Chapter 2629: The Deity’s Gaze
Chapter 2629: The Deity’s Gaze
Unblind Zuoqiu was taken aback by Zu An’s question. He hesitantly lowered his voice and replied, “They worship the Deity of Annihilation. I don’t dare to utter his name, and I don’t advise you to seek it either. You’ll only bring annihilation upon your world if you draw his gaze...” Fearing that his words had offended the Deity of Annihilation, he anxiously took out a book and began chanting as if to tap into his deity’s protection.
Zu An was disappointed by the other party’s frightened reaction. He'd been hoping to gather more information about the Deity of Annihilation. The Monster World had nearly destroyed the Cultivation World, but all it took to destroy the Monster World was a subordinate from the Deity of Annihilation. It was hard not to be wary of such a being.
Zu An wanted to ask more about the myriad worlds, but Unblind Zuoqiu said, “The other civilizations of your universe have been destroyed, so there is nothing else for you to learn about. There is also little point in learning about the other universes’ civilizations in advance. You can take a look yourself if there is an opportunity for you to cross universes.”
He took on a solemn tone as he continued, “Brother Zu, you must remember one thing when you travel to other worlds. Learning about secrets comes with risks. Knowing things you shouldn’t know will bring you danger. It’s the same when you leak secrets too.”
“Thank you for your warning, Brother Zuoqiu. I've gotten ahead of myself.” This wasn't the first time Zu An had heard such words. Secrets must be truly dangerous.
“All right, Brother Zu An. I need to take my leave now. May we meet again.” Unblind Zuoqiu clasped his fist as he bade Zu An farewell.
Zu An panicked. “Brother Zuoqiu, shouldn’t you at least tell me where Dreamland is? Didn’t you mention earlier that there are barriers that cannot be crossed between universes?”
Unblind Zuoqiu smacked his head. “Ah, I nearly forgot that you lack common knowledge of the myriad worlds. The barriers between universes are indeed nigh impossible to cross, but there are plenty of adventurers in the myriad worlds who make it their goal to explore the unknown. They have developed a way to cross universe barriers, but I shan’t elaborate on the details.
“The invitation letter you have isn’t for show. Once Dreamland opens, the invitation letters will sense it. All you have to do is to infuse your spiritual energy, immortal ki, chakra... Well, different worlds have different terms for their energy, but they are all fundamentally the same. You just have to use your ki to activate the invitation letter, and a spaceship will come to fetch you.”
“Spaceship? Is it from Dreamland?” Zu An was taken aback.
“No, it’s from a universal commercial organization. Dreamland hires them to fetch their guests. This ensures that anyone with the invitation letter can reach Dreamland without a hitch,” Unblind Zuoqiu explained. He suddenly widened his eyes as he murmured, “Ah! I unknowingly divulged more secrets to you again. No, I can’t stay here any longer, or else I’ll be taking a huge loss!”
Despite Zu An’s attempts to keep him, Unblind Zuoqiu’s figure slowly turned transparent before vanishing into thin air. Zu An was stunned.
Unblind Zuoqiu's hurried departure invited Shang Hongyu to remark, “He seems more like a worshiper of the Deity of Commerce than the Deity of Memories.”
Zu An chuckled. “Perhaps there are rules for exchange in the myriad worlds. Secrets are probably very valuable commodities.”
“Ah Zu, do you truly intend to head there?” Shang Hongyu asked worriedly.
“Yeah. There are far too many people I have to save, and I've already done everything I can in this world. My only option is to seek solutions elsewhere,” Zu An replied.
“But it’ll be dangerous.” Shang Hongyu bit her lip. She was in no mood to get jealous.
“The greater the risks, the greater the rewards.” Zu An grabbed her hand. “Don’t worry, Hongyu. Danger has accompanied me for many years now, but...”
Shang Hongyu placed her finger on his lips as she looked at him with worried eyes. “Never lose your fear of danger.”
Zu An’s heart warmed. He knew she was telling him not to raise any death flags here.
“It’s still too early to say for sure. I don’t know when Dreamland is going to open yet,” he said. The invitation letter had a date, but it followed a different format from that of the Cultivation World.
“How can that Mirror Scribe be so unreliable? He left without properly explaining things,” Shang Hongyu huffed. “The other civilizations likely use a different language, right? How are you going to communicate with them?”
Zu An’s smile stiffened. He had failed to consider this problem earlier. Hm? Hold on. Isn’t it weird I was able to communicate with others in the other worlds I've gone to? Is it because these worlds all fall under the Six Paths? If so, it might not work in other universes.
“Don’t worry. A spaceship is coming to fetch me, so there must be a solution.” Zu An knew that cultivators of a certain level could communicate through certain laws or telepathy, though it wouldn't be as convenient.
“I hope so. Let’s discuss this with my little sister.” Shang Hongyu grabbed his arm. Her little sister was still feeling embarrassed over what had happened two days ago, but this wasn’t the time for her to be feeling awkward.
Zu An nodded as the two of them made their way to the Dragon Palace. On the way, he began chatting with Mi Li, “Big sister empress, are you truly not that Deity of Chaos and Enigma?”
“Are you hoping for it to be me or not?” The red-dressed Mi Li appeared beside him with an unreadable smile. She was a unique being; unless she chose to reveal herself, only Zu An could see her soul.
“Of course I’m hoping it’s you. With such a thick thigh to latch onto in the myriad worlds, I would have nothing to fear!” Zu An laughed.
Mi Li rolled her eyes. “I also hope it’s me, so I can discipline you for that blasphemous thought.”
All of a sudden, however, her expression warped in shock, and she vanished.
While Zu An was wondering what had happened, white lights suddenly lit up around him. Suddenly, he was no longer surrounded by emerald seawater, and Shang Hongyu was nowhere to be seen either. He now seemed to be floating in the middle of space.
What’s going on? I'm this world’s master. How can something ridiculous like this happen when I've already activated the world barrier?
The surrounding white lights converged to form a peculiar pattern, then unprecedentedly tremendous pressure suddenly weighed down on Zu An. He was horrified. He felt as if he was on the verge of being torn apart.
“You want to latch onto my thick thigh?” an impassive voice boomed.
