Chapter 293 – Alexander Bishop, Cassandra of Patience, Cassius Desdemona

After the little incident with Widow slapping Copycat’s hands away, they resumed their journey back to the Academy.

However, Copycat, ever the troublemaker — if we could even call it that — proposed enjoying the few hours they had left before heading back.

Knowing the coming days would be tiring, and most certainly too busy for them to see each other easily, they decided to accept his offer.

Still, they were smart enough — or rather, Cassandra proposed — to submit the completion of their mission through the Academy’s Hall of Missions application.

None of them dared report the full extent of the damage they’d caused. So they wisely left that information out.

But it turned out to be pointless anyway.

An hour after their submission, they each received a notification stating they’d lost 20,000 EP.

A number even the top 10, save for the top 3, would struggle to recover.

Copycat lost his temper, cursing and threatening to kill The Watcher’s Eye.

Cassandra said nothing, though her expression hardened. Cassius thought he heard her mutter, "How am I supposed to enjoy expensive wine now? Should I start bullying people for EP like Lucian and Lilien?"

Cassius’s lips twitched at the mention of his siblings. Their reputations really had hit rock bottom.

One thing was certain, though, after losing this much EP, all three were now far more willing to issue and accept challenges.

The Last Born took a different approach. He quietly pulled out his phone and sent a message to his Aunt Seraphim,

"> <lovely aunt, I hope this heartfelt message finds you well and busy torturing some poor soul. Your favorite nephew has pitifully found himself broke, thanks to some bastards. Could you bless his soul and send him some EP to survive on?>

His aunt replied faster than anything. Instantly, even.

"> <My pretty baby!!! I miss you and your pretty face! Yes, your message caught me mid-torture on a poor boy. No mercy for him. Anyway, who exactly are these bastards? Just tell me, I’ll handle them! And don’t worry, I already sent the EP! Ask me for anything!>

True to her word, right after her reply, Cassius received 40,000 EP.

He smiled, warm, grateful, and more than a little smug. His aunt hadn’t hesitated for a second, and that reminded him of something.

He still had one Beauty Potion left. The first two had gone to his mother and his wife.

At first, he’d planned to give the last one to his grandmother, Morenna. Cassius loved her and wanted her to stay eternally young.

But in the end, his Aunt Seraphim was the only real choice.

"> <Thanks, aunt! As a thank you, I’ll send you a gift. Hope you like it.>

He tucked his phone away afterward and turned his attention to the two Palatines still grumbling under their breath.

Cassius, of course, didn’t let the moment go to waste.

He gloated openly about his newfound wealth and mocked the two of them mercilessly.

The young Desdemona nearly got ganged up on by both Palatines in retaliation.

The rest of the day passed like that: restaurants, a spa for massages, and finally a park to unwind, fresh air brushing past their ears.

By the time they made it back to the Academy, night had already claimed the sky. The sun sank somewhere unknown, and the moon rose to take its place.

Cassius briefly wondered what happened to the White Phoenix once night fell.

But he shook the thought off as he stood on the top floor of the Hades Building alongside Copycat and Drunken Widow.

"Quite the day." Cassius said, smiling softly, "You two aren’t so bad. Especially you, Copycat, I was ready to come down hard on you, soon enough."

"Me?" Copycat tilted his head, "For what?"

Cassius’s expression darkened slightly, "A member of your class — someone you’re apparently quite close with, I’d say — killed someone I’d come to respect and care for."

Instantly, Drunken Widow’s mind flashed back to that rainy night when she’d seen Cassius burying someone.

’...oh, so that’s what that was.’ She thought, glancing at Copycat.

"Who killed who?" He asked, his voice suddenly sharper. In that instant, the true face everyone associated with Palatine Copycat resurfaced.

"There’s no need to do anything to her, I already handled it." Cassius said, "But I’ll tell you anyway. Naomi Holloway killed Coco Jones."

"That bitch again?" Copycat growled, veins bulging on his forehead.

"I heard she was your girlfriend." Cassius said.

Cassandra’s eyebrows narrowed slightly as she glanced at Copycat.

"For fun." Copycat said lazily, running a hand through his hair. His jaw tightened. His blind eye throbbed again. "Just like any of the women I’ve taken under me. All for fun. Nothing serious."

"For fun, huh." Cassandra murmured, disdain thick in her voice.

"Hey, don’t look at me like that. You’re different, Widow." Copycat said, "You’re depressing and annoying, but that’s part of your charm."

"Watch your mouth, gigolo." Cassandra snapped. "I’ll never be in a relationship. And even if I wanted one, it wouldn’t be with you."

"Then I hope whoever you do choose is stronger than me." Copycat said with a cold smile.

Cassandra’s eyes turned even colder. "Gigolo." She cursed.

Cassius chuckled, "Well, great chemistry over here." He turned to Copycat, "Anyway, please, don’t touch Naomi if you can help it. Let Cripple handle it."

"Cripple? The one Naomi tore his eyes out for, because he loved another girl instead of her?"

"What?" Cassius said, eyes widening, "She did that? And after knowing that, you still took her under you?"

Cassandra’s expression twisted with disgust the more she learned.

"Don’t judge me." Copycat shrugged, "It was interesting, seeing that kind of cruelty firsthand."

"You’re insane." Cassius said.

"Aren’t we all?"

"Not to that degree." Cassius shook his head.

The three talked a while longer, Cassandra mostly staying quiet, only speaking up to threaten Copycat with death if he ever asked for her number again.

Yet she gave it to Cassius. Copycat looked at Cassius with pleading, puppy-dog eyes.

Cassius simply smiled back at him like a seasoned con artist. The second-year Palatine understood instantly he’d have to pay for it somehow.

’This bastard. Angel, my fucking ass!’

Cassandra noticed too, and said nothing.

Cassius was behaving exactly as she’d expected.

At the end, as the three finally prepared to head into their own rooms, Copycat spoke up one last time,

"Ah, didn’t you ask who we are, Sucker? I forgot to properly introduce myself." He said, smiling, his blind eye glinting strangely, "I’m Alexander Bishop of the Bishop Family, youngest and only son of Rose Bishop."

"Cassandra of Patience." Cassandra followed, "Eldest and only daughter of the Third Knight of the Deathless Crusaders, Widow of the Goddess."

"Cassius Desdemona," Cassius said, "Last Born of the Desdemona."

The three exchanged glances, then, with faint smiles,

"Nice to meet you." They said in unison.

And just like that, Monday came to an end.
