Elara Ye's tone was unusually serious for the first time.

Luis took a drag and asked with a chuckle, "Sis, did you get news about Xeno?"

Elara Ye's voice was hoarse and worried. "I only got word this morning when I arrived at work. Xeno was hit by a car last night."

Once Xeno arrived, as a TV station leader involved in the production, he was warmly received by the crew. He was an old acquaintance of the show's producer. Naturally, he stayed at a luxurious hotel. Last night, the crew, including the director and lead actors, had wined and dined him.
The dinner was at a seafood restaurant near the hotel, accompanied by some of the young actresses looking to climb the ladder. The casting couch was an open secret in the entertainment industry.

After the meal, the director and producer sent the others back first. They personally took the leisurely-walking Xeno and the young actress he'd taken a liking to back to the hotel.
That should have been the end of it. But after they left, Xeno, buying cigarettes at a convenience store near the hotel, spotted a drunk-driving checkpoint at the intersection and became intrigued.
Even though the young actress was coaxing him to go back and shower, the Chinese love for watching a spectacle took over. It was also one of Xeno's favorite pastimes.
The night was long, and he wasn't in a rush. Curiosity piqued, Xeno took the young actress to watch the commotion.
Initially, everything was normal; they hadn't caught anyone. They watched for a while, somewhat disappointed.
He was just about to take the girl back to the room when suddenly, the crowd erupted in excited cheers. He hurried back to see a group of police surrounding a white BMW.
The white BMW went berserk, flooring the gas and swerving through traffic, sending pedestrians scattering in panic. Most alarmingly, a police officer was clinging to the hood, and another was being dragged behind.
Hit-and-runs happened, but this brazen and violent was rare. The BMW wildly sought an escape route.
It rammed through other cars to flee. Just as Xeno was stunned for a moment, screams erupted around him. He happened to be blocked from the view by the crowd.
Already slow to react due to the alcohol, by the time he realized what was happening, the BMW's glaring headlights were right in front of him.
Over a dozen onlookers were knocked down. He and the young actress were among them, knocked unconscious immediately.
The BMW sped off, flinging the officer from the hood. The police on scene were furious. While reporting to headquarters for tracking and interception, they quickly directed the ambulances, originally there for blood tests, to rush the injured to the hospital.
Elara Ye said, "Our leadership found out in the middle of the night. The young actress called someone from the crew, and they got to the hospital first to look after him."

Seeing Luis speak so confidently, Elara Ye inexplicably felt more at ease. She thought to herself that she couldn't be the one to panic now.
Her little brother was right. In her attitude, she had to treat this as a pure accident. Otherwise, she'd give herself away.
With that thought, she felt a pang of guilt. She believed that Luis had done all this.
This harmless, handsome young brother had meticulously planned such an accident just to help her, a sister he'd only just met. The enormous risk he'd taken made her uneasy.
For anyone else, only parents would go this far for their children. Even in a typical marriage, couples wouldn't do this for each other, unless they were foolishly love-struck.
It was indeed the most brutal and effective way to solve the problem permanently, but the risk was immense.
