Chapter 2673: Laying It Out
Chapter 2673: Laying It Out
Black Jing Teng noticed the other two women present and pouted in displeasure, but she quickly changed her expression and coyly nuzzled against Zu An’s chest. “Ah Zu, why don’t you bring them in to play together? I don’t mind it.”
Yun Jianyue was speechless. What do you mean by play?
Pei Mianman was startled. Of all people, Miss Jing has to crack a joke with Sect Master Yun. That’s a bona fide demoness there!
But she quickly remembered that Jing Teng was a sealed demoness herself and chuckled under her breath.
Zu An felt a headache setting in. “Stop messing around. I brought them here to visit Honglei.”
Black Jing Teng huffed. “You still dare to speak about that! Our agreement is for you to occasionally drop by and nourish us if we help you take care of her. We fulfilled our end of the bargain and even gave our house to her, yet you hardly visited us at all.”
Yun Jianyue snorted at Zu An. “Take your time nourishing her. I’ll check on Honglei.”
You have successfully trolled Yun Jianyue for +77... +77... +77...
Pei Mianman rolled her eyes too. “I’ll check on Honglei too.”
You have successfully trolled Pei Mianman for +77... +77... +77...
While Zu An was feeling stressed out, Black Jing Teng visibly turned white.
“Little sister, you’re kicking up a fuss again.” White Jing Teng’s disposition was conspicuously different. She was elegant and dignified, completely unlike the eccentric woman from earlier.
Yun Jianyue and Pei Mianman instinctively halted their footsteps. They knew that the two sisters were sharing a body, but it was still shocking to see it.
White Jing Teng directed a nod at the two women. “Pardon us for earlier. She’s still young and immature. I hope you won’t hold it against her.”
Yun Jianyue and Pei Mianman were rendered speechless. Aren’t you the same age as your little sister? And the two of you are old enough to be our ancestors!
But it didn’t seem appropriate to hold a grudge when White Jing Teng was earnestly apologizing to them, so they replied, “Of course not, Miss Jing.”
Black Jing Teng angrily protested inside, “What do you mean, immature? Those two women are our love rivals! Why are you being so polite to them? We should reveal Yun Jianyue’s affair with Ah Zu and have those two cows fight it out, so we can sit back and reap the benefits.”
They had noticed the intimate interactions between Zu And and Yun Jianyue the last time the latter came to visit Qiu Honglei. It wasn't hard to guess their relationship from that.
White Jing Teng suppressed her little sister’s urge to drop the explosive news, and instead gracefully smiled at the two women. “Come, let me take you to Miss Qiu.”
At the same time, she reasoned with her little sister, “That’s too shallow. They'd soon realize that we were driving a wedge between them. Have you considered how Ah Zu would view us?”
Black Jing Teng was dissatisfied. “Are you going to watch as Ah Zu flirts with them?”
“Why resort to despicable means when we can just watch it play out?” White Jing Teng replied with a mysterious smile. “This is a hidden card that only we know about. We should hold onto it for now.”
Black Jing Teng was taken aback. “Big sister, you’re more evil than me.”
...
Jing Teng led the way. Looking at her graceful gait, Pei Mianman murmured, “That waist and that bum... If I were a man, I wouldn’t be able to stand it.”
Yun Jianyue was worried too. Ah Zu has so many top-notch beauties around him. How can Honglei fend against them alone? Should I lend her a helping hand?
Her face heated up as soon as that thought popped into her mind, and she cursed at herself. Jianyue, when have you become as hypocritical as that stone cold woman? Do you truly intend to help Honglei?
The door to the distant wooden cottage creaked open, and a beautiful figure walked out. “Big sister Jing, Ah Zu...”
Qiu Honglei had been resting when she heard voices outside, so she came out to take a look. Halfway through her greetings, she noticed Yun Jianyue and froze up. “Master...”
Her heart was plunged into turmoil. She didn’t know how to face Yun Jianyue. Should I call her master or big sister?
She had always respected her master, and her master took good care of her too. But whenever she recalled the sight of her master and Zu An getting together above the Lake of Hatred, her heart still hurt.
Pei Mianman was unaware of the tension between the master and disciple. She rushed forward to support Qiu Honglei. “Honglei, you've gotten skinnier. It feels as if you'd topple over in a stiff breeze. Was the food I brought you not to your taste?”
Pei Mianman had accompanied Zu An several times when he visited Qiu Honglei. The two of them knew each other from their time at Brightmoon City. There had been conflicts between them then, but after everything they had been through, those had been long forgotten.
“Manman~” Qiu Honglei grabbed Pei Mianman’s hand and smiled. “I haven’t had much of an appetite recently.”
They had quickly grown closer due to the frequent visits.
“That’s how it is when recovering from an illness. Try going for some bland food first and rest well,” Zu An said.
Qiu Honglei nodded. She knew her master was here too, but she didn’t know how to face her.
Pei Mianman didn’t notice the anomaly between them. “Honglei, Sect Master Yun is here to visit you. She's been here before, but you were still unconscious then.”
Qiu Honglei’s heart quivered. In the end, she called out, “Master~”
She couldn’t talk about her master’s relationship with Ah Zu here, as there were others around.
“Honglei!” Unable to hold herself back anymore, Yun Jianyue embraced Qiu Honglei. “I’m sorry for putting you through so much misery.”
The guilt she had been suppressing for many years poured out, and tears streamed down her cheeks. She believed that if not for her affair with Zu An, her disciple wouldn’t have left the Devil Sect and met with a mishap.
Feeling the moisture on her shoulders, Qiu Honglei remembered the care and concern her master had shown her. Had things gone awry, they might have never met again. That caused her to burst into tears as well. “Master...”
Seeing this, Pei Mianman turned to Zu An and said, “We should give them some space.”
As he knew about the situation between them, Zu An was hesitant.
White Jing Teng nodded too. “It has been a long time since the two of them met. They must have a lot to say to each other. We shouldn’t disturb them.” She took the lead by walking away.
Zu An could only follow suit. He wished Yun Jianyue good luck before leaving as well.
Yun Jianyue felt nervous. She had never been so nervous, not even when she was faced with mountains of corpses and seas of blood, or even Zhao Han. She'd never thought she would be afraid to face her disciple.
The door closed, and the room plunged into silence. The crying master and disciple stepped away from each other and straightened their postures.
It was Yun Jianyue who first broke the silence. “Honglei, I've been worried about you. It’s a relief that Ah Zu found the immortal medicine and saved you.”
“Ah Zu is indeed capable,” Qiu Honglei muttered. “How else could he have won your heart?”
