Unrest spread visibly among the staff, eventually reaching upper management. When that unrest transformed into anxiety and then commotion, those gathered finally seemed to understand what was happening.
Middle management frantically gave instructions to subordinates. As far as Kousuke could hear, they did not know the cause of the malfunction.
However, Kousuke was more concerned about the gazes directed at him. In large facilities, especially during first operations, such failures were common. He had no intention of saying anything about it.
But he fully understood that those gathered felt compelled to avoid failure with him present.
Just as Towa’s close associates seemed about to speak, Kousuke looked at Towa. He was asking for confirmation, asking if it was alright to intervene.
Towa correctly interpreted that silent gaze and nodded. If they declared this a failure, someone might lose their job. Neither Kousuke nor Towa wanted that.
“Isnani.”
When Kousuke spoke that name, the room fell silent.
Despite feeling inwardly nervous, Kousuke looked at Isnani, who’d been busily working until now.
“Y-yes!”
“Have you participated in a pre-operation test before?”
“N-no. I’m sorry. I haven’t.”
Kousuke waved his hand at Isnani’s bow. “That’s fine. You must be busy. Anyway, have you done any integration tests?”
He deliberately did not specify which part of the integration test. But it seemed enough. Isnani’s expression suddenly changed as she approached a nearby stack of documents and pulled out a single sheet.
After examining it thoroughly, Isnani sighed. “It seems like it wasn’t done.”
“Well, judging by the looks of things, that seems to be the case.”
Kousuke nodded as Towa, listening to their exchange, interjected.
“Does the living god know the reason why it’s not working?”
“Ah, well, probably.”
Kousuke answered, though he already knew exactly why. Isnani probably did too.
The gazes around them had changed to pleading, but Kousuke couldn’t act rashly. He thought to himself that he was in a troublesome position, then looked at Towa with a meaningful gaze.
This time, too, Towa seemed to understand accurately.
“Then, what is the reason?”
“The configuration of the Magic Circle is wrong.”
“Huh?”
Towa involuntarily questioned the answer.
“Hmm. It would be faster to show you than explain verbally… Can I go over there?”
Kousuke pointed to the control seat that managed everything in the facility, specifically the operational status of all Magic Circles used.
“P-please.”
The staff member sitting there, looking pale while checking the system, quickly vacated the seat.
After confirming with Towa, Kousuke moved there and began working.
Less than a minute after he started, the watching staff member turned pale as Kousuke delved into the system’s core at an impossibly fast speed, effortlessly overcoming barriers that should have been in place.
No wonder they looked bewildered. This was a collection of Magic Circles powering a massive facility. Grasping everything alone should have been practically impossible by any reasonable standard.
To them, Kousuke performing this seemingly impossible task must have looked divine.
Ignoring the astonishment around him, Kousuke steadily continued checking the Magic Circles. He was not meticulously examining everything, but investigating the specific area he had already identified as problematic.
“Ah, there it is. This is it.”
He pointed out the problem to Isnani, who’d come to stand beside him.
“Yeah. This won’t work.”
Isnani confirmed and nodded. The area Kousuke indicated was where systems handling Divine Power and Magic Power interconnected. The staff, who didn’t understand how to handle Divine Power, couldn’t reasonably be expected to notice this mistake.
If someone like Isnani had tested it beforehand, they would have at least noticed the problem, even if they couldn’t fix it. Then they could have secretly asked Kousuke to fix that part.
But that was all hindsight now.
Since he was already on-site with direct system access, Kousuke decided to fix it immediately.
“Hmm…” Muttering to himself, he made various adjustments to the Magic Circles. He was not just fixing one spot, but the connected parts as well. Normally such a fix wouldn’t be easy, but Kousuke managed it effortlessly.
If any members had questioned him, he would have answered, “It’s just experience,” but no one commented. Everyone simply thought, ‘As expected of a God.’
Of everyone present, only Isnani, standing beside him, accurately understood the work. The others couldn’t keep up because it was too fast, and even if they’d understood the work itself, they wouldn’t have fully comprehended it without understanding Divine Power.
“Okay… that should do it.”
After adjusting the concerning parts, Kousuke looked at Isnani. Receiving his gaze, she nodded, though the modifications were so extensive they could be called a complete overhaul.
The staff in charge were pale, but unfortunately, Kousuke didn’t notice.
After one final check, he looked at Towa. “I think it’s okay this time, so try activating it.”
Upon hearing that, Towa immediately looked at the staff member in charge, and they proceeded to activate the facility again.
This time, unlike before, the staff members’ expressions made clear the facility was operating normally. They were bright, unlike the gloomy expressions from before.
Kousuke stayed until the activation process ended, and after confirming it worked, he rose and returned to his original position.
Applause erupted when the facility’s operation was confirmed. It was just that this time, it was all directed at Kousuke. He had changed the gloomy situation in just tens of minutes.
However, Kousuke, receiving the applause, was inwardly writhing with embarrassment.
As if sensing his inner feelings, Towa stood and gestured for quiet. After the applause subsided, he made the announcement originally planned.
“With this, the Magic Power supply facility has officially commenced full operation. From now on, this facility will be of vital importance to the nation. I ask that each of you perform your duties with a sense of responsibility.”
With these words, the first Magic Power supply facility, which would later spread throughout the world along with Crown, officially began operation.
Incidentally, what Kousuke did was kept under strict secrecy, with a gag order placed on everyone present, making it top secret information.
