Chapter 6524: Plump Chen Hui

“Haven’t I said that I don’t like anyone paying respect to me? Try to butter me up once more, and I’ll break your leg!”

That explained why the juniors, who were already present in the palace, didn’t pay respect to the old man. They must have already been aware of this.

But there was still a steady stream of juniors who didn’t know better and greeted the old man. The old man would berate them for it, but it came to a point where he was sick of repeating the same point. He went straight to remotely slapping those who infringed on his rule, toppling them to the ground.

The juniors in this space were all decently talented. They would have shone like brilliant stars anywhere else in the world of cultivation. The Netherworld Sect must have carefully picked the juniors qualified to enter the Undying Starfield.

A man draped in the robe of a Netherworld Marshal entered and greeted, “Lord Cang Li.”

It was a familiar face—Jimo Qianzhou, Baili Xukong’s lackey.

He was the Netherworld Marshal who had protected Baili Zilin when the latter tried to mess with Chu Feng.

When Chu Feng and Little Fishy were in the Immemorial Massacre Sea, he led a group of Netherworld Sectmembers to capture him. Unfortunately, he bumped into the God Clan’s Shen Bai, and the two of them got into an argument before coming to blows.

Jimo Qianzhou was outmatched and sustained severe damage. Yet, he was fully recovered now. The Netherworld Sectmember must have accumulated many invaluable resources over the years to be able to heal him up.

Even if Chu Feng had not defeated the God Clan, the powerhouses of the Netherworld Sect would have probably vanquished them once they were out of their closed-door training.

“What is it?” The old man named Cang Li continued picking his nose, not bothering to spare a glance at Jimo Qianzhou.

“Lord Cang Li, it’s about time. We can begin now,” Jimo Qianzhou said.

“Begin what?” Cang Li asked.

“The selection of our juniors.”

“What’s the point of beginning the selection when not everyone is here yet?”

“Lord Cang Li, most of our juniors are already here.”

“What do you mean? The conservation faction’s Chen Hui isn’t here. Neither is your new faction’s Baili Zilin. Are they not planning to come? Are you hiding your own faction’s prodigy because awakening the sacred item comes with risks? Screw that. Are you saying that those without backing should shoulder all the danger, while those with backing reap the rewards while shaking their legs from the back?” Cang Li spat in disdain.

“Milord, that’s not it. Young master Zilin is in closed-door training and is unable to make it,” Jimo Qianzhou explained.

“Scram, you lapdog! Are you trying to pull one over on me? Do I look like a fool?” Cang Li sneered.

Jimo Qianzhou dared not to respond to that or even continue explaining himself.

“Well said. Jimo Qianzhou deserves a scolding,” Eggy said merrily before adding, “Chu Feng, didn’t you meet a person named Chen Hui a while back? Could it be the same person?”

Some time ago, Chu Feng participated in the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion’s entrance examination to obtain a Saint-tier treasure that he needed to save Eggy. There, he met a fair-skinned, chubby man named Chen Hui.

“There are plenty of people with the same name in the world. It can’t be that coincidental.” Chu Feng shrugged off Eggy’s remark as a joke, and Eggy did mean it as a joke as well.

Just then, a group of people stepped into the palace.

The man leading the group placed his hands on his hips and declared loudly, “Lord Cang Li, I, Chen Hui, am here.”

That man was not wearing a veil, and his familiar face caused Chu Feng’s lower jaw to slacken. “Holy shit! It really is Chen Hui! He is a Netherworld Sectmember?!”

Chu Feng was shocked beyond words.

Chen Hui had left without saying farewell during the entrance examination. Chu Feng didn’t think that they would meet again in the Netherworld Sectmember, and judging from Chen Hui’s entourage, he was likely of considerable stature here.

“If he’s from the conservation faction as well, he might be acquainted with Song Yun. Is it possible that he participated in the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion’s entrance examination because he had heard about you from Song Yun and wanted to probe you?” Eggy deduced.

“Milady Queen, you might have hit the nail on the head.” Chu Feng thought that made a lot of sense.

“Lord Cang Li, Disciple Chen Hui has brought the conservation faction’s juniors here to participate in the selection,” Chen Hui said.

The other juniors behind him bowed to Cang Li.

Jimo Qianzhou’s face darkened. That Chen Hui came at such a bad timing. He’s obviously doing it on purpose.

“Open your eyes and take a good look at the conservative faction!” Cang Li glared at Jimo Qianzhou.

Jimo Qianzhou could only smile awkwardly in response. No matter what, it was a fact that the prodigies of the conservative faction had come to participate in the selection, whereas the new faction had hidden their most talented prodigies.

“Forget it. Even if I wait until the world ends, I doubt that Baili Zilin will be here.” Cang Li stretched his back as he stood up.

He turned to the juniors present and said, “To put it nicely, you are gathered here to play your part for the Netherworld Sect. But to be frank, you’re just here because you don’t have backing, so no one cares if anything happens to you. So, you'd better buck up. If you don’t have backing, you’ll have to become strong to become your own backing and that of your descendants. How else can you survive in the world of cultivation?”

“All right, the selection begins now. Sit down and prepare yourself. It’ll be a trial of willpower. As long as your willpower is firm enough to clear the trial, you’ll be rewarded. You may begin now.”

Cang Li took out a token infused with a dark red aura. It was the same dark red aura that the sacred item emanated.

The juniors quickly sat down.

Cang Li formed a hand seal, and the dark red aura in the token surged into the sky and fused with the palace’s ceiling. The dark red runes in the surroundings morphed into spirit power.

It turned out that the palace was a formation.

A dark red aura suffused the palace. Instantly, the juniors frowned, and their breathing hastened. Even Jimo Qianzhou hurriedly stood up and flitted over to the platform where Cang Li stood.

Only Cang Li’s platform was free from the dark red aura’s influence.

“What’s wrong? Are you afraid that you’ll succumb and embarrass yourself?” Cang Li cast a cold glance at Jimo Qianzhou.

Jimo Qianzhou responded with a bitter smile.

“Stop being an eyesore and get lost!” Cang Li roared.

Jimo Qianzhou wanted to observe the situation, but he was forced to leave. Cang Li was the most difficult one to deal with among the elders of the neutral faction. Even Baili Xukong would be nagged at by him. Jimo Qianzhou dared not to offend him.

Just then, a harrumph echoed. Some juniors collapsed to the ground, and the number only soared with time.

“Why are you still standing there like an idiot? Move the juniors who can’t hold on anymore out! Are you going to watch as they die in here?” Cang Li berated.

Jimo Qianzhou felt wronged. Didn’t you just tell me to leave?
