinite Divine Court sent their own Primordial Saints to counter. It did not take long for a stalemate to appear, which was not good news for any of the remaining Saints. The Lords wanted to test the nodes to break the array, but they could not do so. To no one’s surprise, the base received a command to send all the Primordial Saints except for the ones on guard duty.

Once everybody had left, Wang Wei finally sat down. He watched the battle through the arrays in the meeting room with the remaining Primals. A frown soon appeared on his face. Their side should have the numerical advantage, meaning as long as they hold the enemy’s Primordial Saints, there should still be enough people to test out the nodes. However, the result was far from this. The divine court’s Saints are capable of borrowing power from their array, allowing their people to fight multiple.

"This is not good news for us," Wang Wei suddenly said. The Primals’ expression became grave as they understood his meaning. If the transcendent powerhouses cannot test out the nodes, then they will be deployed. And if things truly get to a point, even Wang Wei, as the commander, might be forced to be deployed.

Numerous thoughts flashed through Wang Wei’s mind as he concocted a brilliant plan that would not only solve the current issue but also add to the overall plan he discussed with the Tribunal Lords to hurt the Infinite Divine Court. ’The only issue is all this death and Death Reverence’s presence,’ Wang Wei groaned.

Sadly, there is no way for him to have his cake and eat it. The very nature of this expedition means many lives will be lost, and a chaotic individual such as Death Reverence, who thrives in such an environment, is a problem — at least for the people who have to deal with him.

"Here is what I need all of you to do," Wang Wei swiftly ordered. He explained his plan before handing over secondary control of the Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array. Although this plan was cruel, none of these Primals has reached their current realm without millions of lives stained in their hands. As such, they hurried over. After all, their lives were on the line.

The essence of the formation is to borrow the six artificial Grand Constructs. So, through it, the Primals used the River of Time to travel vast distances through this timeline’s Primordial Chaos. They then used the same power to teleport worlds to designated areas of the Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array.

Bang!

An entire world — which was encased in a space-time bubble — was "thrown" with enormous force. An entire realm with trillions upon trillions of lives was thrown like a slingshot, swirling through primordial chaos, and heading directly to one of the array nodes the Tribunal Lords wanted to test. The fate of the inhabitants could be imagined.

Everybody was surprised by this sudden turn of events — especially the Infinite Divine Court. As a result, they did not immediately react before the first world hit its target. However, when the second world arrived, numerous Paragons and Primals rushed out of the array to stop it. Unfortunately, their attempt was futile.

Wang Wei went out of his way to use the power of their base’s array to ensure no Paragon had the power to stop his actions forcefully. The court had only one option: destroy these worlds before they hit.

’The Highest Sovereign can be described as a cruel man. After all, his invasion has caused the death of countless people,’ Wang Wei sneered. ’However, he’s also a Holy Saint who loves and is quite benevolent to his people. The citizens of this timeline have long been incorporated into the Infinite Divine Court, meaning they are his people. Do you have the guts to slaughter them mindlessly? Well, even if you have, it won’t matter.’

His analysis was soon proven to be correct. The first five worlds that he whirled at them reached their target without anyone trying to destroy them. Then, someone seemed to have given a ruthless order. Countless Primals and Paragons rushed out to try to intercept the enemy’s attack. Unfortunately, the worlds Wang Wei chose were massive, and flying at such a terrifying speed made them nigh unstoppable. Without much of a choice, the court had to borrow more power from its array to stop this horrific tactic.

’That’s fine by me,’ Wang Wei smiled. The more they used their arrays, the more information they revealed, and the more nodes the Tribunal Lords could detect or eliminate until they found the right one. This approach is only slower than directly attacking the central nodes. And that’s not mentioning the overall plan of increasing their karmic connection to this timeline to a profound level using slaughter, killing, and death.

"Use the Primordial Shots," Wang Wei ordered the people under him. The Tribunal Lords created an artificial Primordial Chaos, which may not be that useful in the grand scheme of things. However, Wang Wei found a use for it. By using its power, the world they sling can blend with this timeline’s primordial chaos, rendering them invisible. With a mixture of visible and invisible worlds, the number of hits that land has increased, which means more nodes were tested.

"Excellent," Wang Wei muttered. "Now, let’s deal with Sovereign Dao Eyes." Without any worries about being summoned to the battlefield, he can focus on his previous plan. So, without wasting much time, he left the meeting room and returned to his personal quarters.
