Chapter 21
Chapter 21
Why Save Me
“Haa!”
Su Ying broke out of the water and used all her strength to pull Xiao Jin up, making him face the sky.
She quickly observed the surrounding situation. There were mountains on both sides and no place to get ashore. She could only continue to follow the current and see the case downstream.
Not long after, Su Ying realized that both riverbanks were covered with drooping tree branches. She took an opportunity and grabbed a thick branch to stabilize their bodies.
By virtue of the boundless strength of her device, Su Ying dragged Xiao Jin up the bank. Even so, she was so tired that she didn’t want to move a finger.
Yet she couldn’t lie flat, as she didn’t know if Xiao Jin was dead or alive.
Su Ying had to get up and check on Xiao Jin’s condition. She discovered that his pulse had already stopped.
Her eyebrows twitched as she considered how the two kids would cry if they knew their father had already gone to hell.
Su Ying laid Xiao Jin flat, checked his nose and mouth for foreign objects, and then started to perform CPR.
She kept pressing his chest with both hands, but he didn’t respond.
Su Ying frowned, took a deep breath, then bent down to kiss… press his mouth.
The moment Su Ying’s lips touched his, Xiao Jin suddenly opened his eyes. A cold, murderous aura swirled out of his deep black eyes, and he reached out to push her away.
Su Ying didn’t expect him to wake up suddenly, and fell to the ground.
“Xiao Jin, can’t you know what’s good for you!”
Xiao Jin sat up and glared at her coldly. “Can’t you have some sense of shame?”
Su Ying wiped the water off her face and stood up.
“Can you stop thinking about that useless vulgar stuff? Do you think you’re in a good enough shape for me to f*ck?”
The veins on Xiao Yi’s forehead jumped. He didn’t know where this woman came from, to be able to say such shameless words openly.
“If it weren’t for me, you would have become fish feed. If it weren’t for the two children, would I have saved you?”
Su Ying was furious. She had torn the last person who dared to act like this in front of her into pieces!
Xiao Jin recalled Su Ying had jumped in without hesitation when he fell. After they entered the water, his internal injuries flared up, and his blood surged. He immediately sealed all his meridians and held his breath, creating an illusion of death.
“Were you trying to save me just now?”
Su Ying didn’t want to explain the theory behind CPR. She said coldly: “Yes.”
Xiao Jin pursed his lips as if he could still feel the slight coolness of her soft lips.
Su Ying didn’t want to argue with him. She popped an energy candy into her mouth and stood up to check her surroundings. They had fallen from the cliff and had to go up if they wanted to leave this place.
“Is Yue City close to the sea?” If it were, the water would likely flow towards the sea. Then, if they followed the flow, the possibility of finding a village was very high.
“No. But a river runs through the city.”
“A river is the same. Let’s follow the current and leave this place first.”
Xiao Jin thought that Su Ying would ignore him but was surprised to find her walking to him, grabbing his hand, and putting him on her back.
Xiao Jin didn’t refuse. They had to leave the spot as soon as possible and catch up with the exiles.
The bracelet’s power helped Su Ying carry Xiao Jin’s body weight, so it wasn’t burdensome for her to walk.
Xiao Jin looked at Su Ying’s eyelashes, which were flickering under the golden light. Her long eyelashes were like brushes, moving back and forth between his heart and chest. This feeling was extraordinary. He had never felt this way in his 20-odd years of life.
“Why did you jump down without hesitation?” Xiao Jin asked the question from the bottom of his heart.
“Because you can’t die,” Su Ying replied without thinking.
Xiao Jin furrowed his brows. “You don’t want me to die?”
“You can think that way.”
Xiao Jin was slightly stunned and subconsciously lowered his eyes to look at the mole behind her neck.
The mole was still there, and the person in front of her was Su Ying. She was still Su Ying but wasn’t at the same time.
Xiao Jin suddenly recalled an ancient legend. It said that the stars would shift when there was an unnatural phenomenon.
He had asked Ling and Ji, and they both said that Su Ying hadn’t left the room while he was unconscious. She only fell and was knocked out for a little while.
Su Ying’s change started after she woke up.
Xiao Jin was now sure that the person in front of him was Su Ying, but it was very likely that the shifting stars had already switched her for someone else.
Su Ying had no idea that she had already exposed herself to Xiao Jin.
She carried Xiao Jin on her back and walked along the river. It was almost dark, but they didn’t see any signs of habitation.
Su Ying had no choice but to find a cave to spend the night.
“There should be a place to rest if we walk another half a mile.” Xiao Jin said.
“Alright.” Su Ying didn’t question him and picked up her pace.
Surely enough, after passing through a pile of rocks, she found a small cave.
It was on a slight slope, and the view was broad. There was no need to worry about wild beasts attacking at night.
After Su Ying checked that there were no issues, she carried Xiao Jin in.
She placed Xiao Jin on the ground, then stood up and walked out.
“I’ll go and find some firewood to start a fire.” She was wet and uncomfortable.
“OK.”
Su Ying had come out also to retrieve some things from her inventory. She didn’t want to go hungry tonight.
However, to not let Xiao Jin discover any clues, she still soaked the dry food she had taken out from the space in water. Then, she picked up some firewood along the way before returning to the cave.
“Do you know how to start a fire by drilling wood?” She didn’t know how to do it anyway, but it would be too obvious if she used a lighter.
“I do.”
Su Ying left Xiao Jin to it and left the cave again. “I’ll go see if I can find any prey.”
There wasn’t much in the deep mountains, but still some prey. After Su Ying detected the game’s location with her biological detector, she quietly approached. She caught seven or eight hares and a pheasant in less than an hour.
She let out the blood, skinned the rabbits, and put the skins into her interspace. Then she returned to the cave with the cleaned prey.
Xiao Jin had started a fire in the cave.
“Not a bad trip. We’ll have some meat tonight.”
Xiao Jin looked at her bright smile and realized that her eyes were glowing when she talked about food. He wondered where she had been before. Did she have no food?
Su Ying skewered the rabbits and the pheasant on wooden sticks and roasted them over the fire. While the food was cooking, she gathered more firewood so they didn’t have to worry about the fire dying down at night.
Then, not expected by Xiao Jin, before she sat down, she began to take off her clothes.
