Chapter 6438: Betrayal

Chapter 6438: Betrayal

A blinding light suddenly burst forth, and space tremored. A loud explosion followed.

Several gigantic swords of light whizzed across space at a ridiculously fast speed, so much so that the behemoths were impaled before they could even react. The sheer momentum behind the sword vaporized their souls.

It was Tianjian Qingyuan. She had a grim look on her face.

“Why did you suddenly make a move?” Song Changsheng asked in confusion.

The two of them were standing in a formation. They had refrained from making a move because they weren’t sure eliminating these behemoths was the best way to breach the formation.

But it worked. Their surroundings warped, transporting them back onto the path they were previously walking on. The path, however, had gotten wider.

“I sensed a threat earlier. I had to make a move,” Tianjian Qingyuan explained.

“It’s fine. It’s a good thing you made a move. That saved us some time.” Song Changsheng didn’t mind it, since returning to this path meant that they had breached the formation anyway. The ends justified the means.

“You didn’t sense anything?”

“The threat?”

“Mm.”

“I didn’t feel it.”

Tianjian Qingyuan fell into deep thought. The threat had been so vivid that she was certain she would die. She had never felt anything like that except from the top experts in the Ancient Era.

This was her first time sensing anything like that in this era.

“Something is off.” Tianjian Qingyuan suddenly thought about something.

She turned around, and her gaze changed. She gazed across vast space, peering through several realm barriers, to lay her eyes on the Lightning Flame Dao Ancestor’s tombstone realm, on the square where the Heavensword Sacred Palace’s members stood.

The Heavensword Sacred Palace’s members were all looking at their Palace Master’s palm. Their faces were pale, and some of them even began weeping.

On their Palace Master’s palm was a life token—Tianjian Qingyuan’s life token.

“Did something happen to Lord Qingyuan?” Tianjian Canhua asked in disbelief. She couldn’t believe such a thing had happened.

She voiced out the crowd’s concern, though her question was extraneous. Life tokens were crafted to reflect a person’s condition, and Tianjian Qingyuan had personally handed this life token to the Heavensword Sacred Palace’s Palace Master.

The life token’s shattering signified Tianjian Qingyuan’s death.

Tianjian Qingyuan was their Heavensword Sacred Palace’s greatest backing. With her death, the members of the Heavensword Sacred Palace suddenly found themselves not knowing what to do.

At the same time, they were chilled. To think someone of Tianjian Qingyuan’s caliber died here. Just what kind of entities were hiding inside the Immemorial Cemetery?

After a brief shock, some members began to weep. Tears were contagious, and it didn’t take long for more people to begin sobbing.

This naturally drew attention.

The experts from the Zhao Immortal Clan, the Ye Immortal Clan, the Divine Body Heavenly Mansion, and the Immortal Sea Fish Clan looked over. They were concerned about Chu Feng’s safety, but it was hard to turn a blind eye when so many members of the Heavensword Sacred Palace were weeping at the same time.

Something huge must have happened.

Before they could ask any questions, the Palace Master stowed away Tianjian Qingyuan’s life token and sternly glared at her palace members. “Stop crying!”

Despite their anguish, the palace members closed their mouths and wiped away their tears.

“Canhua, try pulling out that sword.” The Palace Master looked at the Lightning Flame Sword, which stood at the center of the square.

“Lord Palace Master!” Tianjian Canhua looked conflicted.

“You don’t have the confidence to do so?” the Palace Master asked.

Startled, Tianjian Canhua looked at the Palace Master. The latter was serious about it.

“I’ll give it a try.”

Tianjian Canhua flitted over to the Lightning Flame Sword, but before she could reach it, several figures descended from the sky and blocked her path. It was Eighth Zhao and Xianhai Shaoyu’s parents and grandfather.

“Heavensword Sacred Palace’s Palace Master, what are you trying to do? This sword belongs to Chu Feng.” Eighth Zhao ignored Tianjian Canhua and directly addressed the Heavensword Sacred Palace’s Palace Master.

He had overheard their conversation.

Boom!

Overwhelming oppressive might suddenly crushed down in the surrounding area, causing the earth to shake.

Eighth Zhao hurriedly raised his cultivation and unleashed his oppressive might to block the attack, but he was still forced down to one knee. The others fared worse, dropping straight to the floor like dead dogs.

The only ones unaffected were the members of the Heavensword Sacred Palace.

Even the flying warships in the sky, except the one belonging to the Heavensword Sacred Palace, plummeted to the ground.

The Palace Master walked up to Eighth Zhao and questioned, “You say the sword belongs to Chu Feng? I only see a sword without a master.”

Her demeanor remained the same, but her disposition changed. Her earlier warmth gave way to extreme coldness.

“I didn’t expect an orthodox sect like the Heavensword Sacred Palace to be this shameless. We all know who deciphered the legacy and defeated the entity inside the spirit formation gate. How can you face your ancestor?” Eighth Zhao asked.

The Heavensword Sacred Palace’s Palace Master slowly drew her God Armament sword as she coldly replied, “That’s none of your business.”

Eighth Zhao quickly pieced the puzzles together and scoffed, “Something must have happened to Tianjian Qingyuan. That’s why you’re getting desperate. Panicking in the face of a crisis. You aren’t worthy of leading the Heavensword Sacred Palace...”

Pu!

A sword impaled Eighth Zhao’s head, pierced through his tongue, and pinned him to the ground. He wasn’t dead, but he couldn’t speak anymore. This sword had not only impaled his body but inflicted grievous damage to his soul, too.

“I am the Heavensword Sacred Palace’s Palace Master. I have to prioritize our palace over everything else. It’s also for the future of our palace that Lord Qingyuan instructed us to protect Chu Feng. I have no regrets even if it means becoming a bad person. I am responsible not for the world but just the Heavensword Sacred Palace. I’m appalled that a clan chief like you don’t even understand such basic logic,” the Palace Master sneered.

With a wave of her sleeves, she sent everyone, including Ye Xiancheng’s parents, flying like scattered leaves. Only Eighth Zhao remained on the spot.

“Draw the sword,” the Palace Master commanded.

Tianjian Canhua marched up to the Lightning Flame Sword.
