Chapter 72 She Had Changed
72 She Had Changed
When they arrived at the open space, everyone examined the location of the open space and felt that it was very suitable.
Now that they had found a place to stay, they would need a house to shelter themselves from the wind and rain.
There were many people in their group, so they needed many houses.
Along the way, Su Ying realized that most of the houses here were wooden. There were almost no houses with green fired bricks or roof tiles. The rest were just mud houses.
The brick house was sturdy, but they didn’t have the materials, so they could only look for wood to build the houses.
Su Ying looked at the mountain not far away. The trees there were lush, so she should be able to start there.
“I’ll bring them up the mountain to chop down some timber to build houses. You can arrange the rest,” Su Ying said to Xiao Yan.
Xiao Jin nodded. “Alright. Be careful yourself.”
Su Ying murmured a reply, then mounted her horse and led the mercenaries up the mountain in an impressive convoy.
Su Ying had just left when Wang Su walked over. “Master, Chu Yun has woken up.”
After Chu Yun was rescued, he had been in a coma because of his serious injuries. Su Ying only said that his body had suffered too much damage and needed a certain amount of time to recover. When Xiao Jin heard Wang Su, he went to the carriage Chu Yun was in.
“Chu Yun.”
Upon hearing Xiao Jin’s voice, Chu Yun turned his eyes to look at him, and his eyes gradually focused on the visitor.
When he saw Xiao Jin’s appearance clearly, his eyes immediately became red-rimmed. “Your Highness…”
“Don’t move. You have not fully recovered.”
Chu Yun sat up with Wang Su’s help. Right now, he was completely awake.
“It’s great to still be able to see your Highness in my lifetime.”
Xiao Jin looked into his sincere eyes and felt very moved. “Yes. And we’ll live well in the future.”
“How did Your Highness locate me?”
“It was Jiang Yang who went back to look for you. It’s a long story.” However, Xiao Jin still briefly explained to Chu Yun what happened on their journey.
Chu Yun’s brows furrowed so tightly that they almost joined. “Your Highness, are you saying that Su Ying has changed?”
Xiao Jin nodded. “Yes. She had turned into another person totally. You’ll know in the future.”
Chu Yun did not believe Xiao Jin. He knew Su Ying too well. The so-called change in personality was just a pretentious disguise.
However, Xiao Jin believed in her. He didn’t say anything more. Time would prove everything.
“You haven’t recovered from your injuries and illness yet. Rest well in the carriage.”
Chu Yun nodded. He also wanted to get better quickly so that he could help Xiao Jin.
After Xiao Jin got off the carriage, he called Tian Mu over.
“Master, what are your orders?”
“You know how to build a house?”
Tian Mu nodded. “Yes, Master. My family has been building houses for a living for generations. Although we are also involved in some furniture making, we still mainly focus on building houses.”
Xiao Jin nodded. “There are so many of us. You should have a plan in your mind now about what kind of house we should be settled in.”
Su Ying had saved his family of three, so Tian Mu was naturally willing to work for them. Moreover, once the houses were built, he and his family would also have a place to live.
“What kind does Master want?”
“There needs to be a main building. The houses for the rest of you can be spread out according to the area of the open space. There’s no need for everyone to be squeezed into one building.”
Tian Mu replied that he understood.
Xiao Jin took out a brush, ink, paper, and an inkstone from his bag. Su Ying had bought them. She said that she would use them for her children to practice writing after they had found a place to settle down.
“Draw out what you have in mind first. Then we’ll discuss it in detail after that.”
“Yes, Sir.”
Xiao Jin then summoned both Zhao Neng and Wang Su. He told them to take a look around and try to gather as much information as possible about the Tiger Base.
Xiao Jin issued the instructions one by one.
Meanwhile, Su Ying walked for more than two hours before they reached the foot of the mountain.
The mountain appeared near, but one would only know how far away it really was when one actually walked to it.
Su Ying noticed that there were a few families scattered at the foot of the mountain, but this place was far worse compared to the base camp.
“I’ll go cut down the trees in a while. You guys are responsible for transporting the timber back to where we’re staying.”
The mercenaries never thought that they would one day be reduced to hard labor working for others.
However, they had no choice. They didn’t want to die yet.
Su Ying walked in front and took out an electric saw from her interspatial store. She selected some trees and started sawing them down rapidly.
The mercenaries didn’t know what kind of divine tool Su Ying was holding. All they could hear was a buzzing sound.
Before long, they heard Su Ying shouting for them to make way. Then, they saw a big tree topple over.
Boom! The loud crash caused the ground beneath their feet to tremble.
“Here’s an ax. Split the timber into two so that it’ll be easier to transport them down the mountain.”
The mercenaries could only take the ax and start working.
Before the sky turned dark, Su Ying had already cut down many trees. She was worried that she wouldn’t be able to transport all of them back, so she stopped sawing.
She then took out some ropes from her interspatial store and handed them to the mercenaries, telling them to tie the ropes to the tree trunks.
“Work faster. If you drag your feet, it will be dark soon. Do you still want to eat dinner?”
Su Ying tied the rope around her waist and shoulders, and she started to walk down the mountain while pulling the log.
The mercenaries’ jaws dropped as they watched her walk so briskly while pulling the log that weighed hundreds or even thousands of kilograms.
“Leader, what the hell is this thing!”
The mercenaries were extremely remorseful. If they had known that they were up against Su Ying in this mission, they would never have come even if they were beaten to death!
“She’s a demon. Hurry up. Work faster.” Otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to have any dinner tonight!
Su Ying dragged the huge log of wood and walked down like a slithering water dragon. The rumbling sounds made the people in the base camp think that an earthquake was happening.
Su Ying didn’t know that Tiger Might’s men were watching her group’s every move.
“Leader, who on earth are these people? Especially that woman…” When the subordinate thought of Su Ying dragging a log of wood that was thicker than her own body and running faster than a rabbit, he thought he was dreaming.
Tiger Might grabbed the lamb leg on the table and took a bite. After swallowing the meat, he said in a muffled voice, “In my Tiger Base, how many are ordinary people? That woman is a powerful character. I want to see what she can do. Just monitor her secretly.”
“Yes, Sir.”
By the time Su Ying returned to the open space, the sky had already turned dark.
Even though they had witnessed Su Ying’s prowess countless times, Aunt Zhao and the others were still shocked speechless when they saw Su Ying pulling such a huge log of wood back without breaking a sweat.
“Mistress, this… this is…”
“This is for building the houses. There are still a lot of them. They’re all at the back. I don’t know when those useless things will come back.” Su Ying untied the rope on her body.
Just as she was about to tell Uncle Hea to cook, she saw Mei Niang walking over in an alluring manner with a lunch box in her hand.
“Little Miss.”
Su Ying turned around and looked at Mei Niang dressed in all red standing in the dark. She got the feeling that the aura she exuded was not that of a human.
