Chapter 4000: Remember Not to Speak Out of Turn
Chapter 4000: Chapter 4000: Remember Not to Speak Out of Turn
Lu Zhi lowered his eyes, staring at the back of his hand, and slowed down his voice: "I know she’s not afraid. She’s been different from us since she was a child, as if she doesn’t take anything to heart... She can be unafraid, but I have to make plans for her."
Jian Jin understood: "So you hid the person before Qiao could get to him because you didn’t want Jiang Yao to impulsively provoke Nie Qingru?"
She stood there, overwhelmed with mixed emotions, unable to describe the sour feeling surging in her chest at that moment.
"Boss, you..." She didn’t even know what to say to Lu Zhi.
Lu Zhi wasn’t wrong in his thinking, at least his starting point was for Qiao’s good, but why did his actions seem so unwelcome?
Lu Zhi’s deep eyes were emotionless as he picked up a pen, and said irritably: "I’ll tell you the hotel where he’s hiding, you inform her."
"Alright." Jian Jin nodded, feeling relieved that he could think it through.
She hadn’t even walked out.
And then she heard the low, chilling voice of the man behind her: "I wasn’t wrong about that thing with Ye Wangchuan. This is a conflict between the two of us, and if he has to have Qiao Nian step in, it only shows he’s not qualified to stand by her side! I’d only look down on him even more!"
Jian Jin turned her back, never turning around.
Lu Zhi had no intention of asking for comfort either, raising his hand: "Go out."
Jian Jin sighed quietly, turning and leaving.
Suddenly, only a few executives pretending to be dead were left in the office, unable to decide whether to stay or leave. As they were hesitating whether to remind their boss they were still inside...
Lu Zhi didn’t even spare them a sideways glance, gripping the pen as he signed his name on the last page of the contract, speaking calmly: "What did you hear today?"
"Nothing."
"We didn’t hear anything."
"Yes, we came to report on the recent hijacking of goods on the open sea. Other than that, we know nothing."
Lu Zhi signed his name with a flourish, capping the pen, his face as beautiful as jade yet without any expression, his calm eyes containing the immense sea: "I don’t want to hear a single rumor outside. If I hear a whisper of it coming to my ears, I won’t even ask who leaked it, you can all prepare for the aftermath."
He spoke as if it were as simple as eating or drinking.
Yet the few executives were trembling like sieves.
"No, no, it won’t happen. Rest assured, Lu Zhi!"
"We don’t know anything."
"Exactly, we know nothing."
The few exchanged looks of pleading with Lu Zhi.
Lu Zhi never intended to ’silence’ them over such a trivial matter, seeing their ashen faces and stammering with fear.
He lost interest, withdrawing his gaze, his tone cold: "...Go out and get me the open sea investigation report as soon as possible."
The executive called out broke into a sweat, nodded slightly.
Lu Zhi focused back on his work, ignoring them.
They glanced at each other in the office for a while, one of them braced themselves to quietly say, ’Lu Zhi, I’ll head out first.’
Soon after, the others found a backbone and left one after another.
They left with lingering fears, warning each other not to speak carelessly outside and implicate everyone. Finally, the chubby executive, with a bitter expression, bid farewell to the others: "I’ll go investigate the open sea matter first; Lu Zhi is still waiting for my report."
The others looked at him with sympathy, one patted his shoulder as encouragement.
The executive, unable to voice his grievances, was left with a grim face, hurrying back to his domain to find people and connections to investigate the identity of the ’pirates’ who hijacked the Tian Chen cargo ship.
