Chapter 1837: Obsession Orb
Chapter 1837: Obsession Orb
A handsome middle-aged man with white hair, a black mark on his forehead, and bright, beautiful, violet eyes stood beside Lin Fan. His white robe bellowed with the wind, adding a touch of nobility and immortality to his already handsome appearance.
"My master and Shi’er are fine, right?" Lin Fan asked.
"They’ll be alright, only suffering some minor injuries," Hundunxi replied.
"How minor?"
"Not enough for you to worry about."
"How about I check on them?"
"We don’t have time to waste," Hundunxi frowned. If he did not feel like something bad was about to happen, he wouldn’t have taken Lin Fan with him. Unfortunately, he has already verified that the source was not the Destruction General; more importantly, his deduction indicated Lin Fan was the key to solving the issue.
"Let’s go. This timeline is about to be wiped out."
Without waiting for Lin Fan’s agreement, he tore a spatial portal out of the Chaos Origin Realm, teleporting directly outside of the Primordial Timeline. Hundunxi rushed home, but the feeling of danger intensified the closer he was.
"What’s the source?" Hundunxi thought while calculating the secret of Heaven and Earth. The result disappointed him, but one piece of information caught his attention: Lin Fan was the key to his survival. Hundunxi took one glance at the primordial timeline and chose not to enter through the normal means. Although he didn’t know what threat was awaiting him, it was in his best interest not to just barge in and reveal himself.
Hundunxi began searching for another safer and quieter entrance. Now that he had returned to the Primordial Chaos Saint Realm, he could not utilize even more techniques from his peak state. So, in his search, Hundunxi found another entrance to the primordial timeline.
One of the fundamental laws governing reality is that the Grand Dao cannot be absolute. Every decision she made must allow one possibility of survival, one chance of ascension, to all sentient beings. That one possibility might be a statistical anomaly given how small it was, but it must exist.
The treatment of Alternate Selves and Original Beings is vastly unfair. So, under this mechanism, Grand Dao must leave a door open for one of them. Through his search, Hundunxi discovered a phenomenon from the River of Time called [Convergence]. For a brief period, all timelines will resonate with the Primordial Timeline and connect to it.
In that brief period, any Origin Being from any timeline can enter the Primordial Timeline. Unfortunately, most people cannot even detect the [Convergence], and even if they did, the time was too short for most people to cross. It would take great luck to make the most of this opportunity. Fortunately, Hundunxi doesn’t need luck.
With a little effort, he created an artificial [Convergence] and brought Lin Fan with him. Of course, before entering, he used every hiding method he could think of. Now that he knew danger was coming, how could he not be cautious? And since Lin Fan was the key to his survival, Hundunxi went the extra length to protect him.
Bang!
As soon as Hundunxi landed, he found himself surrounded by an all-white world. He reacted fast enough, immediately trying to push Lin Fan away from this situation. Unfortunately, one of the targets was Lin Fan, making his decision futile. Soon, a white light entered their bodies, purging them of any traces of taboo.
"Damn you, I’m not corrupted," Hundunxi yelled, but no one answered him. Since he was labeled a potential threat, Grand Dao will purify him. Nothing he says can change otherwise. Of course, Hundunxi won’t just accept such humiliation; he desperately tried to protect himself.
However, midway through the process, something dawned on him: the Abomination is not the only taboo he had come into contact with. Because of Pangu, he also interacted with the being known as [Perfection]. Hundunxi’s face turned ugly.
"No, she’s not trying to purge my body from the taboo’s trace. This is just an excuse to find out whether I’ve connected to Perfection or not." The First Son of Chaos realized he had been tricked. Everything Grand Dao did — making deals with him, providing resources for his recovery, helping her draw out Pangu — was all to lure him into a sense of safety and lower his guard. One of her targets has always been him, and he had fallen for it.
