Chapter 2994. Thought Of As More? As Less?

Walker was sure that the area was safe. That wasn’t what was on his mind.

He was very unhappy and the feeling of knowing that he knew now left a sour stirring ball in his stomach.

He didn’t want this space elemental plane, the only one he had really seen and been around to be used as an experiment. He wanted to see it flourish and have the chance to grow the life within safely.

But as an experiment, it could perish, dissipate, or something else untoward might happen to it. That alone was already making him unhappy.

But as he watched carefully using all of his mana senses, he could tell that there had been other manas allowed to clash with the sealed space of this elemental plane. And that was not an unintentional fact.

He could see the seal on it and knew very well that other manas would not interfere directly. Yet, he sensed the small bits of other manas already within the sealed area meaning that the seal had been broken or the mana had been allowed to bypass that seal. It was entirely intentional and most likely related to the very same experimentation he read about in the appraisal he had done.

"Is something wrong?" The demon boy looked at Walker and worried that they were about to flee for their safety. This was a dangerous and unknown place after all. Whether or not he and the fellow crafter were enlightened and focusing on something changing within their known skills and future goals didn’t matter.

"That is up for debate. Some might say that it is natural to experiment and manipulate an elemental plane that is not within the greater elemental planes yet. Space mana can certainly be a unique version of that since it can become part of each elemental plane and somewhat separate as a whole."

His pause seemed to show a deeper thinking that the boy and girl with him did not fully understand since they did not have the same experiences as he did.

"But there are unique beings living within that elemental plane and I was under the assumption that it would be protected by a being that I do not believe is still here. That could be the issue and now this space is at risk for being damaged or destroyed by experimentation. It makes me think of the immortal king and their entire race’s failings due to experimentation."

As if he was being proven right, Walker saw a flurry of change on the elements plane. The space mana shifting within and shadows moving. A show of danger and fight within that was not the case in the last time he had been here.

When he encountered this space elemental plane before, it had been smaller. It had also been the primary home of an aggressive space dragon learning and growing by itself needing time to properly develop since it was a dragon that did not originate from another in the same ways that dragons are hatched and born.

It was a dragon born from the elemental plane and grew because it was able to. So naturally without family or history it did not have knowledge to learn or anything like that.

"Give me a moment, hold on to my eternal codex. It has mana stored within and will be the base for the skill protecting you for hours if need be. But be careful and do not speak or interact with any being that attempts to do so. You are unable to take the weight of their mana and it would harm you."

Walker said this, putting expressions of fear on the pair’s faces. But they did not move an inch as they were handed the eternal codex in grimoire form. The mana protecting them shrunk closer to them and Walker’s skill appeared to shift focal points and the mana didn’t change much at all. The two didn’t even have senses strong enough to feel any change at all.

However, they watched as Walker moved rapidly away toward the space elemental plane. They could see that his way of moving was faster without them with him. This also showed that he had been taking extreme care with them and ensuring that no mana neared them that could be harmful.

It made both of them rest a bit more easily while they watched.

"Did you sense it too?" The girl who had initiated that she come with Walker was looking at the space elemental plane and also all around them.

"The mana? I sensed the space, but I am not what he is looking for. I figured out what I can do and it doesn’t need my hands or anything. I know what I can do now and what I will be able to do."

The demon boy spoke, his injuries from when he was an infant had made him limited. Let him believe he was unable to craft the same ways that others could. But his work with gems could be pushed further.

"I can become a spatial storage gem crafter. It is a craftsman who absorbs space mana and forges it in to gems to be used as temporary spaces for storage. Necklaces, rings, pendants, crowns, and whatever else. I just need to understand my affinity and I have a month to do that."

The girl looked at him with an impressed look on her face. She knew he would have some unique class to pursue because he had been picked up by one of the biggest heroes there was. But, she was not talking about that right now. She could be impressed later.

"The voices calling out, I felt them. That’s what I wanted to know. I think they are voices of what is becoming something out here." Her words sounded almost creepy, but the demon boy felt warmth in them. Like she was talking the same way that some of the forest elves spoke about the voices of the trees or the plants.

"Is that your path then? Your quest for a new class?"

"I hope it is. I didn’t want to just be any old crafter. I wanted to come if he would take me so I can be more than just average." Her hands clenched by the boy didn’t let her stay that way, he nudged her and kept her mind focused on what they could see now.

"Then do it and tell me about it."

The two shared their unspoken moment before properly looking toward Walker and the immense amount of mana they knew had gathered around him.

While they watched, Walker had pulled in a greater deal of mana. It was dense and it was moving with him. A call out to whatever was around that had not been before.

When the mana shifted, he knew he had an answer, but what he did not expect was the appearance of a single silver cicada. Or what he believed was the insect monster cicada that is.

"You are the one experimenting with this elemental plane?" Walker spoke without holding his mana back. Instead, he let his intent bleed through and cause the manas to become slightly sharper and less controlled in their flow.

"I was left with the impression this space elemental plane would be left alone for a longer time to develop properly. Not be used as a toy for experimentation. Explain to me why that changed." His words made the mana even sharper but he knew very well that the cicada was just what he could see from a being powerful enough to toy with the space elemental plane like it was nothing.

"I was owed and I took it. You do not know of the costs some pay, and the prices that must be paid. The promise you believe is not forgotten, just sold away to me." The words were pure space mana. Walker struggled for a breath as he realized that this being was literally using space mana to communicate like an elemental spirit.

He also felt that the being was not lying in any way. Instead, was explaining things simply like they would to a very young toddler. A lesson that would need to be repeated a few times.

"There was a space dragon within that deserves the chance to become properly sentient. I would like them to come back with me so that they have that chance. I do not wish to ignore a promise of growth just because an experiment was desired to be done."

The space mana shifted and another smaller space elemental plane appeared as if it had always been there.

"This hungry thing would have ruined the experiment. Take it if you desire. Do not interfere, I will grow another spatial song cicada like myself, and you can be honored to have met me." A hint of arrogance and annoyance mixed together appeared as Walker realized the cicada and spatial elemental plane were gone.

All that was left was a very small spatial elemental plane sitting right in front of Walker.
