Chapter 395: Final Judgement

Chapter 395: Final Judgement

Finn looked down at Ailin, and a deep suspicion immediately filled his mind. He had clearly noted the direction she came from. It was completely opposite to where the mangled balls of flesh belonging to Nocturne and Storm were located.

Still, that fact changed nothing. He suspected her completely.

She had once been the vessel for a Great One, so Finn knew it was entirely possible that during the brief moments when the veil between worlds was weakened, entities from the other side could have reached into this world.

It was the same way his own twenty thousand believers had managed to pass through that same veil safely.

He quietly focused his divine senses, scanning her body without her knowledge to see if any hidden entity was lingering within her soul. His energy swept through her, but his senses detected absolutely nothing out of place. Her spiritual makeup was perfectly clean.

All of this occurred within the span of a few split seconds, and when Finn noted nothing of importance, he chose not to press her, giving her a simple nod instead.

“I am glad to see you are alive, Ailin.” Finn said.

Ailin nodded back. Her expression and demeanor were completely on point. She truly did not look like someone who had been recently possessed or controlled by an outside force.

“I am still recovering, but I am much better now.” she said.

Finn stared at her for a moment longer. He then shifted his gaze toward the rest of the surviving Transcendents kneeling on the ruined battlefield, waiting for him to deliver his final judgment.

“As the Errant Heretic, I made a promise that I would bring an end to the reign of Transcendents.” Finn’s voice boomed across the expanse. “I have done just that. The world has already begun to heal, and the reign of Transcendents, along with the entire existence of Ossuarists as a whole, has come to its final end.”

The surviving powerhouses looked up, their expressions turning rigid.

“No chaotic soul masses will be produced anywhere in this world going forward.” Finn continued. “When Arcanists die now, their souls will no longer become intertwined with the ambient mana of this plane. The current Ossuarists walking this world are the last ones that will ever exist.

All the hundreds and thousands of chaotic soul mass outbreaks that usually plague the different continents have already been completely dispersed. Every living soul intertwined with mana is being unraveled, returning naturally to the currents of the cosmos.”

Finn looked directly into their eyes.

“Do you understand what this truly means for you?”

The looks on the faces of all the Transcendents turned utterly dejected. They immediately understood the exact reality of Finn’s words.

The only reason they were still alive in this modern era was because their ancient, transcendent souls were deeply powerful. When they died eras ago, their souls became chaotic soul masses that managed to retain their conscious ego and memories.

They had simply taken over the modern Ossuarist bodies they currently inhabited, overwriting the original consciousness of the host with their own transcendent fragments.

But the Great Dao was now aggressively correcting the corrupted mana of their world. To the new laws of reality, their very existence was classified as a corruption that needed to be rectified.

Their consciousness that was bound to the soul of the vessel they now possessed would very slowly begin to fray at the edges. Over the years, it would disperse into nothingness.

The currently living Ossuarists were the final generation. The chaotic soul masses they had assimilated were only surviving because they were bound to a living mortal soul. But even those soul masses would begin to dissolve…

It could take days, weeks, months, or even decades depending on how powerful the soul mass was, but the conclusion was absolute. The reach of the Great Dao was strong enough to correct and unravel the intertwining between two souls even at the deepest assimilation level of an Ossuarist.

As the reality of this slow execution settled into their minds, Finn kept speaking. He was not finished with them yet. This was merely the beginning of his judgment:

“There is only one method to remedy this situation.” Finn said, his glowing green eyes flashing through his bone mask. “The only way you can survive the correction of the Great Dao is to cultivate divine power and gather faith among believers. The world is healing itself, and it is slowly gaining the capacity to accommodate divine power to greater extents already.

If a Transcendent can cultivate divine power before their consciousness fully disperses, they can anchor themselves, survive, and step into true Godhood. It would give you a completely new lease on life in your true consciousness.”

Hearing this, a desperate flicker of hope appeared in the eyes of the Transcendents. But before they could even process the thought, Finn revealed his true judgment:

“And that is exactly why the Transcendents who have wronged me, the ones I promised retribution upon, will now enter into a strict binding pact with me.”

“I have chosen to be merciful and not kill you outright. But if you refuse to enter into this pact, I will not hesitate to erase your souls from existence right now,” Finn’s voice turned incredibly cold.

“The terms of the pact are simple. So long as you are alive, the Transcendents who orchestrated my arrival into this world will never be permitted to cultivate divine power. The moment you even attempt to touch that power, you cede your life. The Great Dao will instantly expedite the slow dispersion of your soul, erasing you immediately.”

The remaining hope vanished from their faces. Finn was locking the gates of Godhood right in front of them.

“Furthermore, during the years your lives are slowly dispersing, you will swear an oath to my authority.” Finn commanded. “You will be in absolute service to the world. You will become the literal beacons for the development of this plane. Casmir, you will use your spatial abilities, even as they weaken over the years, to reconstruct the ruins and wreckage left behind from the transition of the Old Era to this New Era. Every other Transcendent will do the same, using their remaining strength to aid the world.”

A heavy silence followed his words. None of the transcendents even muttered a word.

But then suddenly, the giant body of the Soul Transcendent groaned from the dirt. He was crawling on his knees, blood spilling from his ruptured midsection. He looked up at Finn with a gaze full of hollow exhaustion:

Hey everyone! So as you all know, I’d planned another volume after this one. But in the end, I’ve decided to close the story here instead.

I do have an idea for what comes after, but it would follow a new side character instead of Finn, an aftermath story set hundreds of years later, with Finn and Althea only appearing in maybe 30% of it towards the latter ends mostly.

Most readers don’t love an MC-less POV, and multiple POV shifts, so rather than force that into the main book, I’d rather keep it separate as a possible side story. I’m not working on it right now though, but we’ll see how things go. If there are enough people that wanna see it, I’ll work on it.

In any case, I thank you all who’ve read this far. Thank you to everyone who’s enjoyed the story and sent gifts, power stones, golden tickets, and more.

Many thanks to Preet_0, Dragon Azrael, Daoistchii, Bjarne_H, Gabriel Anjos, Kemyinka, Danirew, Midnyt_Guardian, and everyone who’s supported the book with gifts, Golden Tickets, and Power Stones. (Can’t name everyone… XD)

Thanks for your support.

Cheers,

Astrl.
