Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1755: The Most Important Step

Chapter 1755: The Most Important Step

Emperor Kong looked at the window. Over the years, he had grown fond of peering into the distance, losing himself in the endless clouds. However, today was not for celebration. Despite his overwhelming victory, there was no joy on Kong’s face.

"We must deal with these primals," the avatar said. Their previous plan was based entirely on a lie from the start. No Saint was coming — albeit, before the establishment of the array, this was still a possibility, just a very small one. Afterward, Kong controlled another candidate who was desperately trying to cling onto power, and while the other primals caused chaos, the candidate would try to fuse the array into the World Core. The plan — as expected — failed. And now, the Nine Council is on guard against other possible attempts.

"Our goal has always been to wait after I take my position in the Council to deal with the issue of the array, so why are you in a hurry?" Kong calmly asked.

"Those people are starting to question things," the avatar sighed. "Probably Glass Pen causing trouble."

"Then, let him."

"I don’t care what trouble he’s causing, but I’m worried he might successfully gather them together. They might not be able to guess your identity, but he will."

"Glass Pen is predictable," Emperor Kong calmly stated. "It won’t be long before he contacts you and tries to blackmail us. You only need to put the fear of God into him, and he will quiet down long enough for me to take my position." Sage Glass Pen was a minor issue. Kong’s current concern was what was about to take place. When he first concocted his plan, there were five steps, and the third was the most dangerous and the most crucial. Luckily for him, the Mortal Dao Art has increased his chances of success.

"You’re probably right," the avatar nodded. "Have you thought about how much of the merit you’re going to give Wang Wei?"

"I’ve thought about it and decided on 60%."

"That much?"

"It’s better to do it this way and completely deal with the issue," Kong explained. Wang Wei is a walking contradiction. He is both petty and magnanimous. If Kong only gives him a small percentage, he won’t say anything for now, but on a later day, he will bring back the subject — just like a petty woman who refused to let her partner win an argument. However, if Kong can offer him a decent amount, Wang Wei will let it go and might even help him clean up the mess.

"I understand your logic, but it still pains me," the avatar sighed. The amount of merit is just too much. Yu Yan only spread the Enlightenment Temples in the lower dimension, and even then, some of it was shared with others. Meanwhile, Wang Wei’s reach was only to the extent of the Dao Opening Sect’s territory, along with a small share from other regions that copied his idea.

Meanwhile, theLiterary Realm is about 70% the size of the Dao Opening Sect’s territory, and as long as their plans succeed, the temple will spread to every corner of the Nine Realm World. Even though Kong will have to share with some of his followers — especially the hermit — the amount is insignificant. But without doing anything, Wang Wei will receive more than half.

"Our objective is to use this world as an opportunity to become an S-Class Primal, catching up to the people from the Golden Era and competing for the Saint Positions," Emperor Kong calmly stated. "Any other benefits are secondary."

Although Kong is considered a leader on par with Qiyuan, Dugu Baitian, and Ying Zheng, and with all these people from the Golden Era, everyone knew he was not truly on par with them. If not for the Mother Buddha supporting him, he would probably not even have a seat at the same table as these people. However, once this plan is accomplished, he will not only have caught up, but he will still have the lead over most of them.

"Tru –" The avatar sensed the communication talisman and checked it. He sneered. "You were right on the money about Glass Pen."

"You can deal with him," Kong said as he walked away. "I’ll prepare for what’s coming next."

...

"What do you want?" the avatar asked with a cold and indifferent look.

"Is that how you talk to someone who is holding your life in their hands?" Glass Pen sneered.

"What do you mean by that?"

"You might be able to hide it from these people, but do you think you do the same to me?" Glass Pen countered. "I know those Enlightened Temples and their true inventors."

The avatar’s expression turned ugly for a few seconds before swiftly returning to a serene calm. "So?"

"Do you think I’ll let you become a lord?" Glass Pen sneered. "Exchange places with me or I’ll ruin everything."

"Go ahead."

"You think I don’t dare?"

"Do it, and I’ll ruin you," the avatar sneered. "The moment I hear the slightest rumor about my identity, I’ll kill myself to return to base and accuse you of ruining my mission. I’ll put the title of traitor or deserter on you so the Tribunal Lord will instantly execute you."

"You!"

"What? You think I don’t dare?"

Glass Pen exhaled to calm down. His mind operated at the fastest speed possible. "Your threat doesn’t intimidate me. There are no written rules that we must work together or even that we shouldn’t kill each other. So, do as you wish. The Lords will only treat you as a clown."

The avatar chuckled. "You forgot who the commander is. Do you really think Wang Wei would pass up an opportunity to eliminate you, a member of the Grand Sect Alliance? He probably has a hundred ways to pin countless crimes on you — all he needs is an opportunity."

Glass Pen’s face turned bright red, almost reaching a shade similar to blood. He knew how much power Wang Wei recently acquired after that speech. And with what happened with Sovereign Dao Eyes, Kong’s plan had a high chance of success.

"You’d better stay out of my way, or I’ll do whatever is necessary to ruin you," Kong threatened, staring intently at the elderly man. Glass Pen snorted coldly before teleporting away.

’What an idiot,’ Kong thought. This world was still a part of the Reverse Black Stone Array, meaning that before the mission is completed and all the necessary nodes are destroyed, no one can leave — even by using death and resurrection. ’He should figure that out soon, but just the possibility will still make him hesitate. By the time he made up his mind, it would be too late."

Kong followed a group of armed guards from the Nine Council. Using a special teleporting method, they arrived at the headquarters: a white tower located in this unknown dimension. He looked around, and all the selected Lord Candidates had also just arrived.

Soon afterward, a delegate led by the Taoist Lord and the Artisan Lord arrived. Kong observed these two individuals. As the only Lords who survived the expedition’s first attack, they were either extremely lucky or highly skilled. No matter which one, they were worth noting.

The Taoist Lord was a quiet middle-aged man, but the Artisan Lord was a verbose young man who smelled of medicine, probably because she was a Pill Lord among the many professions of the Artisan Path. She chatted amiably with all seven newly elected candidates before taking them to the Inheritance Tower.

Each path had its own room, and Kong reached his. Although called a room, it was more of a pocket dimension with a small mansion inside. "As expected," Kong thought. Before receiving the inheritance, there was one last test: a scan by the inheritance spirit. Such information was not made public, probably because it was usually not part of the process. However, with the invasion of the Primordial Otherworld Demons, it was to be expected.

The scan of the body and soul was not an issue for Kong. Paragon Jiming’s Steal Dao has been perfected in that aspect. However, anything deeper would definitely reveal trouble. ’Luckily, I was prepared.’ Kong did not hesitate to activate the Heaven Deception Array hidden in the most profound depths of his soul.

The first version of this array is widely known in the lower dimension, and Xu Shi had long taken a copy. Recently, with the resurgence of Saints and the revelation of how powerful they are compared to Paragons, many people and factions have been working on a way to hide from them. Kong had found the foundation of this array quite solid, so he also used it for his research.

However, he was not wholly confident in his success; primarily, he feared that the means of detection used by the Nine Council would involve Saint-level powers. As the ancient sages said, the prepared are usually rewarded. Kong had long used merit to strengthen the array, but that was not the only means he had at his disposal.
