Chapter 6110, Pool of Revitalisation
Chapter 6110, Pool of Revitalisation
Author: Silavin
“Bodies rot, so that would need to bury them or burn them, no?” Yang Ji said.
“Sure. If that’s what you believe, but in that case, why weren’t that much ash mixed in the blood? And, you only noticed the blood, but not much else.” Wu Lun said plainly.
“In that case, they moved the body away. I heard that if we leave a corpse there for too long, it’ll start smelling.”
“Sure… Then, why did they not clean up the blood while they were at it? You saw patches of brown, you don’t think rotting blood smells?” Wu Lun countered again and just got straight to the point, “Damn kid. Why are you circling around this topic? From your face, I believe you had the answer the moment I mentioned it.”
“But… isn’t that too much? They, eating each other…” Yang Ji’s voice turned soft as he spoke, as if this topic was getting a little hard for him to accept.
“You’ve never starved. No, rather, you could not experience the sensation of starvation before, since you quickly reached the Saint Realm when you were young, and your Family would never let you go hungry, there was never a situation where you had to face hunger, much less starvation.” Wu Lun shrugged and he pointed out, “But, you’ve seen most children here. Which one of them reached the Saint Realm?”
“None of them?” Yang Ji answered. Though, he could not say for certain, since he could not have possibly checked every single child, not to mention his Divine Sense could not currently spread through the entire city. However, he did notice that many of the adults here were also not in the Saint Realm.
“I’ll say this first, but it would be a miracle. A true miracle, for a child to reach the Saint Realm in this city. You might meet a few outside, but definitely not here. In fact, even the adults here rarely reach the Saint Realm.” Wu Lun said coldly.
“That’s…”
“Hard to believe, right? I mean, for you, reaching the Saint Realm was as easy as taking your first shit. But, you were blessed. You and your Sister’s aptitude for cultivation is simply that absurd. Still, you have to remember back in school, how many students were on your level. Zero. There were no students that could compete with you two. In fact, you two even made adults feel uneasy. So, you can’t compare what you’ve experienced with the people here. Get this into that thick skull of yours first.” Wu Lun stated as though exasperated. “For ordinary people, it takes a lot more time, a lot more patience, and a lot more opportunities to breakthrough. Most can’t just meditate under a roof and breakthrough. Even your Father was not like that, so you can’t expect others to be like that too.”
“In fact, from now onwards, you need to get used to these facts. This place is vastly different from your Lower Realm World. You need to remove certain expectations from your mind. Otherwise, they will just hinder you. Be vigilant, be ruthless, be calculative; lie if you need to, steal if you need to. Do anything and everything just to survive. Else, your Sisters will truly be alone in the Upper Realm.” Wu Lun warned, though he doubted these words would enter this boy’s head at just this one mention.
“In your eyes, Defiance City might look like a mess, but honestly, the Family you are now stuck in is no better. If I were to give a rating for the danger you are in, I would give it a nine out of ten.” Wu Lun said with nonchalance, as though this had nothing to do with him.
“Then, why did you lead me to get caught by them?” Yang Ji, in a state of half-believing him due to his tone, could not help but question.
“For the Pool of Revitalisation. We’re doing this all so you can dip your fresh arse into that pool. And, don’t ask me anything about that pool. With how awful your sleep acting was, I doubt you can keep secrets with your facial expressions.” Wu Lun said but the latter part of his statement seemed to have gotten Yang Ji a little worked up.
The child wanted to argue, to refute it. However, as though fate itself was indicating to him that what Wu Lun said was true, Xing Ting spoke up. “I know you aren’t sleeping. There is no need to pretend. With the Isolation Array up, and with a few talismans placed, we should be able to speak without worry.”
This time, Xing Ting’s tone seemed a little more warm. Though she maintained a ready posture while standing by the door, this was a huge contrast to her earlier cold attitude towards him while on the carriage.
