Chapter 2860: A Deity’s Death

Zu An frowned. What could those words mean? The First Elder has committed suicide. The Fourth Elder has died. The Second Elder and the Sixth Elder have defected to the Annihilation faction. The Fifth Elder is nowhere to be found.

That leaves only Isabella’s father and the Seventh Elder to guard the Conglomerate. Have they defected to other factions as well?

Meanwhile, the Conqueror King was chasing after Li Zicheng because he was more worried about the latter’s reproduction power. Given enough time, Li Zicheng could generate an endless army of soldiers.

To corner Li Zicheng, the Conqueror King divided his army into several platoons to encircle Li Zicheng’s troops. Zu An led one of the platoons.

Tang Tian’er had once been a part of Li Zicheng’s faction, so she was well aware of how they moved. It didn’t take long for her to find Li Zicheng’s whereabouts.

She was also worried about the situation, so she secretly looked for Zu An and said, “Big brother Zu, you should know that a bow becomes useless once all the birds have been hunted down. If the Annihilation faction eliminates all its enemies, we'll become useless to them.”

Zu An sighed. “The tides are no longer on our side. Do you think we can turn the tables around even if we aid Li Zicheng or Southern Ming?”

Tang Tian’er shook her head. They could buy time, but they wouldn’t be able to stop the Annihilation faction’s advance. But that only made her even more panicked.

Zu An stroked her head and said, “Don’t worry. Things aren’t as simple as you imagine.”

Tang Tian’er smiled. “Forget it. Nothing else is important as long as you’re here with me.”

Eventually, Li Zicheng’s remnant army was surrounded and cornered at Hubei’s Jiugong Mountain. There was finally nowhere for Li Zicheng to escape to.

The Conqueror King personally led a ferocious assault against Li Zicheng, but he surprisingly suffered huge losses. It was only when Zu An arrived at the scene and saw the terrifying sight that he finally understood why the Conqueror King was struggling.

Li Zicheng should still have had tens of thousands of troops left, but his soldiers had vanished, having transformed into a field of flesh and blood that covered the entirety of Jiugong Mountain. He had turned the mountain into a fortress of flesh. It devoured Annihilation soldiers and used them as nutrients to expand further.

Just looking at it could erode one’s sanity.

The Conqueror King finally got serious. With a wave of his hand, he unleashed a fiery meteor storm upon Jiugong Mountain.

The Annihilation faction specialized in destroying worlds.

Each of the Conqueror King’s meteors contained sufficient destructive prowess to destroy a world. When they smashed into the flesh mountain, it shook violently, and the charred smell of flesh and blood filled the air.

Under the relentless bombardment of meteors, the flesh mountain shattered. No new meat could grow on it anymore.

Then, the Conqueror King took out a flag, and a pitch-black chariot appeared beneath him. Countless black soldiers appeared out of thin air around him.

This had to be the Conqueror King’s unique ability. Zu An had seen the Monster World’s War Priest using a similar ability. These soldiers were manifested from the void, so they weren't affected by the Reproduction power’s assimilation trait.

Feeling the immense pressure coming from the battlefield, Zu An suddenly felt as if his fight with the War Priest had merely been a squabble between two bumpkin villages.

The Conqueror King’s black army charged onto Jiugong Mountain and laid waste to the remaining flesh. The previously blood-red mountain turned completely black, except for one tiny section on the mountaintop beside an old tree.

Zu An took another look—that turned out not to be a mere tree, but Li Zicheng’s body.

Li Zicheng had fused with the old tree, and countless tendrils flailed menacingly around him. Even when the black soldiers hacked down some of the tendrils, more sprouted out right after.

Li Zicheng knew he was cornered, so he was determined to inflict as much as damage as he could to the Conqueror King before going down. If he could drag the Conqueror King down with him, his life wouldn’t have been in vain.

Black light and bloody light clashed on the mountaintop, and a furious storm brewed. Just the shockwaves that emanated were enough to reap the lives of the Annihilation soldiers, so they hurriedly retreated a safe distance away.

Zu An made use of this opening to sneak onto the mountain. His trail was covered by the shockwaves produced by the clash of two top-notch experts. It was a huge relief that he had absorbed Dissonant Melody’s cultivation, or else he wouldn’t have lasted long here.

A furious roar suddenly echoed from the eye of the storm. “You despicable scum, Annihilation Progenitor! We agreed to cooperate against the Order faction, but you turned your back against me as soon as the deed was done!”

Zu An was startled. That wasn’t Li Zicheng’s voice. It carried divinity unique to only the universal deities. Could the one who had just spoken be the Deity of Reproduction?

Is the Deity of Annihilation’s name the Annihilation Progenitor? Why does that name sound weirdly familiar to me?

Another cold voice replied, “You were too foolish, Shang.”

Zu An’s mind shook. That voice carried the will of destruction, such that even top experts from the Myriad Worlds could go berserk upon hearing it.

Just then, Zu An’s Time Annal and Annals of History emanated gentle surges of energy to protect him. If not for the artifacts of the two universal deities, he would have been discovered.

Who could have thought that there were universal deities possessing the Conqueror King and Li Zicheng?

The Deity of Annihilation should have only descended into the Conqueror King’s body recently, or else he would have blasted me to bits when I was dealing with Dissonant Melody.

“Are you planning to kill me while I’m trapped in Li Zicheng’s body?” the Deity of Reproduction roared in anger.

“It would have been difficult to kill you under any other circumstances. You’re immortal as long as you have a single clone left. It’s a pity that you let your guard down this time, descending into Li Zicheng’s body. How could I let such an opportunity slip through my fingers?”

“I understand. You want to destroy everything, including us universal deities. How are you different from Death?”

“Don’t compare Death to me! They wanted to implement the system of reincarnation. What a joke! That isn’t death at all. Everything in the Myriad Worlds will eventually be reduced to dust!”

“You lunatic! Once I tell the others about this, you’ll suffer the same fate as Death!”

“Do you think you can leave?”

“We’re equally matched. I’m not afraid of you.”

“That might have been true in the past, but I just assimilated that fool, Order. You’re trapped in my cage now. You aren’t a match for me.”

“What? That’s impossible!”

“Like you, Order sensed that his worshipers were struggling in this world, so he descended into the body of the First Elder, hoping to understand what was going on. Little did he know that I was waiting for him.”
