Chapter 329 – Seraphim’s Hood Monstrous Beauty

After stepping out of Teacher Newton’s research room, Theophane walked through the building, intending to take the runic elevator, go down to the lowest floor of the Tower, and return to her room.

However, every time she thought about the person she was sharing the room with, Theophane couldn’t help but feel a weary sensation spreading through her body.

It seemed like she must soon find a way to enter the top 10.

’It has become difficult to act like I am a tool since I became consciously aware that I can feel like anyone else.’ She thought, her steps making no audible sound as she passed office after office. ’I don’t know if I can do this much longer. Should I find another way based on my current situation?’

It looked to her like it was time to change her way of operating.

’I also need to increase my strength. Even though I will die if I attempt to rank up to the Third Rank, I can still reach the very limit of the Imbued Rank.’

Every time she thought about her death at the Third Rank, Theophane couldn’t help but feel a deep ocean of anger and hate churning inside her heart.

Her life was cut short just like that.

It had been 18 years now, and she still couldn’t accept the fact that she had no future to speak of.

’I hate this.’ Theophane thought, standing in front of the runic elevator, pressing the button to open it, then waiting. ’I hate both the Blessed and the Goddess. And I hate the Blessed even more, because he is enjoying a life stolen from me.’

The Forbidden Seer clenched her fist tightly, exhaling deeply, just in time for the runic elevator to yawn open.

She lifted her leg to step forward, only to halt abruptly, her white eyes transfixed on the inside of the runic elevator, her eyes growing wide.

Inside the elevator stood a woman.

She wore a black and red training suit, a sleeveless black shirt that left her entire arms, even her shoulders, completely visible.

The shirt only covered her breasts, leaving her stomach adorned with stunning abs to bless the world.

Her pants were equally black with faint red stripes, hugging her lower body in such a perfect and sensual way that it felt like the pants themselves were men thirsting for a woman.

Her crimson hair was long and pulled into a big knot overhead, like a chignon, held together by a small crimson dagger. Her eyes were of the same shade, crimson, boiling like an ocean of blood set aflame.

Then came her face, and Theophane drew in a shaky breath, her heart dangerously speeding up.

The woman’s face was full of scars, twisted and ugly scars that could frighten anyone, yet those same scars on that face made it so imposingly beautiful.

She looked like the epitome of suffering and pain, bearing the scars of the whole world on her body with courage and pride.

Not only her face, Theophane noticed. Her entire arms, and even her stomach, were filled with those same scars.

She was, literally, a map of scars that made one wonder how she had gotten all of them.

But Theophane couldn’t think about that as the woman spoke, raising an eyebrow on her beautiful scarred face.

"What are you waiting for?" She said in a harsh tone. "I have some bastard to torture. Get inside or move away, will you?"

Theophane regained her senses upon hearing the impatience in her tone, shaking her head. And that was when she finally recognized the woman in front of her.

"...Head Teacher Seraphim?" The White Seer whispered in deep surprise. "Is that you?"

"Who else?" Sera said. "And this is the last time I’m asking whether you’re getting in or not, Theophane Celeste."

Theophane rapidly regained herself and stepped inside the runic elevator, standing at the far end, inwardly wondering just what was happening to her.

She had never felt so flustered before. And that, to add, in front of a woman.

’What is going on? No, that’s not the question!’ She peeked at Seraphim from the corner of her eye. ’How did she become so beautiful? No, beautiful is not the right term. She feels like the perfect personification of someone hurt by the world, yet who still continues to strive forward.’

That was exactly what pierced Theophane’s heart. For someone like her, abandoned by the world over and over again, alone with no one to call a friend or even family, seeing Head Teacher Seraphim felt like the world itself was speaking to her.

As if, in front of her, she had the model she could follow.

However...

’She’s a Hood.’ Theophane shivered inside her heart. ’She is my enemy. Get a grip on yourself, Theophane.’

"You are staring at me a little bit too intensely, I think." Sera said, looking at Theophane. "What? Do you think I’m disgusting with my scars, or beautiful?"

Theophane looked at her but didn’t answer. Her emotions were too all over the place for her to trust herself enough to open her mouth.

Sera smiled coldly then. "Not answering is a day inside the House of Sanctions. You know me, don’t you? I have a special talent for making people who don’t want to talk, talk."

Her smile widened.

"You can ask your friend, Omar Ibn Omar, for confirmation."

Theophane’s eyes widened slightly, recalling that event, before they became slightly cold.

"Attempted rape, huh?" She finally spoke, remembering what Omar had been accused of. "You truly expect us to believe that, Head Teacher?"

"You believed it enough for me to drag him into my House." She replied. "That’s more than enough."

"You are using your power and authority for personal reasons, Head Teacher."

"Is that so?"

"Yes—!"

BAAAAMMMMM!!!!!

Theophane’s eyes dilated with staggering pain as her back crashed into the wall, precious air knocked out of her lungs.

She fixed her trembling eyes on the monstrously beautiful face of Head Teacher Seraphim, feeling her throat being squeezed by her cold yet soft hand, one that clearly knew how to strangle after years of torture.

"I wonder," Sera’s crimson eyes were deeply cold, filled with hidden, murderous, madness-filled intent, "who or what gave you the courage to speak to me like this, little girl?"

"Ahhh...Ahhh..." Theophane struggled to speak, her throat held tightly by Sera’s merciless grip.

"Speak or I will crush your fucking throat." Sera threatened, and she actually squeezed tighter, causing cracking sounds to boom through the silent runic elevator.

Theophane realized that this crazy Head Teacher was serious. Once again, she cursed the fact that she didn’t have combat skills.

At that instant, her mind and emotions were so mangled that she was unable to think properly.

The White Seer was completely caught off guard.

So she gritted her teeth, forcing out hoarse words with all her strength. "I...I am sorry, Head Teacher!"

At those words, Sera finally let go of Theophane’s throat, making the student fall to the floor, breathing heavily.

Sera looked down at her, her crimson eyes like those of a demon from hell, her face cold. "Know your place." She said, before crouching down, eye to eye with Theophane. "It’s not because you are beautiful that you can allow yourself whatever you want. Do you think your beauty affects me?"

She smiled murderously.

"One more misstep in front of me, and I shall welcome you into my House."

It was at that exact moment that the door of the runic elevator opened, finally reaching the lowest floor.

Sera stood up again, sparing one last glance at Theophane on the ground before pivoting and walking away, her very presence wrapping around the world around her, as if the world itself was giving her special attention.

She was, simply, that uniquely, monstrously beautiful.

’Huff...hufff...’ Theophane was still down by the time Sera was nowhere in sight. She lifted her hand and touched her throat, and instantly had the sensation that she could feel Head Teacher’s hand on her again.

She sucked in a deep breath, trying to control her stomping, huffing, screaming heart.

"First the Goddess, next the Blessed, now the aunt." Theophane muttered, eyes cold. "I will slaughter this whole family. Just wait."

She pushed herself up again and trotted forward, out of the runic elevator, her back still hurting, her throat still aching, and her heart only growing angrier.

Yet amidst all these feelings of pain and vengeance, at the back of her mind, Theophane was unable to get the face and body of Head Teacher Seraphim out of her head.

And once again, she asked herself...

’How did she become so beautiful?’
