Olivia Lewis glanced back at him, batted her beautiful eyes, and touched her chin, saying, "I also think it isn’t yours. If the child in her belly is yours, I’ll pack you up and send you to her."
She spoke in a joking tone, but Adam Sinclair found no relief in her joke; instead, it felt like someone punched him in the chest, leaving him breathless. "Would you bear to?"
Olivia raised an eyebrow, her beauty playful and sly, "It’s alright. Even if I can’t bear to, I can’t be a mistress ruining a family of three."
"You’re not," Adam immediately contradicted her, his expression serious and earnest.
Olivia was startled by his quick reaction and stuck out her tongue, "I’m just joking, why such a big reaction? Could it be that the child in Renee’s belly is really yours?"
Adam felt unprecedented discomfort in his heart; he almost impulsively blurted out everything to her. But then he remembered the check-up results from the Hospital weren’t out yet, nor had he received Rupert Harris’s investigation results. If he didn’t say anything, he couldn’t be absolutely sure Olivia would believe him.
"What does your silence mean? Damn, don’t scare me, is Renee’s child really yours?" As he hesitated to speak and considered things, Olivia kept watching him. Seeing his reaction, her heart skipped a beat and a bad thought surfaced.
Adam reacted quickly, immediately adjusted his emotions, and continued pushing her, calmly denying, "No, it’s not."
"Then why were you silent just now?" Olivia asked suspiciously.
On one hand, she believed Adam was unlikely to have anything with Renee, yet his recent reaction indeed made her somewhat doubtful.
Adam took a deep breath, curled his lips, his peach blossom eyes glistening, "Nothing much, I was just thinking."
"Thinking about what?" Olivia still felt uneasy and pressed further.
Adam was not someone who could easily hide the truth; how could Olivia’s few words reveal it? Without even a twitch in his brow, he calmly said, "I was thinking about what you just said."
"Didn’t you say you didn’t know when Renee started dating a boyfriend? I haven’t heard she’s got a new boyfriend either. I was just thinking about that."
This explanation seemed reasonable as well.
Olivia looked puzzled, "Really?" She felt like his previous reaction was as if he had something to tell her.
Adam reached out and gently tapped her nose, doting, "Really!"
"By the way, have you told your manager about your work plan?"
This topic interested Olivia more than Renee, indeed diverting her attention as Adam subtly shifted the subject, beginning to ponder how to convince her fiery-tempered manager at home...
Adam accompanied her walking around the hospital for a full hour before pushing her back to the ward.
Just then, Enna Clark arrived with the two little ones. As soon as they entered, the always sweet-talking little girl immediately rushed toward Olivia Lewis, confessing in her childish voice, "Auntie Olivia, Gigi really missed you, missed you so much that I couldn’t eat my meals or sleep well."
Meanwhile, Bobby rolled his eyes beside them, "You said the same thing to Grandpa before. You eat two bowls every meal; I haven’t seen you eat less."
The little girl, exposed, pouted and turned back, mumbling grumpily, "Bad Brubby! Bad!"