"If she realizes I have the Obsession Orb, Mother will directly order the Destruction General to annihilate him," Hundunxi thought, his body involuntarily trembling. He had experienced a portion of that epic battle between Pangu and the Destruction General. Although he was in a half-state of death, he saw their terrifying power. Even at his peak, he was not a match for that general, let alone now.
"I must find a way to escape," Hundunxi thought. His mind worked at the fastest speed to create a plan, and without wasting even a nanosecond, Hundunxi executed it. First, he allowed the purification light to do his job while roaring to the heavens, pretending that his anger had turned into rage.
Once the light had dealt with most of the purification — including removing his memory regarding Cthulhu’s name and moniker — Hundunxi launched the second phase of the plan. Right as the light was about to target the aspect of his [Existence] about the orb — aspect that Hundunxi had been doing his best to hide — he roared to the heavens before using a secret technique that burned everything about him.
Acting as if he had suffered the highest insult and would rather die than bow his head, Hundunxi began attacking the white dimension with the power he had gained from the sect technique. He burned his blood, body, soul, and even [Existence] for more power, but the result was futile. In the end, the Primordial Chaos Demon God once again returned to Limbo.
Mingyunjun was not the only one who could fake his death. After the last trace of his body dissipated, Hundunxi’s True Self entered Lin Fan’s body to hide. Lin Fan’s body was already turned into the perfect vessel for his existence from Grand Dao. Now, after recuperating a part of his strength, Hundunxi strengthened these abilities to ensure he could evade Grand Dao’s detection.
Hundunxi’s plan succeeded. After searching everywhere and basically torturing the poor Lin Fan, Grand Dao eventually released him from the purification. However, Hundunxi was not happy. Forget about the humiliation; the greatest pain was all the energy he had lost for this success.
Previously, with all the Primordial Chaos Force and a portion of the Power Force, Hundunxi was confident he could regain 90% of his power and return to the Grand Dao Saint level. However, now, after sacrificing a significant portion to ensure his escape, he’ll barely return to the second step. The worst part is that he has to act like a street rat, always hiding his trail so his mother won’t detect him.
Lin Fan appeared in the Primordial Timeline. He checked his surroundings and realized he was now on a desolate planet in an unknown Chaos World. "I wonder how the war is going back home," he thought.
"Don’t rush to return home."
"I knew you wouldn’t die so easily," Lin Fan sighed.
"I’ll be using your body to hide for a while. I’ll also be recuperating and can’t communicate with you, so try not to die," Hundunxi calmly stated. Lin Fan sighed to himself, shaking his head internally. Although he didn’t know every detail, he could deduce many things from the information he knew. Doing business with Grand Dao is a double-edged sword. In some ways, Grand Dao is the most honorable being to be associated with, while also the vilest thief. For the sake of the universe’s protection, she has no bottom line.
"Hold on a moment before you disappear," Lin Fan asked. "Why do I feel like my body is weird? Like I suddenly feel a bit lighter."
"Grand Dao’s forceful purification also healed some of the Dao Corruption you previously suffered from."
"Are you saying I’m healed?" Lin Fan hurriedly asked.
"Dream on," Hundunxi poured cold water on him. "It just alleviates the problem."
"By how much?"
"If you use the Otherworldly Foundation Plan, you can condense 330 Heavenly Veins. If you reincarnate to wash out the corruption, you might succeed by the middle of the Transcendent Era."
"That’s a lot of improvement," Lin Fan thought with shining eyes.
"Yes, you’re quite lucky," Hundunxi said with gritted teeth.
"My master’s luck and destiny must have rubbed off on me," Lin Fan smiled. Hundunxi remained quiet. He had already detected the truth. Kong’s destiny was indeed responsible for this outcome, but it wasn’t because it blessed his disciple. The way it manifested was by absorbing Hundunxi’s luck and transferring it to Lin Fan.
"Damn it," Hundunxi thought, resisting the urge to rage out. He had realized that while Lin Fan was a way for him to hide, he had also become his prison. And as long as he continues to utilize Lin Fan’s ability to hide from Grand Dao, his own luck will slowly transfer to that human bastard.
