Chapter 166 - Poor Zhang Yufang Can't Even Rejoice For A Bit.
Licking up her favourite ice cream, Chen Yi fished out a few of the delicacies and ordered the shop owner to wrap them.
"Wait, make sure to double pack it. And use something that the covering is not see-through. Yup and the packing should be airtight too, we don't want any scent wafting off."
The shopkeeper gave Chen Yi a weird look.
At this, she explained patiently. "It's a surprise for children in an orphanage. I don't want them to pick on the scent and ruin the suppose."
Apparently, the guy bought onto her lie and proceeded with the packing.
He didn't even cast a single questioning glance at the tremendous amount Chen Yi bought.
He was even kind enough to give her a discount.
"Mam, if the kids enjoy the sweets, feel free to visit our shop anytime. We would offer you a twenty per cent discount."
"Sure, sure! The kids would love your pastries." Chen Yi said this with a sweet smile but in her mind, she thought. Love your ass! Those monsters had already had their fill munching and gobbling down the last sack of pastries she painstakingly selected for herself. Now it was her time to enjoy. No way would she let Li Luxian or his orphanage kids steal away her babies!
Looking down at the package in her hand, Chen Yi couldn't help but feel she had got a bit carried away. It was heavier than she had originally intended to. Anyhow, none of its ingredients she could bear to part with.
Hopefully, Zhang Yufang wouldn't notice her smuggling it back to the Li family household.
She would just bribe Li Yuan to hide it away from the devil's eyes.
Paying the charges, Chen Yi marched out. Conveniently navigating through the labyrinth, she found her way back to the car. Finding it empty and abandoned, she was lost.
"Where did he go now? Don't tell me..." that he followed her outsides and lost himself in the alleys? Chen Yi face twitched, she didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Anyhow, waiting here out in the dark and cold when she wasn't feeling well didn't feel pleasing.
Chen Yi considered breaking the lock and driving herself back.
But what would Zhang Yufang do?
This area didn't have signals.
She thought for a while then decided.
Who cared? Who asked him to disobey him?
Just as her hand landed on the door, something shifted behind her.
Chen Yi eyes widened and at the last moment, she shifted sideways timely evading a deadly strike on her head.
Well, not necessarily deadly.
But that would have sure knocked her out.
Since it was dark, it was difficult to see the man's features. "Who are you?!" Chen Yi fixed her eyes on a dark silhouette. Soon, another two silhouettes emerged from the sides and cornered Chen Yi.
Dressed in black, face covered in masks, chains hanging down the necks, tattoos, bulging muscles and everything. Their looks could be passed for the generic 'bad guys' going around in the streets.
At a distance, Chen Yi also noticed a Vigo parked in. "Oh, so you guys had indeed been following me. My hunch wasn't wrong after all."
"If you don't want to be hurt, quietly come with us." One of them said in a gruff tone.
Chen Yi lips lifted up and she laughed. "Sure! But first, tell me who sent you?"
The three men felt that this girl behaviour was somewhat odd. If there was anyone else in her position, she would have been frozen speechless in fright. She would have panicked and attempted to run away, scream for help and whatnot.
Anyhow, they could only assume this girl was stupidly brave.
"It seems you don't like easygoing methods." The one closest to her leapt forward and aimed at her arm. Chen Yi stepped back and nimbly evaded.
"You...! Grab her!"
A man came from behind her. Despite her eyes forward, Chen Yi sensed him timely and merely ducked down and the man's hand only grabbed onto empty air.
This continued for at least ten minutes.
Then men would approach her, corner her and make a move to grab her. Like a nimble, slithery snake she would find an opening and slip away. While the three of them ran about wildly, heaving in and out for breath, there wasn't the slightest hitch in her breathing as she played them like clowns.
She didn't even attempt to run away.
"Fucking bitch!"
"There there, no need to be disrespectful. Didn't I tell you before? Just tell me who sent you and I'll follow you."
It was at that time when a spark flared.
Chen Yi eyes changed colours, a man had taken out a knife and it had reflected off the light.
The play would get serious now.
Just then, a hand reached out from a corner. Distracted by the knife, Chen Yi didn't notice. Taking advantage of her negligence, the man managed to approach dangerously close. Chen Yi still managed to evade but the man's hand got onto her package.
Taking it back with a jerk, it tore open and all the pastries scattered around, ruined beyond recovery.
"You...!" This time, his action hit a nerve. A never that could only President Li could hit nd escape alive.
As if it wasn't enough, the man stomped forward and smashed the pastries into crumbles. "What rubbish is this? With the way she was clenching onto this, I thought it must be something precious."
When he looked up, the eyes shooting down at him were somewhat... scary.
...
Zhang Yufang had never been tortured this much.
Ask him to fight off a hundred men alone and he would do that.
Keep him from sleeping for ten days to keep watch on the enemy and he would gladly do that.
But this? Aimlessly circling the same alleys again and again till he was driven to the verge of madness? This kind of torture was too inhuman!
In the end, he had tears running down his face.
In desperation, he took off his coat and tore it into pieces with his bare teeth.
This time as he walked, every ten steps he would leave a small piece of cloth. In this way, he at least managed to not take the path he had already walked through. It took time, but finally, he walked a path he had kept ignoring all along. This time, he made it out.
Finally out of that hell, he felt like tearing open his shirt and screaming to the sky.
But the view before him terminated all the happiness before he could even start rejoicing.