[What’s with her? She was so cold before. Why the sudden change?] Yang Ji wondered. He found it odd that this woman was trying to get him to speak, when she was so cold towards him in the carriage.
Nevertheless, since his acting has been exposed, he sat up from the bed and looked directly at her, not saying anything.
Xing Ting took the initiative to speak, “To act as my Young Mistress, you’d need to keep your distance from her Uncle, I’ll need to have you enter the Pool of Revitalisation as soon as possible. We might have been able to fool him earlier, but if he were to make you speak, your identity would get exposed.”
Yang Ji gave a simple nod. Since Wu Lun said that their objective this time was the Pool of Revitalisation, then he rather stop talking and just go there already. That way, he could extricate himself from this strange Family as soon as possible.
“I was initially hoping to wait for the Young Mistress to quickly arrive, and then leave that slot for her to enter. But, with her Uncle here, that would be hard. The Young Mistress’ greatest wish is to be able to cultivate. That’s why her Parents sent her here, far away from home. So, if she were here, she would definitely wish to enter the Pool of Revitalisation on first notice.” Xing Ting said with weight in her voice. “Since you are playing as her, then you must act exactly as one would expect of her. Though the Young Mistress hardly interacts with her Uncle, her excitement over this opportunity is well known within the Family.”
Yang Ji looked at her, facial expression and all, and could not help but wonder, [Why is she telling me all this now? If we’re in such a rush, you could have just dragged me to the pool. No need to waste time explaining right?]
Xing Ting continued, “Unfortunately, we have not heard of the Patriarch sending his Brother here. So, his appearance here is too suspicious. If he were the one hunting down the Young Mistress, then, chances are, we are all going to die. The least I could do for you right now is to explain why and how you died.”
Once Yang Ji heard that, he could not help but frown. [So, she’s softened up because she is taking pity on me before death?]
Yang Ji stood up and walked towards her. Still, Xing Ting did not react and just looked at him, waiting to see what he would do next.
Yang Ji eventually arrived before her and said, “In that case, let’s just go there right now.”
Xing Ting looked into his eyes for a moment. There was not the least bit of hesitation in them, nor fear. She did not know if it was that this child did not understand the situation they were in, or he simply did not care and believed he would pull through. Regardless, she hoped it was the latter and could only reply with her usual coldness, “Fine.”
…
Xing Ting helped Yang Ji get changed. After all, he was heading to a pool. The beautiful attire he wore would be inappropriate for such a spot.
Yang Ji did not mind a basically unknown woman helping him change clothes, and likewise Xing Ting treated it as part of her duty to ensure that even in this simple white robe, Yang Ji would not get exposed.
Once they were done, Xing Ting led Yang Ji out to the reception desk. From there, after a few quick exchanges, they were soon led to a luxurious hall, which at the end of it had a large door that had various markings on it.
From what Yang Ji had seen so far, these markings seem to be another application of Runes, with circular and square patterns, which seemed to be a mix of Arrays and Runes.
Xing Ting took out a Token, this was the same one which she showed at the gate entrance. It was apparent that the whole city knew what this Token meant. Furthermore, unlike at the gate entrance, the Token itself was emitting a gentle glow, synchronising with the Runes on the door. Both entities seemed to come alive as they got closer, with the glowing light seeming to breathe, dimming and intensifying along each stroke.
At some point, the Token automatically flew out of Xing Ting’s hand and merged into the door, causing all light to dim and the door to snap open.
If Yang Ji had a choice, he would be more than willing to sit here, just outside the door, to study how it worked. Unfortunately, it was apparent that he would have no such luck as Xing Ting gave a bow and reminded him.
“We’re here, Young Mistress. I will be waiting outside for you to finish. Please take your time and try to stay inside as long as possible to absorb everything that you can.” Xing Ting said, seeming to hint at something.
Yang Ji just gave a nod and entered, not worrying too much about the details since he had Wu Lun here to explain to him.
