Chapter 6579: The Means of the Demonic Path
“Yu’er, since you have managed to establish communication with your ancestral land, did it tell you what the monstrous beast who devoured its energy looks like?” Chu Feng asked.
“The ancestral land doesn’t know what the monstrous beast looks like, but it seems to morph into the form of a golden-haired woman,” Little Fishy replied.
By this point, Chu Feng was certain that Little Fishy’s monstrous beast was the same golden-haired woman who snuck into his dantian.
“Yu’er, I think I have met that monstrous beast.”
“Is that monstrous beast still here?” Little Fishy’s face darkened in horror. She had heard from her ancestral land how powerful the monstrous beast was.
“Don’t worry, Yu’er. It’s unlikely that the monstrous beast will pose a threat to us for the time being, whether she’s still around or not,” Chu Feng replied.
He had made this deduction based on how the golden-haired woman hadn’t made another attempt on him despite coveting the items inside him. It could be because her injuries were too severe or that she was intimidated by the red lightning beast.
He proceeded to tell Little Fishy about what he had gone through.
“That explains the sudden disappearance of the external force! That monstrous beast tried to plunder big brother’s bloodline, only to be injured by your bloodline power. In the end, you were the one who saved me.” Little Fishy breathed a sigh of relief.
At least she was safe for the time being.
“Yu’er, will your clansmen be in danger if they continue cultivating without waking up?” Chu Feng asked.
“If left be, their sense of self may begin to erode. This may lead to them losing their memories or, in more severe cases, suffering a cultivation deviation,” Little Fishy replied.
“Are you collecting origin energies to help them maintain their sense of self?” Chu Feng asked.
“Yes, that’s my intention.”
Little Fishy flicked her wrist and took out a black bead inscribed with runes. It was a treasure from the Immemorial Era.
“Woah, that’s some good stuff!” Eggy’s eyes lit up. Her intuition told her the black bead was a priceless treasure.
But Chu Feng could tell that the black bead was malevolent in nature.
“Big brother, the ancestral land told me that I can maintain my clansmen’s sense of self by filling this black bead with origin energies.” Little Fishy looked at Chu Feng hesitantly. “Big brother, will you look down on me for resorting to demonic means to protect my clansmen?”
Chu Feng chuckled. “Silly girl. I have siphoned origin energies away from countless people for your world spirit big sister, but I don’t consider myself an unscrupulous person. I have my set of principles, and I only take the lives of those whom I believe deserve death.
“The people whom you have just killed have innocent blood on their hands. Just the fact they had made an attempt on our lives is more than enough reason for us to kill them. Those who seek to kill others should be prepared to die as well. Since their life is forfeit to us, we should get to decide how we want to deal with them.
“I recently killed an old leopard and obtained two rare treasures from him. To decipher those two treasures, I preserved the old leopard’s body and took it with me. In comparison, what you have done isn’t anything much. I’m sure there are people who view me as a heinous villain, but who cares? I’m not bothered by them.”
He even took out the Cloud Leopard Clan’s Clan Chief’s corpse to show her.
“Chu Feng, Little Fishy is a young lady. You shouldn’t scare her by showing her something like that,” Eggy replied.
“Is our Eggy afraid of it?” Chu Feng asked.
“Of course not,” Eggy replied.
“If our Eggy is not afraid, I don’t think Yu’er will be intimidated, either. Haven’t you realized that the two of you are quite similar?” Chu Feng asked.
“How so?” Eggy asked.
“You look harmless as if anyone can walk over you, but those who dare to do so will quickly regret their action when they notice your vicious streak hidden beneath,” Chu Feng replied.
“What did you say? Do I look that weak?” Eggy put her hands on her hips as she exclaimed indignantly. She recalled how imposing Little Fishy was when she dealt with Xiahou Jue, and she added, “But yes, Little Fishy is indeed no pushover.”
In truth, Little Fishy was no weak-willed lady who would squirm at the thought of siphoning the origin energies of others. She was just concerned about what Chu Feng thought about her.
Chu Feng understood that as well, but he couldn’t help but comfort her. He and Eggy had watched Little Fishy grow up, so they felt protective of her. Even when they knew deep down that their protectiveness might be unnecessary, they still couldn’t help but care for her.
Little Fishy stared quietly at the Cloud Leopard Clan’s Clan Chief’s carcass for a while before raising her head and beaming a smile at Chu Feng. “Big brother, it’s good to have you around.”
Chu Feng smiled in response. “No matter what you do, your standing in my heart will never change.”
“Mm.” Little Fishy nodded as her smile brightened. Her face looked bright and vibrant as if she had temporarily forgotten all unhappiness and worries she had.
“So, how do we channel this bead?” Chu Feng glanced at the black bead in Little Fishy’s hand.
The black bead appeared to be deactivated.
“The ancestral land said that there’s no way to activate this item, but it’ll awaken on its own accord now and then. Till then, I have to collect enough origin energies to feed it,” Little Fishy replied.
Weng!
The runes on the black bead suddenly glowed, and its structure changed.
“Big brother, did the black bead just awaken?” Little Fishy asked.
“Seems so,” Chu Feng replied.
