Chapter 345 – Another Kiss

The call ended soon after, and Esmeray sat there with a smile on her face, looking blankly at her phone.

She knew what she was doing was wrong and frowned upon. She knew that once her family learned of this, they’d stop at nothing to separate her from Dorian... she knew all of that, yet she didn’t care.

"I’m alive," Esmeray muttered to herself, closing her eyes as if savoring the very feeling of finally being... alive.

To smile freely, joke freely, do whatever she wanted without struggling to rein in her devouring lust.

No one could ever understand what it was to live with a lust that just refused to settle down. You became consumed by it, unable to do anything but seek sex, pleasure yourself, and that on bloody repeat.

Esmeray couldn’t help but wonder what kind of woman she could have been if she hadn’t been born with such a curse.

Just who, then, would Esmeray Hood be?

That was a question no one could ever answer. And she preferred it that way, because she loved who she was now.

"Now the curse is being slowly broken away, and I’m finally the master of my own body and mind." She lowered her head, looking at a picture of Dorian she’d taken while he was busy making a call.

Her smile widened.

"Just like any Desdemona, he’s really handsome. His eyes... I love his eyes," she whispered to herself. "He reminds me of my mother’s eyes. Maybe that’s why."

In any case, Esmeray was happy Dorian had finally acknowledged the situation they were in.

Now they were together in this hell. And that alone made her feel like nothing could stop them.

She laughed again, but her smile froze instantly when a number called her phone.

It was her brother, Raven.

Instinctively, Esmeray began to fear the worst, anxiety and fear slithering into her heart.

She shook her head rapidly, then exhaled to calm herself.

"Focus, Esmeray. Your brother can’t possibly know. Only you and Dorian know, and he’ll never tell a soul."

Repeating those words over and over, the princess began to calm down, allowing her to pick up the call just before Raven ended it.

"What were you doing that made you so late to answer?" Raven asked instantly, sounding slightly nervous.

"I was in the bathroom," Esmeray lied. "What’s the matter, though? It’s not like you to call me. You usually prefer texting."

"I can’t tell you what I’m about to tell you over text," Raven replied, in a tense, serious tone.

Esmeray remained calm and asked, "What is it?"

"I’m with Anesthesia now," the Prince of Death answered, in the most matter-of-fact tone imaginable.

Esmeray’s mind froze for a heartbeat, completely taken aback by the revelation. She regained her composure immediately after, yet her surprise didn’t disappear.

"This must be a fucking joke." She waited, but when Raven didn’t answer for a couple of seconds, "Are you serious?"

"I am," Raven said. "What? A problem with that?"

"No, I mean... I... I simply didn’t expect it." Esmeray’s frown deepened slowly. "I thought you were smart enough to choose Sarah and not that bloody witch."

"She’s not—!"

"Oh, come on, brother! She’s a witch!" Esmeray cut him off, her hands flying around. "You already know that. And you know what witches do to poor, clueless, innocent men like you? They devour them."

"This isn’t a joke, Esmeray."

"You think I’m joking?"

"You really don’t like this relationship?" Raven asked slowly.

"You want me to lie or tell the truth?"

"The truth, of course. I’m not delusional like you."

"I don’t like it," Esmeray said directly, without mercy, "However, brother, if she’s the one who completes you, the one who makes you feel more alive and willing to push yourself..."

She smiled faintly.

"...then I’m happy for you."

Raven smiled in relief. "Thanks. I didn’t know what I’d do if you were against it."

"You’re too soft to be a king. Shall I start a revolution and snatch the throne?" she snickered.

"Don’t let Aunt Sera hear you," Raven chuckled, then, "Anyway, that was all I wanted to say. I’m feeling better now, Esmeray. I can feel myself pulling together slowly. You’re the only one left."

’If only you knew, brother.’

But it was the perfect moment for her to ask something she’d always wanted to ask.

"For me, brother," she licked her lips, falling back onto the bed, looking at the ceiling, "what if I wanted to be with someone I’m not supposed to be with?"

"Hm?" Raven exclaimed through the phone, and Esmeray could hear his eyebrows knitting together. "Can you be more precise about the ’not supposed to be with’ part?"

"Let’s say it’s forbidden." Her heart was in her throat by then.

"Forbidden in what sense?"

"Raven, just fucking answer, okay!" she snapped.

"Calm down, sister. Hm..." the prince pondered seriously, "...I mean, as long as you’re satisfied and no one in our family is harmed... why should I mind?"

Esmeray grinned widely. "Don’t forget these words, brother. If you deny them later on, I’ll never forgive you. Now go back to your witch, and don’t forget to kneel and apologize to Sarah. She deserves that much."

"I’m on my way to tell her," his voice was shaky, "I’m actually freaking out, sister."

"You bet you fucking are!"

"I hope she’ll forgive me."

Esmeray smiled wryly at that. "I love you, and you’re my brother, however..."

She shook her head.

"...I hope she hates you. You deserve it."

Raven grumbled, "Just shut up. I don’t need this right now."

He hung up immediately after, clearly annoyed.

Esmeray shrugged nonchalantly, smiling.

"Raven is with Anesthesia, and I’m with Dorian. One is a hypocritical bitch who can use anyone for her own gain. The other is a sex god who’s slept with more than half the married women in the kingdom." She shook her head, getting up. "Our family is never going to get better. We’re getting worse."

And strangely...

"...I’m loving it. Let’s be all damned."

Her eyes curved sinisterly as she walked out of her room.

She needed to take a mission outside the Academy to see Dorian.

"I wonder how many rounds we’ll go this time."

...

"How many rounds are we on right now, my dear?" Theophane said with a gentle, lovely smile.

She was, in all honesty, dangerously beautiful.

She was in Tiger’s room, a room he normally shared with Omar Ibn Omar. But since the latter was imprisoned, he was now alone.

The perfect place to torture someone.

And that was exactly what Theophane Celeste was doing.

She sat on a wooden chair, relaxed, wearing a spotless white robe clinging to her body perfectly. Her white and golden hair was pulled into a messy chignon, letting her white eyes shine brightly in the shaky darkness.

In front of her, kneeling, was a woman with golden hair and blue eyes: the characteristic features of the Stormblessed family.

Her face was a mess of tears and blood, half her teeth knocked out. Her body was completely weakened by the poison Theophane had injected into her mouth when the woman kissed her.

A foolish move.

The woman was named Coumba Stormblessed, a third-year, and among the weakest.

She liked women, and she’d liked Theophane for her stunning, celestial beauty. Her lust had brought her to this situation.

"My dear, please, don’t make me waste time," Theophane said in a sweet tone, "otherwise your head will end up inside the mouth of the hungry tiger behind you."

Whimpering, Coumba looked fearfully behind her and saw Tiger Woods staring down at her with cold, beastly eyes.

It was obvious he’d kill her without hesitation if Theophane gave the order.

The fear grew inside her heart.

"What... what do you want?" she asked Theophane slowly, crying, choking on her own saliva.

"You know what I want," Theophane said. "I’ve been repeating myself since the beginning, and I’m growing weary, dear. So this is the last time I’m asking you, Coumba, my dear, so hear me well..."

She leaned forward, her cold white eyes settling on Coumba’s trembling blue ones,

"...my eyes told me something, Coumba. In a vision, in a dream, in whatever you want to call it," she smiled emptily, "you know how to sneak into the Stormblessed house."

Coumba trembled, and trembled even more when Theophane’s eyes began to glow, as if a whole cosmos were inside them.

"Tell me how, lovely dear, and I’ll give you another kiss."
