Chapter 1434: Chapter 740: Immortal Herbs

“Some answers can only be found there.”

Xiao Xuanze said no more, just took out a Jade Scroll from his bosom and handed it to Gu Sheng.

“This is the distress signal of our Wanling Palace. If you face danger, crush it, and if there are any Wanling Palace disciples nearby, they will surely come to assist.”

Gu Sheng received the Jade Scroll and carefully put it away.

“Thank you.”

“Take care.”

Xiao Xuanze cupped his hands.

“The same goes for Wanling Palace.”

Gu Sheng returned the gesture, turned, and left, his silhouette appearing particularly upright under the sunset.

After leaving Wanling Palace, Gu Sheng did not head directly to the Spirit Flame Mountain Range but turned towards the Linyin Pavilion in the city.

He wanted to see Tantai Xueling before departing, to inform about the situation with Shadow, and take the opportunity to say goodbye.

As soon as Gu Sheng stepped into the door of Linyin Pavilion, a maid in a light purple long dress came up to him.

“Senior Gu!”

The maid greeted him respectfully.

Gu Sheng nodded slightly.

“Is the Pavilion Master here?”

The maid looked troubled.

“The Pavilion Master left for Medicine King Valley with Miss Ying three days ago. Miss Ying’s injuries are peculiar, and the Pavilion Master said only the ‘Nine Turns Soul Returning Pill’ from Medicine King Valley can cure her.”

Gu Sheng furrowed his brow slightly.

“Did she say when she’ll return?”

“At least half a month.”

The maid replied.

“Before leaving, the Pavilion Master left word, asking Senior Gu not to worry and to focus on your own matters.”

Gu Sheng was silent for a moment, then took out a letter from his bosom.

“Give this letter to her when the Pavilion Master returns.”

“Yes.”

The maid accepted the letter with both hands and carefully put it away.

When leaving Linyin Pavilion, the sky had completely darkened.

The city lights were gradually lighting up, and the streets were still bustling with people.

Gu Sheng walked through several bustling streets to the demon beast station in the east of the city.

The station covered a vast area, with dozens of Demon Beasts of various shapes confined in specially made iron cages, some spewing fire, others flapping their wings attempting to fly.

The air was filled with the unique stench of Demon Beasts, mixed with the smell of feed and herbs.

“Are you looking to rent a beast cart?”

A middle-aged man who seemed to be in charge greeted him with a wide smile.

Gu Sheng nodded.

“To Spirit Flame City, as quickly as possible.”

The man’s eyes lit up.

“Spirit Flame City is twenty thousand miles from here. A regular beast cart takes five days, but if you use a Third-level Gale Wolf to pull the cart, you’ll reach it in three days, only the price…”

Gu Sheng directly threw out a Storage Bag.

“Third-level Gale Wolf, and make it the best carriage.”

The manager caught the Storage Bag, scanned it with his Divine Sense, and immediately beamed with joy.

“You’re straightforward! I will prepare right away, assuring you the most comfortable Cloud Pattern sandalwood cart, with the latest shock-absorbing array inscribed!”

An hour later, a jet-black carriage stopped at the entrance of the station.

Pulling the cart was a giant wolf nearly two meters tall at the shoulder, its silver-gray fur glistened under the moonlight, with faint blue air currents swirling around its four feet.

As the manager described, the carriage was indeed crafted from top-grade Cloud Pattern sandalwood, with intricate array patterns carved on its surface.

“Please, board the cart.”

The manager personally opened the carriage door.

“The Gale Wolf has been tamed and requires no feeding stops along the way. You’ll arrive in Spirit Flame City in three days.”

Gu Sheng boarded the carriage and found that the interior was much larger than it appeared outside, clearly enhanced by a space-expanding spell.

Inside, there was a soft couch, a small table, and even a mini bookshelf.

“Let’s go.”

Gu Sheng said blandly.

The manager respectfully exited the carriage and shouted to the driver after closing the door.

“Off we go!”

The Gale Wolf raised its head and let out a long howl, conjuring wind beneath its feet, and lifted the carriage into the air, vanishing into the night in an instant.

The interior of the carriage was surprisingly stable, with barely any bumps.

Gu Sheng sat cross-legged on the soft couch and took out the map given by Xiao Xuanze to study it again.

The markings on the map were already blurred, but a red dot marked with special ink caught his attention.

“Spirit Flame Mountain… Red Flame Valley…”

Gu Sheng tapped his finger on the red dot, pondering.

Three days later, around noon.

The carriage slowly descended onto a dusty official road.

In the distance, a scarlet city stood tall, with towering walls.

“Sir, we’ve arrived at Spirit Flame City.”

The driver’s respectful voice came from outside the door.

Gu Sheng put away the map and pushed open the carriage door. A heatwave hit him, and the air was filled with the smell of sulfur.

The official road was crowded with people waiting to enter the city, forming a long line that stretched for hundreds of meters.

“So many people?”

Gu Sheng frowned slightly.

The driver wiped his sweat.

“You may not know, but Spirit Flame City is the only supply point before entering the Spirit Flame Mountain Range. Thousands of martial artists come daily. Plus, there’s a rumor of an Exotic Treasure emerging in Spirit Flame Mountain, so there are more people than usual.”

Gu Sheng nodded, paid the remaining fee, and headed toward the city gate.

The queue consisted of all kinds of people, including lone swordsmen with longswords on their backs, mercenary teams traveling together, and even a few noble family scions in luxurious clothes.

Everyone was sweating under the scorching sun but dared not complain; two rows of fully-armed guards stood on either side of the gate, their gazes sharp.

After queuing for about an hour, Gu Sheng finally approached the gate. Just then, a commotion arose from the front.

“Think you’re special because you’re in the Xuanwu Realm? Why cut in line!”

A rough voice shouted.

“Shut up!”

The guard barked sharply.

“According to Spirit Flame City rules, those above the Xuanwu Realm are exempt from inspection! Keep making noise, and you’ll be kicked out!”

The crowd instantly quieted, though the discontent lingered.

Gu Sheng shook his head and continued moving forward step by step.

When it was finally his turn, a guard mechanically asked.

“Name? Cultivation? From where?”

“Gu Sheng.”

Gu Sheng replied calmly.

“Earth Martial Realm, from Great Wilderness City.”

The registration book in the guard’s hand clattered to the ground, and the surroundings fell so silent you could hear a pin drop.
