Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1761: The Life Gate

Chapter 1761: The Life Gate

Despite his rejection, many of these Saints kept on insisting. The feeling of fighting an enemy that could not be killed or defeated was, to say the least, annoying. The worst part is these spirits are not entirely mindless. After a few were sealed, they became wiser and protected themselves. They developed the ability to share memories and experiences, making the Saints’ situation even more challenging.

One Saint was annoyed beyond words and immediately used the incantation without Wang Wei’s approval. However, the result was not what he expected. He thought he could forcibly use Wang Wei’s power, but who was Wang Wei? He was now approaching the pinnacle of the [Immortal Realm] with three Saint Foundations, and with two already perfected, one Saint trait and the other only needed a catalyst to succeed. By all accounts, he was reaching the point at which he would have achieved everything possible in the [Immortal Realm].

With the support of the Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array, it did not take much effort to stop someone from forcibly using his power. ’I’ll remember you, Saint Ink Flame,’ Wang Wei thought. Regardless of how he was feeling, he understood a truth from this event: he needed to do something, or Saint Ink Flame would not be the only audacious one. If many Saints tried to take his power, then he would be fearless. So, after a quick analysis, Wang Wei transmitted his orders:

"If you really want to use my method, then I suggest you make contact with the Karma Root Sovereign. Her powers are much more potent than mine, and you might even be able to absorb the negative karma and obsession for your benefit."

These words immediately silence the expedition’s communication channel. While this approach was feasible, who among these people was not clever or knowledgeable? Don’t they know the possible horror of being connected to a higher being — especially one that has mastered the Dao of Karma? They targeted Wang Wei because he posed no threat.

Wang Wei sneered after seeing their reactions. He could have used his power and ordered them to do so, but he only suggested it. Why? He did not want to garner the ire of so many Saints. As the saying goes, it’s better to have more friends than enemies. However, this was not his primary purpose: Wang Wei wanted to cover his ass. If the Tribunal Lords or someone else ever questioned his ability, he could use the excuse that he offered a solution; it was the people who did not execute it.

’While this method is an excellent way to guarantee my power, it will not grant me any military contribution,’ Wang Wei analyzed. The Tribunal Lords created a perfect system to distribute military contributions to non-combatants, and the most complex one is for the commander. Wang Wei never selected any other advisors for the command room, which gave him absolute power and all the credit, but it also meant he bore all the risk. More importantly, his decision to utterly control the command room forced the Tribunal Lords to be even more strict on how to distribute military contributions to him.

’Poverty is really the ban of all heroes,’ Wang Wei complained. Who knew something as simple as the Refining Path Stone would become so valuable to him? Although Wang Wei was contemplating other methods to perfect his third Saint foundations, he had a feeling he still could not escape the Refining Path Stones; he might need both approaches to finally reach the state of perfection he had envisioned.

’What’s the point of complaining?’ Wang Wei sighed before proceeding with his plan. He connected with Shenghuovi, one of the seven Vice-Leaders of the Healing Department. As for why she wasn’t the leader? Well, she hasn’t truly returned to the Saint realm — or at least, that’s what she has claimed.

"Commander." Shenghuovi did not show the usual cold and aloof demeanor, which is understandable. Under the eyes of these Tribunal Lords, who were probably of the same cultivation as her when she was a fully realized Chaos Demon God, it was wise to rein in the arrogance.

"Your domain is life, right? Can’t you do something about these Saint Obsession Spirits?" Wang Wei asked.

"What do you expect me to do?"

"I don’t know — send them to the afterlife."

"That’s my sister’s domain."

"Death? Any chance you could contact her?"

"Are you serious, commander?"

"My apologies. I forgot where we were," Wang Wei smiled. It seems he wouldn’t get any helpful information from her. Regardless, he still needed to probe.

"Life and Death are interconnected. Can’t you do anything?" Wang Wei pressed.

"I’m sorry." Shenghuovi calmly replied, forcing Wang Wei to give her a knowing glance.

"These Obsession Spirits, while flawed, are still considered living beings. I need you to create a door that is irresistible to life — especially an incomplete or flawed one. Then, as soon as they step through it, these spirits will instantly be sealed."

"What do you mean by irresistible?"

"All sentient beings or creatures designated as [Life] have many innate or primal instincts. It could be the instinct for survival, evolution, progress, or even perfection. I need your door to awaken the most primal instinct of these spirits to the point that they cannot even control themselves and rush in. Is that possible?"

"It’s possible," she nodded. ’The ingenuity of these humans is truly terrifying,’ Shenghuovi thought. While her people had many innate abilities and advantages, creativity and ingenuity were not among them. However, her time in the Heavenly Court has allowed her to understand why the human race replaced the Chaos Demon God as the destined race of the Chaos Universe.

"How long do you need? I need it as soon as possible."

"I would need some assistance," Shenghuovi responded.

"Tell me what you need, and I’ll provide it." The Life Chaos Demon God’s request was expected. She wanted other Life Dao experts to aid her, including the Department Leader, Desire Dao Expert, Sealing Dao Experts, Obsession Expert, Weapon Refining Experts, and many more. Wang Wei could tell that Shenghuovi’s attempt to pressure her boss was a power play, but he did not care. As a leader, he needed ambitious subordinates, not only because greed and ambitions are the most driving forces, but also because it’s the best way to control them.

Shenghuovi immediately started her work. The initial idea was to create these Saint Artifacts to seal these Saint Obsession Spirits. However, refining any artifact took too much time. Instead, she settled for a semi-artifact spell. The [Origin of Life Gate Technique] did not take too long to create, but to ensure its potency, countless resources and weapon refining runes were added to the spell.

Bang!

Myriad red gates descended across multiple worlds inside the Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array. Anyone who laid eyes on them had the insatiable desire to rush inside. Luckily, this thing was designed solely for the Obsession Spirits. The greatest strength of these creatures was their endless desire and unquenchable infatuation. However, it’s also their weakness. If someone or something could fulfill whatever it is that prevents them from dying and moving on, then they will cease to exist. And that’s precisely what this door did.

Wang Wei calmly watched as most of these creatures rushed into the door and thought, "The Chaos Demon Gods have adapted. Before their technique — while extremely potent — lacked refinement and exquisiteness. It was like a giant smashing a giant wooden club. Now, after adapting to human society and way of thinking, that wooden club has turned into the finest steel.’

Shenghuovi was never required for this plan. The best approach was to leave it to someone with the Desire Domain. Of course, treating these spirits as a unique [life] had its benefits in increasing the chances of this plan’s success. However, one of Wang Wei’s objectives has always been to gather more information on the Chaos Demon Gods.

’However, the issue is whether that is only Shenghuovi’s evolution or the entire race?’ Wang Wei doesn’t believe the Chaos Demon Gods will pose a threat for a simple reason: their small population. There are only 3800 of them, and even if one day, they had 3800 Tribunal Lords, Wang Wei would still have confidence in the human race to suppress them. At least, he’ll be able to do it. Regardless of his confidence, he still needed to be wary.

’Shenghuovi’s change is probably not a simple thing,’ he analyzed. ’Her nature is more open-minded than the others, hence why she chose to join the Heavenly Court and form an agreement with Maitreya. More importantly, I suspect the Mother Buddha has been slowly influencing her. Otherwise, her transition would not have been so smooth.

The issue is that Maitreya should be aware of the danger of making her so powerful. So, what’s her endgame? Is she trying to convert her into Buddhism?’

Wang Wei shook his head; that was unlikely. Maitreya believed faith was sacred, so she would never try to coerce or influence anyone into converting. In her mind, such people are not pure of heart and would never truly follow the Buddha’s teachings.
