Chapter 1939: The Truth (II)
Chapter 1939: The Truth (II)
"In my world, there is a power called obsession," Wu Hong said. "The method you used to fuse with this dimension's Saint Power is somewhat similar. I will give you the information I have, and if you can create a method that turns you into a semi-Obsession Spirit, you will not only survive, but you'll also have a terrifying potential as a Saint."
"Really?" the Array Peak Master said.
"It's true, but I should warn you: obsession is a strange power, so I can't guarantee that you'll succeed. More importantly, if you do, there is a high chance you'll form a karmic connection to a terrible being." Wu Hong still remembered Wang Wei's theory that the [Power of Obsession] was created or the result of [Perfection], one of the first Grand Dao Saints of the universe.
"How terrifying are we talking about?" the Holy Lord asked.
"More terrifying than your ancestor and the people responsible for the Red Cloud combined."
"This!"
"Maybe this isn't such a good idea," the Holy Lord said.
Wu Hong shrugged. "It's up to you."
"I'll do it," Elder Wong said.
"Elder, is this wise? Maybe think about it for a while," the Array Peak Master said.
"My greatest fear is not being able to find a worthy guardian as successor. If I can live long enough to fulfill my goal, I don't mind dying — no matter how."
"Very well," Wu Hong said before waving her hand to condense a rune with all the knowledge she had about the [Power of Obsession]. "You don't have to worry too much. The being I spoke of is in a half-dead state, so it's not like you don't have a chance."
"I understand," Elder Wong calmly nodded while the others were thinking that such words were not as reassuring as the Saintess might think.
"Alright, show me the evidence."
"It's right there," the Holy Lord pointed at the red Dao tablet. "Years ago, our founder feared the other Holy Land might smear our names, so he left some of his memories in this tablet."
"It seems your founder knew what kind of person the other Saints were," Wu Hong commented. "What about the other tablets? What's on them?"
"Our sect's techniques," Han Guo added. "Long ago, we almost lost our inheritance because of the curse. Our predecessors used great wisdom to copy the red Dao Tablet to preserve our inheritance. Unfortunately, the methods of creating the tablets have been lost."
"Is that why there is a small library at the end?"
The Array Peak Master sighed deeply. "We have failed our predecessor. Since we couldn't replicate the tablets, we had no choice but to put our record inside this dimension and assign a guardian, all in the hopes that the Saint power protecting the tablets could also protect them. Unfortunately, that alone is not enough. Every year, we lose a bit of our knowledge — of our history."
"I see," Wu Hong said, approaching the tablets and touching them. A quick analysis revealed she couldn't reproduce the red tablet. As for the black ones? Even they were a bit too complex. If she wanted to reproduce them, the process would require countless yuan epochs of study. Sadly, time was of the essence; Wu Hong had too many plans to distract herself from such a matter. Of course, there were some alternative approaches.
"Holy Lord."
"Yes, Saintess?"
"I need you to start spreading the Battle Spirit System," Wu Hong announced. "The citizens of the Borderworld have been doing their parts, so it's time for the rest to do their parts."
"That's not an issue, but I can only control our territory."
"Don't worry about the other holy land," Wu Hong nodded. "Once they realize the system is a veritable way to improve our strength, they'll try to get their hands on it. They won't succeed, but you can ask them for a hefty price to set it up and maintain it for them."
"But we will still be the ones in control, right?" Han Guo asked.
"That's right."
"Good."
"How do we set up the system?" the Array Peak Master asked.
"Here," Wu Hong said, condensing an information talisman.
"Thank you, Saintess."
Wu Hong nodded before walking in front of the red tablet and sitting down. She spread her divine sense, and the world around her suddenly changed.
"Three Virtue, what the hell did you do?" A roar spread between Heaven and Earth, followed by a colossal hand slapping down on the True Qi Path Holy Land. A golden shield appeared around the sect, blocking the attack.
"Emperor Suit, how dare you!" A handsome man in a blue robe with three clouds embroidered on his clothes appeared. His expression was pale, but that did not hide the anger in his eyes.
"That's my question," Emperor Suit said, his eyes radiating a domineering pressure. He was a handsome man with an angular face, white hair, a white-and-gold robe with dragon embroidery, and a red mark on his eyebrow.
"What did you do to sanctify so quickly?"
"Since when do I have to explain to you about my cultivation?"
"Since your action might have brought a terrifying being into our world."
"Watch your words, as I will not take such accusations lightly," Three Virtue Paragon said.
"It seems there is no reasoning with you. Fine by me. Anyway, I also prefer talking with my fist." Emperor Sui wasted no time attacking, and the battle was immediately one-sided. In less than a dozen attacks, Three Purity already started to vomit blood, forcing him to activate his sect's array to contain. Unfortunately, after Emperor Sui used his [Emperor Sword], the battle once again became one-sided.
"Fellow Daoists, please stop." A middle-aged man dressed in a black-and-white Taoist robe, holding a jade ruyi scepter with five colors, suddenly separated them.
"I was waiting for you to show up," Emperor Sui calmly stated. "Today, one of you will give me an explanation. Otherwise, I will not hesitate to burn my [Existence] to kill one or both of you. That's a promise. And you know me: I never break my words."
The Three Virtue Saint clenched his fists and teeth, while Five Qi Harmony Saint sighed deeply. "We'll tell you the truth."
"Don't you dare!"
"Do you want to face his wrath?"
Three Virtue was silent. The two of them only had 6-pillar foundations while Emperor Sui had ten. Without working together, none of them was his match individually. But, if he were to go berserk, one or both of them would probably die.
The memory changed, and Wu Hong found herself in a blue room with the three founders sitting across from each other at a table. Five Qi poured tea, but no one was in the mood for that.
"Stop wasting my time," Emperor Sui declared.
"Truthfully, I don't know much about myself. While I was trying to sanctify, I kept feeling that I would fail, which prevented me from even trying. Then, fellow Doaist Three Virtue came to me and said he had a Saint opportunity he wanted to share.
"At first, I was skeptical, but he said it only required participating in a dangerous trial to retrieve something. I followed him, and he was right about the danger part. We almost didn't survive, but eventually, we acquired the item"
Five Qi paused before glancing at Three Purity. "He took the item away, and I didn't see him for a few months. Then, he returned and took me to an unknown location where there was something called the [Tree of Omniscience]. We meditated under it, and without realizing it, we had an epiphany and successfully created our sanctification method."
Emperor Sui glanced at Three Purity, who did not utter a word. The Supreme Emperor suddenly released a terrifying killing intent.
"Fellow Daoist, this is not the time to let your pride dictate your actions," Five Qi said, and Three Purity immediately understood his meaning: speak or deal with Emperor Sui on your own from now on.
Three Purity gritted his teeth for a few seconds before exhaling deeply. "My story began the same way as his: I had a feeling that my sanctification would fail. So, I began traveling the world to find inspiration. Unfortunately, that wasn't helpful, so I broadened my horizon: I left our timeline in search of an epiphany.
"My travel led me to a place called the Infinite Exchange Hub, I —"
"What's that?"
"It's not important."
"I'll decide what's not important," Emperor Sui sneered.
"You!"
The Five Qi Saint coughed lightly.
Three Virtue exhaled deeply. "It's a place where people from across the Infinite Trichiliocosm come to meet, discuss the Dao, and exchange resources. I figured if there were a place that could help me, it would be it. And I was right.
"My arrival was perfect. A powerful Saint has been consistently conducting a tournament to find a disciple, and it just so happened that the next competition was about to start.
"I entered, and with great luck, I successfully finished third. And that's when I met him."
"Met who?"
