Chapter 483 These Panties Look Familiar...
Chapter 483 These Panties Look Familiar...
"These panties?"
Snuggling in bed, Yana was still mocking the girl for her thin skin, her expression one of smug victory. Her hand suddenly brushed against a small, thoroughly damp piece of fabric.
Picking it up, Yana froze. The black design was slightly revealing, the lace with its intricate cut-out pattern particularly delicate. It was clearly not a cheap piece.
"What is it?"
Luis asked casually.
Yana's delicate eyebrows knitted together. "Maria seems to have a lingerie set like this."
Hearing this, Luis's heart began to race. He quickly deflected, "Women's underwear all looks pretty similar, like those forgettable faces. You think this looks familiar?"
"Absolutely. Maria used to prefer plain cotton stuff, the childish, old-fashioned kind kids wear."
"Some time ago, I don't know what got into her, but she suddenly bought two or three sets of very sexy lingerie. I thought to myself, that girl must be in a relationship."
As she spoke, she seemed to realize that discussing her daughter's underwear with a man was a rather odd, even perverse, topic.
Yana thought for a moment, then stuffed the panties into her own bag. Seeing this, Luis was taken aback. "Why are you taking her panties? Since when do you have a fetish?"
"I'm not a pervert. If that little hussy wants them, she can come find me. Running out without them, what a careless little bitch."
He held her close and slept soundly through the night. Waking the next morning, he wanted another round, but Yana, already thoroughly satisfied, begged off gently. Flattered, Luis let her be.
Yana had work the next day, rising early to head straight to her office.
As for her taking the panties, Luis didn't dwell on it. His initial anxiety was real, but upon reflection, if she truly suspected something and took the initiative to pierce that thin veil, it might even be a good thing.
Though as a mother she would surely be furious and humiliated, he felt confident he could smooth things over by then.
Luis was convinced he had conquered her, body and soul, making this fierce, beautiful young woman utterly dependent on him. Add to that the power of the Affection Through Familiarity formula, and there would definitely be no problem.
Teacher Blanche's law firm completed its move in just four days. Located on the top floor of an office building, the entire floor was the most luxurious in the complex.
"Congratulations, Teacher Blanche!"
Though her network wasn't vast, word had spread that a high-ranking official had put in a good word, and with several congratulatory flower baskets arriving, her peers in the building showed due respect by coming to offer their support.
Luis arrived with his wife, Lily. Lily immediately greeted her with warm affection.
"Slow down, your belly is starting to show, and you're still bouncing around like that."
Blanche spoke to her just as affectionately.
Yet, her expression held a hint of complexity now—a reproachful glance at Luis, mixed with a certain degree of reluctant admiration.
Because accompanying them were the ethereally beautiful sister-in-law, Nancy, and the exquisitely, delicately dressed Chloe.
The two former campus queens standing together were a stunning sight even without makeup, let alone dressed so meticulously.
In Luis's eyes, his wife was sweet and lovely.
To others, unaffected by the System's newbie benefits, Lily remained plain, even homely.
So, seeing Lily looking blissfully happy and intimate with her handsome husband, outsiders would naturally assume Luis was a devoted man.
But those slightly in the know felt conflicted. They certainly despised this playboy, yet seeing Lily's utterly contented expression, who had the heart to tell her the truth?
No formal banquet was held for the opening. Seeing how busy she was, they politely offered their congratulations, left their gifts, and departed.
Just as they reached the downstairs lobby, Chloe said with a bright smile, "Nancy, your bag is truly lovely."
Nancy, who was driving, forced a stiff smile, her guilt written plainly on her face. She replied evasively, "It's alright. Quite comfortable to carry."
The charity auction from the other night was a minor, ignored affair elsewhere, but within their circle, it had become the talk of the town.
Nancy's lover had spent a million on that limited-edition bag for her. No one knew how many green-eyed monsters it had spawned, but at the very least, Chloe's jealousy was thoroughly stirred.
Conversely, their rival, Deewa, had been completely overshadowed.
Even though she'd spent over ten thousand dollars on that necklace, it paled in comparison to Nancy's display.
Luis had seen their group chat logs—full of backhanded compliments and sycophancy. In short, many were taking thinly-veiled digs at Deewa.
She hadn't responded at all. That necklace, bought for over ten thousand but worth only five thousand, was already sold. Three thousand dollars in hand was more practical than anything.
All the gifts she'd received from men over the years had been liquidated. Confronting Anglo required money, and her mother and grandma needed support too, so she owned not a single piece of jewelry.
"My, isn't that one terribly expensive, though?"
Chloe's tone was dripping with acid.
In truth, she was bursting with questions. Where had Daniel disappeared to that night? In his place, this adulterer had sat openly next to the adulteress, flaunting their intimacy.
She desperately wanted to ask her nephew about it, but fearing it would stir up a hornet's nest, she had kept silent.
"It'll do, Auntie, let's go get a beauty treatment."
"Okay, and I'll wash my hair while I'm at it, it's feeling a bit oily."
The three women headed off to the women's club to enjoy themselves. Luis, breathing a huge sigh of relief, went straight home, took a shower, changed his clothes, and went out.
He called Maria, but she didn't answer, only replying with a message: "You bad guy!"
Luis knew the young girl was feeling conflicted and confused, but she wasn't truly angry. She just needed some time to process everything.
He decided to let things take their natural course. No matter what, Luis was confident he could handle them.
